"Damn it, I can't daydream right now. What did Inala do during this time?"
I immediately searched for Inala amidst the chaos and, by coincidence, spotted Viral trying to help the Ruvva.
"Damn, he's fast."
In the next moment, I found Inala using a Mud Viper like a water hose. He lifted it and twisted its body, forcing it to reflexively launch a mud ball.
"Hmm… it can buy him some time, but it won't protect him for long. I can help him and use this chance to prove I'm trustworthy."
Some Mud Vipers noticed Inla actions and began crawling toward him. He hastily dropped the Prana-less Mud Viper, took a deep breath, and shouted, "Grehha! Come help me!"
"Count me in!" Grehha rushed toward Inala and clapped his hands loudly, drawing the attention of the three Mud Vipers targeting him.
"Hey, don't leave me hanging!" I hurriedly ran toward them. Thankfully, while Grehha distracted the Mud Vipers, Inala dropped his bone spheres on them one after another, and I quickly grabbed one.
I gasped for air, panting as I lifted a Mud Viper and tried to do the same. 'My vision is spinning… I can't feel my arms…' Rolling on the ground had been too much for my body to handle.
"Ugh!" Inala grunted as a mud ball slammed into his left foot, rooting him to the spot. He wasn't strong enough to break free, and a Mud Viper was rapidly approaching.
I tried to sprint toward him and fire mud balls, but in my rush, I twisted my ankle, a sharp pain shooting through my leg.
"Damn it, the pain is unbearable… but I have no choice but to bear with it."
Working together with Inala and Grehha, we fired mud balls in quick succession, trying to seal off the entrance. The hardened mud wall wasn't sturdy enough, though—if the Mud Vipers rammed into it enough times, they would break through.
The three of us stood tense, watching as the Mud Vipers continued to slither toward us. Those trapped behind the mud wall struggled for a minute before breaking free and rejoining the attack.
All the students were fighting desperately, but despite sealing the entrance, plenty of Mud Vipers had already entered the shelter.
Soon, we were overwhelmed.
"Shit!" I flinched in fright as a Mud Viper leaped at me. The addition of one more person to our team had meant fewer Mud Vipers available to use as weapons, causing our ammunition to run out sooner.
There were too many left. Trapped in place, I knew it was only a matter of time before I died. A group of Mud Vipers attacked together. We managed to fend off most of them, but one managed to slither through our defenses and lunged straight at me.
'Guess this is it, huh? I couldn't even survive one day in Sumatra… what a disappointment.'
I closed my eyes, accepting my fate.
Then, suddenly, the ground began to shake—an earthquake?
'Wait, we're not on the ground… it's Gannla! She's shaking, but why?'
This didn't make sense. This didn't happen in the novel. The only possible change… was me.
But regardless of why Gannla saved me, the disaster wasn't over yet.
