Chapter 9 - chapter 9: Running away

KIMBERLEY'S POV

I couldn't stay here any longer.

Not after everything that happened.

Not after Alexander watched his employees humiliate me in broad daylight and didn't do a damn thing about it.

I wasn't his wife. I was just a contract. A business deal. A possession he could discard whenever he wanted.

And I was done.

I packed my bags quietly, making sure I didn't make any noise. My hands trembled as I stuffed in my few clothes, grabbing only what was necessary. I didn't want to take anything he bought me, I refused to owe him anything more than I already did.

As I zipped my suitcase, a bitter laugh almost slipped from my lips.

I was sneaking out of my own prison.

I took a deep breath and stepped out into the dimly lit hallway. It was past midnight. The house was silent, except for the occasional sound of the wind whistling outside. No guards. No maids. Nothing.

Good.

I walked carefully, avoiding the creaky spots on the floor. Just a few more steps and I'd be at the back door.

Hidden in the corner of the grand staircase, Vanessa watched me.

She didn't stop me.

She didn't call for help.

She just watched.

And I was so happy, I only hope she doesn't tell Alexander till I have gone so far.

Vanessa's POV

Stupid girl.

She really thought she could run?

I should have called Alexander immediately, but where's the fun in that?

No. I had a much better idea.

I turned away from the staircase and made my way to Alexander's private quarters. If Kimberley wanted to disappear so badly, I'd help her. But not before I destroyed her first.

I walked straight to his room. The door was slightly open, and the dim lighting inside cast shadows across the floor.

He wasn't here. Perfect.

My eyes landed on the small safe near his bed.

Within seconds, the safe clicked open, he didn't close it, even after Kimberley being caught stealing he still trusts her so much.

Jewelry. Gold. Bundles of cash was inside.

I smiled. This will be enough to make my plan work.

I took everything and hurried back to my room. Once inside, I reached for my phone and dialed the one number I had been keeping for an occasion like this.

A man picked up after two rings.

"You owe me a favor," I whispered. "And I need you to play a role."

I had always had a crush on Alexander. That's why I am working for him. My mother is very rich, but I am really obsessed with him, that's why I chose to work for him.

Yet he wouldn't notice me but today everything is going to change.

Hahahaha 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

Kimberley's POV

The air outside was cold, but I didn't care. I pulled my coat tighter around me as I walked down the street. I had no idea where I was going, but anywhere was better than that house.

I had just a little money, I have been so for so long now in case of emergencies and now here comes the emergency.

But I have no plans yet .

But at least I was free.

Suddenly, a car screeched to a stop beside me. Before I could react, a hand clamped over my mouth, dragging me backward.

My heart slammed against my ribs.

No. No. No.

I thrashed, kicked, tried to scream, but the man holding me was too strong.

Something pricked my neck.

A sharp pain.

Then darkness.

Alexander's POV

The office was exhausting today.

I loosened my tie as I walked into the mansion, feeling an odd sense of uneasiness.

Something wasn't right.

Vanessa was waiting for me.

She was dressed in something a little too revealing, her smile a little too sweet.

"What?" I asked, already annoyed.

She pouted, then sighed dramatically. "I didn't want to tell you this, but…" She hesitated, then held up her phone.

My stomach twisted. "But what?"

"I think you should see this first."

She tapped the screen, and a video started playing.

My blood ran cold.

Kimberley.

In a hotel room.

With a man.

His hands on her waist. His lips on her neck.

She was smiling. Laughing. Enjoying it.

My chest tightened painfully. "What the fuck is this?"

Vanessa sighed, placing a comforting hand on my arm. "She was planning to run away with him, Alex." She shook her head. "I tried to stop her, but she left. And guess what?" She gestured toward my safe. "She stole from you before leaving."

I clenched my fists.

I wanted to deny it.

I wanted to believe Kimberley wouldn't do this.

But the proof was right there.

She betrayed me. And it burned.

Vanessa handed me a drink. "Here, you need to relax."

I downed it in one gulp. I needed something stronger to numb this rage.

I should be furious.

I should be planning her punishment.

But the moment I looked into Vanessa's eyes, the alcohol mixed with something else.

Desire, I wanted to thrust so hard in a hole.

Boiling with rage and betrayal.

The urge was being so unbearable

And in that moment, I did something I never thought I would.

I pulled her closer.

And she let me, she didn't resist

Instead she kissed me holding my crock in her hand and squeezing it hard.

I was completely arouse and couldn't control it anymore, I just let myself in to do what pleases it.

Kimberley's POV

When I woke up, my head was spinning.

The air smelled like cheap perfume and cigarettes.

Where the hell was I?

I tried to move, but my wrists were tied. Panic shot through me.

The last thing I remembered was walking down the street… then the car… the man…

Oh God.

I struggled against the ropes, my breathing uneven.

Then I heard the door creak open.

Vanessa walked in.

Smiling.

"W-What's going on?" I whispered, my voice hoarse.

She crouched in front of me, tilting her head. "Oh, darling, you really thought you could leave so easily?"

I stared at her in horror. "You did this?"

She chuckled. "Of course. But don't worry, I already showed Alexander the proof of your little affair. He won't come looking for you."

My chest tightened. No. That's not possible, what affairs, with who

But somehow a stupid part of me wishes he comes to look for me.

"He wouldn't believe you," I spat, "you are just trying to set me up, I didn't have any affair with anyone.

She smirked. "Oh, you did. In fact, he's already saw the clips.

I felt like I was going to throw up.

This wasn't happening.

But the triumph in her eyes told me it was.

And for the first time, I realized I had truly lost him, even if I wanted that.

That he shouldn't look for me, he should forget about me, a part of me didn't want that.
