Chapter 1 - The Unlikely Alliance (The Rookie Fan-Fic)

Angela Lopez paced back and forth in the dimly lit room, the cold metal of her badge heavy on her chest. A seasoned detective with the NYPD, she had seen the worst of the worst. But nothing, nothing, could have prepared her for this. Her four-year-old son, Jachson, had been taken. No ransom note, no clue as to who was behind it, just the sound of her son's scream echoing in her mind.

Across town, Oscar Hutchinson, the notorious crime boss, was in a similar situation. His daughter, Ashley, had been kidnapped during a late-night trip to the park. Hutchinson was ruthless, feared by everyone in the criminal underworld. Yet tonight, fear gripped him in a way that no enemy ever could. His empire meant nothing if he couldn't protect his daughter.

They were from two different worlds. Lopez, a cop with a sharp sense of justice. Hutchinson, a man who trafficked in power and manipulation. But their children's lives hung in the balance, and neither was willing to stand by and wait.

It was Lopez who showed up at his door first, her gun tucked away but her determination clear in her eyes. Hutchinson looked at her through the security camera, then grunted, unlocking the door. He didn't need to ask how she knew where to find him.

"You want to find your daughter," Lopez said flatly. "I need to find my son."

He studied her, his face as unreadable as ever. But then, a flicker of something human appeared, and he nodded. "We've got a common enemy now."

They made a deal—half-hearted, but practical. They would pool their resources. Lopez had access to the LAPD's network and data, Hutchinson had street connections no one could touch.

The first night, they scoured the city, their vehicles speeding through dark alleys and hidden corners. Lopez's calm determination contrasted with Hutchinson's cold fury. They didn't talk much. Every lead they followed turned into a dead end. The trail grew colder by the hour.

Then, they caught a break. A name. A corrupt contractor known for running illegal operations under the guise of a legitimate business. The contractor was tied to both underground networks and high-profile kidnappings, the perfect middleman for an operation like this.

They raided his compound the following night. Gunshots rang out as Hutchinson took the lead, storming in with his crew while Lopez's tactical unit moved in from the rear. The contractor was found, sweating and terrified, and it only took one threat from Hutchinson to crack him wide open.

"My son—" Lopez said, grabbing him by the collar. "Where is he?"

The contractor, barely coherent, stammered out an address. It was a rundown warehouse by the docks, far from the city's heart, but the answer they needed.

They arrived at the warehouse at dawn. It was eerily quiet, the air thick with tension. Hutchinson's men covered the perimeter, while Lopez's team prepared for a tactical assault.

Inside, they found a room filled with children. Ashley and Jackson were sitting together in a corner, frightened but unharmed. As Lopez rushed to her son, Hutchinson's cold exterior cracked for the first time. He knelt down beside his daughter, his hands shaking as he pulled Ashley close.

They were both safe, but the battle wasn't over. The men who had orchestrated the kidnapping still needed to be dealt with. They weren't just criminals to be arrested—they were the kind of people who would do anything to stay in power.

"We make sure they never hurt anyone again," Lopez said, her voice firm.

Hutchinson didn't hesitate. He nodded. "We're not done yet."

Together, they cleaned house, the alliance of cop and crime boss more deadly than any single one of them alone.

When the dust settled, Lopez and Hutchinson stood outside the warehouse, their children safe in their arms.

"You know, you should've stayed on the force," Lopez said with a slight smirk, looking at him for the first time with a hint of respect.

Hutchinson's smile was cold. "Not my style."

As they parted ways, Lopez couldn't help but wonder what kind of world they'd just built—one where justice and crime collided for the sake of something bigger than either of them. In the end, they both understood one thing: family was a line no one crossed, no matter the cost.

And that, in a twisted way, made them allies.
