They lost? Nero thought, his heart pounding.
But he quickly dismissed the idea.
If they had lost, they would be dead.
Another minute passed-then a sudden, horrific scream.
Both of them collapsed. Victry lay motionless, his body unnervingly still.
Flavia gasped for air, her limbs trembling, barely clinging to consciousness.
Nemsus turned to Nero. "What happened?"
Nero's eyes were locked onto the fallen pair, emotions flickering across his face-anger, satisfaction, and hesitation.
"I think they lost a Will Battle while trying to consume the beast's Eny."
His mind raced through the possibilities. The Will Rune was the core of a being's consciousness-its thoughts, its memories, its will. It was also the key to controlling mana. If shattered completely, death was inevitable.
He had never heard of two people attempting a Will Battle together, but he remembered Viser mentioning that man-Duke Victry. He was just a Sage. Which meant...
"He actually tried to consume the Eny of a Sovereign's eny with the will still in it while still a Sage?" Nero scoffed, shaking his head.
"Idiot."
His gaze shifted to flavia.
He hadn't seen her before, but he doubted she was a Sovereing, after all sovereings don't grow on trees
She was barely moving
She looked alive, but broken. A Will Battle always ended with one Will Rune being destroyed. That meant one of three things:
1. The monster's will won, which was impossible since Flavia was still breathing.
2. They somehow won, but both were gravely injured.but again victry wasn't moving at all
3. Victry died, and the women survived, barely
Nero's eyes narrowed, realization clicking into place. They must have won. The monster's Will Rune is gone. But they were at least both enjured
If one of them was dead, then even if the other survived, his Will Rune was probably damaged.
This was a chance.
A rescky one
A chance to get three enys with at least one in level five
The greed started rising in Nero that was to much to mess
He glanced at Delilah. She met his gaze and nodded. She had reached the same conclusion.
Without hesitation, the two of them launched themselves toward the fallen bodies.
"Come on, Nemsus. Bring Lunia and follow me," Nero said, his voice tense as he moved as fast as he can
Nemsus didn't fully understand what was happening, but he didn't waste time asking questions. He lifted Lunia onto his shoulders, adjusting her weight carefully before following Nero and Delilah. Roan trailed behind him, his steps cautious but steady.
Nero where are you going ?
Nero didn't under hé just kept running
As they approached, the scene became clearer.
Victry was on his back, blood streaming from his eyes, ears, and mouth. His body wasn't moving. Nearby, the woman struggled to rise, but her limbs refused to obey her.
A wild grin spread across Nero's face.
It couldn't have turned out any better
Only one dee? Nero said while Looking towards victry
Flavia was still holding her head triying to figure out what what just happend
She started remembering the moment they arrived here
She grabbed her father's hand, then reached out with her other to touch the monster's Eny.
For a moment, she hesitated. A shared Will Battle? The spell worked on lower-level Enys, but she had never heard of anyone attempting it against a Sovereign.
But the reward was too great to ignore.
A Level 5 Rune… a path to becoming a Sovereign.
Her greed outweighed her doubts.
Failure meant death. Even if they succeeded, they would only have one new sovereing and a sage.
With Sylvestre, octavian and the other sages as enemies, their survival was far from guaranteed. They had to win the Will Battle fast—then escape.
Her plan was simple. Once she was free, she would seek out another Sovereign and trade the Time Rune for a Level 5 Rune that matched one of her own.
With that, she could evolve one of her Level 4 Runes to Level 5.
If she was unlucky, she might end up with a low rune—but in that case, she could demand extra benefits to make up for it.
Or, if fortune favored her, she might find a soverieng that posess a high rune. After all, she was about to extract a Time Rune—one of the rarest Runes in existence.
She was going to become a Sovereign.
She would finally take her revenge on Octavian—the bastard who had chosen another woman over her.
After he had promised to marry her.
And after that, she would kill her father. After everything he had put her through, he didn't deserve to live.
