It all begins with death and it ends with death and perhaps the world might have peace. My name? Not as important as the things I am about to tell you. Some things you might already know like the fact that the world isn't fair and that's only because greedy people exist and weak-minded folk do nothing to stop it.
I sit handcuffed and chained next to a bunch of people I don't know on my way to exile for a sin. A sin that was deemed so only because of the blood in my veins and how I look. Defective skin, weak blood, deficient bones. I could hear them still saying that to me as they sentenced me to my death. Those who didn't have the courage to say it to myself said with their eyes. The eyes of a Remnant is born full of scorn and hate for the Earliers and that will always be true. My Da said this to me everyday and ever since he died I've met this reality every single time I've been to the Upperzone.
A loud sound outside the transport car we're in turns almost all heads to the front and for the first time I notice him. A little boy who couldn't be more than fifteen years old sits alone hands chained to the wall with a restraint around his neck. He's obviously a Biome because of the metal parts of his arm and bare chest. In the Gutters seeing a biome is part of everyday life but never have I ever seen the sort of metal the kid has on him. Never seen it on a Remnant biome either so he must be one of the rare ones people keep talking about in Web Forums. Why he's almost stuck to the walls I don't know but he must have done terrible things.
I feel the car stop. That must mean that we've arrived at the Patch. My exile has begun and soon my death will visit me and my sister will die from hunger. Nobody will save her because nobody knows her name or her face. Not that she would receive more grace from this cruel world if anyone knew her, just that she would stand a chance.
The doors on the back start moving and soon a masked face appears. As the outline improves I see the pistol at his hip before I see the rifle slung across his shoulder. Acropolis Transport Guard don't use rifles like that. Something is very wrong here.
My fellow condemned seem to notice this as the masked man takes out a holoscreen tablet from the his backpack. Faces appear when he fires it up. He scrolls past every face as he glances at each of us. Finally, he takes off his mask, his eyes rest on mine and he smiles.
Next, he pulls out his pistol and aims it the prisoner closest to me. His eyes find mine and he blasts it into their face right as he nods at me. He shoots at six more people still nodding at me with his smile creeping into my soul. I can't shake my head twice as my Da had taught me because of my restraints but if I could it wouldn't be twice.
With blood all over the walls of the car, only seven of us remain. The man then pulls out a device that remotely resembles an arm, all metallic and presses a button on the back of the hand. For a short while nothing happens till I feel the restraints around my hands loosen. When I flex my fingers, they fall off. All of the prisoners stare at each other and I more than they know what I want to do. I begin to rise but the man raises the pistol and smiles again.
" This is a favour so don't push it. I will free you all when we reach where we all need to be. As of now, welcome to Citadel City and seeing as you're all condemned, you'll fit right in."
With that he locks the door. A few moments pass afore I feel the car moving again.
