Chapter 1 - A new tale

In the modern world of Tokyo, where our story begins, the wheel of destiny turns—fates unravel, and paths collide.

-A young boy's thoughts drifted quietly amidst the noise of change-

"My name is Yami Saturo. I'm 14 years old. I live with both my parents... or at least, I did. We're moving to Tokyo because of my dad's promotion.

I never had many friends, so... I guess I don't mind leaving"

[A gentle voice called from downstairs]

"Yami, sweetie! Time to go. Your father already turned on the van..."

-Yami sat up from his bed, brushing his black hair aside before stretching. He glanced at the packed bags beside him. With a quiet sigh, he slung his backpack over his shoulder, his headphones resting around his neck, and pulled his hoodie over his head-

Yami : "Yes, Mom! I'm coming down now!"

-He descended the stairs, finding his mother, Misaki Saturo, standing by the door with her hands on her hips-

Misaki Saturo: "Do you have all of your things, young man? We're heading straight to the airport, so if you forget anything, that's it."

-Yami gave a small nod-

Yami : "Yes, ma'am..."

-He stepped outside, climbing into the back seat of the family van. Settling in, he rested against the window. Music filled his ears as he gazed at the world outside-

Yani Saturo (Father): "Alright, family... everyone, seatbelts on. Time to head to the airport."

-The engine purred, and they drove off into the fading day-

-As the city blurred past, Yami leaned his elbow on the window, his fist supporting his cheek. The hum of the road, mixed with his music, soon lulled him into sleep-

☆Time passed☆

Misaki:

"Honey... wake up. We're here. You need to get out."

-Yami stirred, his eyes fluttering open. He groaned softly, holding his head for a moment-

Yami : "Ah... my head... Okay, Mom. I'm up."

-The family retrieved their luggage from the trunk before heading into the airport. The check-in process was swift, and soon they boarded their flight to Tokyo-

-Yami sat by the window, while his parents were seated two rows behind him-

Pilot (over speaker): "Ladies and gentlemen, we are now preparing for takeoff. Please fasten your seatbelts."

-The engines roared to life, and the plane lifted into the sky-

-Night fell over the endless sea beneath them. The moonlight reflected off the water's surface, casting an ethereal glow-

-But the peace was short-lived-

-Dark clouds gathered without warning, swallowing the stars above and turning the sea below into an unnatural white haze-

-A sudden crack of thunder split the air—black lightning tore through the sky, narrowly missing the plane-

-Another bolt followed-

-This time, it struck-

-The plane shuddered violently. Flames burst across the fuselage. Screams erupted as panic spread among the passengers. Amid the chaos, Yami's eyes widened-

-There, amidst the inferno, stood a figure—shrouded in black fire, its form flickering like a shadow given life. Its eyes burned with a crimson glow as it locked onto Yami-

-It spoke—its voice distorted, like it echoed from beyond reality-

Dark Figure: "...Su...sur... survive... Yami..."

-As quickly as it appeared, the figure began to crumble into ash, vanishing into the flames-

-Yami's vision blurred. His body felt weightless.

The last thing he remembered was the sensation of falling-

Female Voice (urgent): "We have to get to the hospital—he's losing too much blood!"

-Yami's eyelids fluttered weakly. His senses were hazy. The sharp sting of pain pulsed through his chest-

Yami (weakly): "W-Who's...?"

Female Voice (startled): "He's awake!? Don't speak, just hold on—we're getting you to the hospital!"

-His vision faded once again into darkness-

-When consciousness returned, Yami found himself lying in a hospital bed. The sterile white ceiling above him felt foreign. The steady beeping of monitors echoed faintly-

-He shifted slightly, wincing as a dull pain radiated through his chest. Beneath the patient gown, his eyes caught something—

A black mark stretched across his chest, bordered with glowing white symbols-

-Before he could process it, the door creaked open-

-A woman entered—mid-thirties, with kind yet tired eyes-

Doctor: "Good grief... You're finally awake. You've been out for five days straight."

-Yami turned his gaze toward her-

"Five... days? I... I was unconscious that long ,Miss ?"

-She chuckled softly-

Doctor: "We have a charmer, huh? I'm Doctor Sarah. I run this hospital. You were found near the bay, badly injured. Do you remember anything?"

-Yami's thoughts raced. He searched his memories-

-The fire.

The figure.

His family.-

-But their faces... were gone. No matter how hard he tried, they slipped from his mind-

Yami (hesitant): "I... don't remember much. I think... I was on a plane. But... that's all."

-Doctor Sarah's smile faded slightly-

Doctor Sarah: "A plane? That's strange... There were no reports of a plane crash. Just some bizarre weather that night. But... you were the only survivor we found."

-Yami's chest tightened-

Yami (shaking): "No... survivors...? My family... But... why... why can't I remember their faces...?"

-Pain surged through his head. The black mark on his chest began to glow faintly-

Yami (groaning): "Ahh...!"

-He clutched his temples, the glow intensifying beneath his gown-.

-Doctor Sarah quickly stepped forward, placing her hand over his-

Doctor Sarah (gentle): "Hey—calm down. Don't push yourself."

-Her touch was warm. Slowly, the glow faded, and his breathing steadied-

Yami (softly): "...Thank you."

She smiled.

Doctor Sarah: "It's okay. You've been through a lot. What's your name, kid?"

Yami: "...Yami. Yami Saturo. Where... am I?"

Doctor Sarah: "This is Tokyo Metro Center Hospital, Mr. Saturo."

-Yami leaned back against the pillow, his eyes drifting toward the ceiling-

-His family was gone.

His memory was fractured.

A mark, pulsing with strange power, scarred his chest.

And the voice of that figure echoed in his mind.

Survive... Yami-