This was her chance. She had to take it.
The Will Battle began.
She felt it immediately.
Her Will merging with her father's, forging something stronger, something unified. A will that can almoust reach a the next level
It worked !!! She smiled
A surge of confidence filled her, the weight of their combined power intoxicating.
They were stronger together, their Wills synchronized in perfect harmony.
Their Wills were similar, making the fusion smoother—an advantage in battle.
But it wasn't exactly a comforting thought.
After all, she hated him.
They attacked. Their joined Will crashed against the beast's, pressing forward, trying to tear it apart. But something was wrong. The monster's Will. it was stronger than expected.
A chill ran down Flavia's spine as their momentum faltered. Their faces paled.
The Will shouldn't have been this powerful.
Or maybe… they had underestimated what it truly meant to be a Sovereign.
Beast Wills were usually weaker than a human's, and a dead Will was supposed to be even more fragile. But that only applied when fighting something of equal level.
This was different.
Yet, they were holding on.
The battle turned brutal. Their Wills clashed, pushing, striking, trying to tear each other apart. The beast's resistance was relentless—every attack they landed was met with an equally vicious counter.
And through it all, they could feel it.
Fragments of its memories.
Echoes of its rage.
The sheer hatred that had burned within the beast in life still lingered, refusing to fade, refusing to surrender.
They fought relentlessly, their Wills clashing over and over, neither side gaining the upper hand. Minutes stretched on in a brutal deadlock, but then—it happened.
The beast's Will began to fracture.
Cracks spread through its essence like splintering glass, its once-unyielding presence starting to unravel. It was weakening. They were winning.
But just as it was about to shatter completely, something changed.
The beast's Will twisted, its essence surging with a final, desperate decision. It wasn't going to fade quietly—it was going to explode.
A violent force swelled from within, its Will raging and expanding, ready to consume everything in its wake. They felt it—the raw, unrelenting hatred, the final moments of the beast's life flashing through their minds. Its battle with Gaius, its refusal to die alone.
This wasn't just resistance.
It was a suicidal Will, determined to take them with it.
A surge of sheer destruction pulsed through its breaking Will, ready to detonate and take them down with it.
That's why understanding how an Eny's owner died was crucial—their final emotions could shape the very nature of what you'd face.
If their Will Runes had been strong enough, they could have ignored it. But they weren't. They were just two Level 4 Wills forced together, and now, with the beast's Will on the verge of detonation, their chances of survival had dropped to barely 1 or 2%.
And even if they survived… their Wills would be damaged.
Vita's heart pounded. She would not die here. Not after Evry thing she went through
In a split second, she made her choice. She ripped herself away, severing the link between her and her father's Will.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Victry screamed, hir voice raw with desperation.
"We might die," she heard him say , his tone steady despite the chaos. ", but together, we have a better chance."
The battlefield was closing in around them. The two Wills were too close almost locked in a fight that wouldn't end until one of them fell. But Vita, determined to push her father's will further, to protect her self and gain a better chance to survive, made a desperate move.to break the link and hide using her father's will as a shield
Victry's will faught hard to do something to run to emerge again but failed as the other will was faiting it back
but it was too late
The beast's Will Rune exploded. A surge of power ripped through the air, shattering everything in its path. Victry's own Will Rune was obliterated completely. Even though Vita took the brunt of the blast, her Will Rune wasn't spared—it cracked, splintering into a fractured, unstable mess.
When Vita regained consciousness, the world around her was distorted. Her vision swam, her head throbbed like it was being split open. The pain was unbearable. Worse, with her Will Rune almost destroyed, she couldn't even move, let alone control her mana.
She forced herself to stay calm. It wouldn't take long before her Will Rune started to recover—not fully, but enough for her to take the enys and run. She just had to endure.
Then, as she forced her blurry eyes open, she saw a shadow—a figure rushing toward her, getting closer and closer.
