I am in You
Chapter 1 - The first meeting
Hi, my name is Ryan. Today is a very important day in human history.
Ryan sits with his grandpa, having lunch while wearing his school uniform. His grandpa is watching the news, where the anchor announces:
"Today marks a historic moment for humanity. The world's best scientists have gathered for a groundbreaking experiment. They have developed a special gun capable of firing an immensely powerful energy beam into space. This beam is the most powerful explosion ever recorded, equivalent to a supernova. However, there is no cause for concern, as the beam is directed into deep space. Scientists believe that when this concentrated energy hits a single point, it could enlarge a wormhole, open a portal, or cause some other unknown phenomenon. While they are uncertain about the exact outcome, they are confident that something will happen."
Ryan and his grandpa discuss the experiment. Ryan lost his parents in an accident when he was nine years old and has lived with his grandpa ever since. Their bond is strong, having spent the past nine years together.
"If this experiment succeeds, it will be a huge advancement for humanity," Ryan's grandpa remarks.
Ryan nods in agreement. But then, his grandpa chuckles and adds, "Even if this experiment changes history, you're still going to be single."
Ryan blushes. His grandpa always teases him about not having a girlfriend and frequently asks if he has a crush on someone.
Ryan thinks to himself, He just wants to see me happy. He knows that besides him, I have no one else close to me. That's why he always hopes I'll find someone who can take care of me.
Noticing Ryan's slight discomfort, his grandpa gently ruffles his hair. Ryan looks up and smiles before heading off to school.
Meanwhile…
Hi, my name is Emma. I live with my grandma.
Emma and her grandma are also watching the same news. Emma lost her mother at birth, and her father is often out of the country for work, so she has always lived with her grandmother.
While having lunch, her grandma washes the dishes. Noticing a large stone in the garden, she asks Emma to help move it. However, the stone is too heavy for Emma.
"If only you had a boyfriend," her grandma teases, "we could call him to move it for us."
"Not again, Grandma!" Emma sighs.
Emma then explains to the audience, My grandma was very popular in her youth—a famous model in her time.
After finishing lunch, Emma leaves for school.
At School
In Ryan's classroom, the lecture is in progress, but he is chatting with his friends. The teacher scolds him, telling him to focus.
Meanwhile, at the experimental site, everything is ready. Scientists prepare to fire the energy beam. The countdown begins:
"Three… two… one… fire!"
A massive, blindingly powerful beam shoots into space. The entire world watches the event live on television. The beam moves further away until—it suddenly disappears.
Scientists are stunned. The energy was supposed to travel deep into space, but it vanished completely. They rush to check the equipment and discover that the machine is damaged.
Then, one minute later, an earthquake shakes various parts of the world.
Back to Ryan and Emma
Emma is sitting in class when the earthquake strikes. Her school immediately evacuates all students to the playground.
The same happens at Ryan's school. Students rush outside, afraid, as the ground trembles beneath them.
But the earthquake only lasts for a minute.
As a safety measure, schools decide to send all students home early.
Meanwhile, news reports confirm that the experiment failed. Scientists are baffled, unsure whether the earthquake was caused by the experiment or if it was just a coincidence. They continue their research, trying to determine why the beam disappeared and why the machine malfunctioned.
Ryan's grandpa is watching the news when Ryan returns home.
"You're back early," his grandpa notes. "It's not time for school to end yet."
Ryan explains, "Because of the earthquake, they sent us home."
His grandpa nods in understanding. Ryan heads to his room, placing his school bag on the desk—when he notices something strange.
A diary sits on his desk.
He doesn't remember owning any diary. Curious, he asks his grandpa about it, but his grandpa has no idea where it came from. Ryan finds it odd but doesn't think much about it.
Emma arrives home, and her grandmother hugs her tightly, relieved that she is safe.
"I'm fine, Grandma," Emma reassures her before heading to her room.
As she steps inside, she notices a diary sitting on her desk.
It looks exactly like the one Ryan found.
She asks her grandma about it, but her grandma also doesn't know where it came from. Emma is puzzled but dismisses the thought when her grandma calls her for lunch.
The First Entry
That evening, Ryan sits at his desk, finishing his homework. Afterward, his gaze falls on the diary. He picks it up and flips through the pages—it's completely blank.
Deciding to make use of it, he chooses to write about himself. Since he is right-handed, he writes only on the left-side pages, leaving the right side empty.
"My name is Ryan. I am 18 years old and currently in high school."
He writes more details about himself before closing the diary and going to sleep.
On the other side, Emma also decides to use the diary as her personal journal. Since she is left-handed, she writes on the right-side pages, leaving the left side empty.
"My name is Emma. I am 18 years old and love—" she continues writing about herself before placing the diary on her desk and going to sleep.
The Morning Revelation
The next morning, sunlight gently filters through Ryan's window, waking him up. As he sits up in bed, his eyes land on the diary.
Feeling a strange urge, he opens it.
His left-side entries are untouched, but the right-side pages, which he left blank, now contain writing.
Someone has written on them.
He reads the unfamiliar handwriting:
"My name is Emma…"
Shocked, Ryan stares at the diary.
"Who is Emma? Who wrote in my diary?"
Meanwhile, on the other side, Emma wakes up and opens her diary.
She had left the left-side pages blank—but now, someone had written on them.
"My name is Ryan…"
She gasps.
"Who is Ryan? Who wrote in my diary?"
Explanation
Both Ryan and Emma unknowingly wrote in the same diary, and somehow, their diaries are mysteriously connected. They can now read each other's entries.
