Chapter 5 - surviving in the wild

After several days of traveling through the dense forest, Darius began to feel the weight of the circumstances around him. Adam, who seemed to know every corner of this place, acted as if he were at home here, while Darius struggled to adapt to this new world. It wasn't easy for him to tame his initial fear of the wilderness, but he was determined to survive.

As they walked through the forest, Darius heard a strange sound. The trees suddenly shook as if a massive beast was approaching. Suddenly, a creature appeared before them—an average-sized beast with tough brown skin and sharp horns. It belonged to the copper class, meaning it wasn't the strongest, but still posed a challenge.

Adam:

Noticing the creature

"This one's copper class. Not too tough, but remember, any creature in the wild can be dangerous if you underestimate it. Show me what you've learned."

Darius:

Trying to stay calm despite his confusion

"I think I can handle it."

Adam:

"Remember, fighting isn't just about strength. Use speed and intelligence. Don't rush into the attack."

The creature charged toward them, but Darius remembered Adam's advice. He swiftly moved to the side, taking advantage of the distance the terrain provided for an attack. With a precise strike, he knocked the beast to the ground in a surprising moment.

Adam:

Smiling gently

"Not bad. Now, let's move to the next part. Look at its skin. We can sell it for a good price. That will help us."

As Darius inspected the creature, he began to feel some comfort. Nothing seemed impossible in this world if you learned how to handle situations. Even if it meant fighting a small beast in the forest.

Lesson One: Survival

After the fight, they sat near the fire Adam had lit in a safe spot in the forest. The night was quiet, but Darius was unsettled. How could he survive here?

Adam:

Stirring a piece of wood in the fire

"Surviving in the wild is not just about physical strength. The first thing you need to learn is to use the environment to your advantage."

Darius:

"What do you mean?"

Adam:

"The environment here isn't your enemy. You need to learn how to become part of it. Look around you—everything can be a tool. Shrubs can offer you shelter, trees can be used for traps, even leaves that seem useless can be used to cover food."

Darius:

Looking around cautiously, trying to understand what Adam meant

"I think I get it. I need to be part of this world, rather than fighting against it."

Adam:

"Exactly. Second, sound is very important. When we're out here, you need to distinguish between natural sounds and those that could indicate a beast or other dangers."

Darius:

"I'll be more mindful of the sounds next time."

Adam closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath, then pointed to the silence of the night.

Adam:

"Nature knows how to tell you what's happening. If you can't hear, you'll fall into a trap. In the wild, everything has meaning."

---

Lesson Two: Traps and Hunting

The next day, Adam showed Darius how to make simple hunting traps. He took the time to teach him the art of hunting, which was crucial for survival.

Adam:

"You won't always be able to rely on fighting. Sometimes, you'll need to stay quiet and patient. These traps will help you catch food without exhausting your energy."

Adam took a large stick and began forming a trap in the shape of a circle. Darius watched carefully.

Adam:

"The most important thing here is precision. If you're making a trap, you need to be careful with distances and placement. These traps will catch small birds, which can be good food."

While training, Darius tried to replicate Adam's movements, feeling a bit frustrated at first, but he continued. After several attempts, he finally managed to make a decent trap. He felt a sense of achievement, but he knew the biggest challenge was still ahead.

Lesson Three: Harmony with Nature

As they were walking through the forest during the day, Adam noticed something unusual in the nearby trees. He stopped Darius and calmly said:

Adam:

"Here, in these places, you don't follow the usual rules. Nature is full of things that may lure you in, but you need to learn how to remain calm."

Adam took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment.

Adam:

"When you find yourself in an unexpected situation, you need to use everything you've learned. Use your skills, calmness, and observation. The beast you face now might not be the one you see. It could be the sound, or the signal your senses catch."

Darius:

"Does that mean I should be cautious of even things that seem safe?"

Adam:

"Exactly. Always assume that everything could be a trap. Even the ground itself can be dangerous if you don't know how to deal with it."

--

That night, after they set up camp, Darius felt a mix of exhaustion and motivation. He was beginning to understand that survival in the wilderness wasn't just about fighting—it was a game of intelligence and calmness. With Adam, he began to see the world differently. He might not be fully prepared yet, but he was close to becoming more capable of handling the challenges ahead.
