There she was.
Standing tall in all her glory with her sturdy, hooved feet buried deeply in the ground beneath her as she stared at you with her deep brown eyes.
You could only look back at her, knowing that guilt ate away at your insides. Your mother knew– of that you were certain.
She knew what you had done and had attempted to hide from her, no matter how well you thought you had kept it hidden.
There was no going back now. Therefore, you realised the only way out was through and decided to come clean once and for all.
"I know you told me not to," you said vaguely on purpose, "but I couldn't help myself." You took a step forward towards your mother with determination– if you had to confess, you would do it on your terms.
Your mother simply kept staring at you, perfectly still even as flied swarmed around her silken tail. You could barely take your mother's silence, deciding on breaking it yourself;
"Say something, at least!" You yelled at your mother, exasperated and one step closer to pulling your own hair out.
Your mother finally understood that her silent demeanour wouldn't be enough to make you repent alone. She lifted her strong neck to stand even taller and you had to crane your neck upwards to keep the ehe contact.
With a huff from her big nostrils, your mother took a step forward with one of her strong, muscly legs and opened her mouth.
You waited anxiously for her words of wisdom, for her ire, for her disappointment in that beautiful voice you had known all your life.
You clenched your fists so hard that your arms trembled with the anticipation you felt until finally, finally, your mother spoke with all the authority she held;
"Neigh."
