Chapter 1 - Run away from sidekick-ship

A kick to his balls—that was it. A very nice place to attack Roy and turn his face pink.

What would a, A-top-listed sidekick do?

At least, even though he might have gotten his eggs broken and lost a few future kids, he now had an excuse for a vacation and all the breaks he needed. No more getting his body hurt from all the fighting with bad guys.

"Hehe," Roy laughed in his heart, waving at Don 360—the new supervillain who had just appeared in Cybersile City, causing chaos. His number one, aka the boss and protagonist, Man of Wonders, had easily taken Don 360 down after Roy had blocked most of a powerful attack for him—at the cost of almost losing his future grandkids and kids.

Man of Wonders flew off with Don 360 to the flying Toyrozoom, flinging him toward the Non-Superheroes Force inside.

The Non-Superheroes Force was like ordinary police officers, just with a little battle knowledge.

Anyway, back to the story.

Roy had fallen to the ground, clutching his crotch and frowning in pain after Man of Wonders had turned his back to deal with Don 360.

When he saw the man himself coming back, Roy had no time to get up from the floor—so he only smiled at him.

"What's up, Roy? Why are you on the floor? My sidekick can't be this weak! A little ten-thousand-pound iron spiky ball hitting you in the balls—that can't be too painful, right?"

Man of Wonders had been killed ten thousand times inside Roy's mind—and buried for the thousandth time.

The Man of Steel's face carried a smile, a smirk that almost made him look harmless, but it only made Roy's blood boil.

[You punk. You're just like a little princess with thick muscles—nothing but empty foam in disguise—wearing a cape and swimming trunks all the time, with your boxers sticking out of your pants. What kind of pain have you even gone through? If it weren't for me taking the hits every time, you wouldn't even know what suffering is!]

Roy wasn't always this obnoxious, like an envious brat—but the pain from his almost broken balls was getting to his head.

He admired Man of Wonders very much, and he wished to be promoted and become a protagonist one day—to have his own little sidekick experience the same struggles he did.

It was a wicked thought, but still, it would be sweet to see.

Roy was only 17, and he was already a sidekick—that showed the kind of potential he had. But Roy wasn't happy with it.

"Favorite sidekick in the world, wouldn't you like to get on my back since you seem like you can't walk?"

Roy narrowed his eyes at Man of Wonders' words, pressing his lips together.

Man of Wonders was also 17, just like him, but he talked as if he were a dozen years older.

"Roy, I know you have anger issues, but you shouldn't ignore your injuries. Come on, let's get you to the Corp Health Station and get you patched up. I really wanna see more of your generation, so let's be quick," Man of Wonders said in an exaggerated heroic voice as he effortlessly lifted Roy like a sack of sand—after all, he was powerful.

Roy flailed his arms and legs in the air, protesting.

He feared—no, he dreaded—what kind of ridiculous headlines the Hero Media Committee would come up with if they saw this. He would be the talk of Cybersile City.

They'd probably come up with some disgusting news like:

"Man of Wonders Loves His Sidekick Too Much! Is He the Kindest Hero Ever? What's Even the Purpose of a Sidekick Then?"

Roy shuddered in horror, mentally ripping that image to shreds.

[I'm so fucking tired of this. Of everything. I don't want to be a sidekick anymore. I never wanted to be a sidekick. I wanted to be a protagonist—a superhero, like the ancestors of all heroes... like Superman! I didn't sign up for this! I signed up for a hero internship!]

As history went...

Roy was a special child. He was the first ordinary boy to be born with super abilities, and at the time, he had always been praised for it.

Because of this, Roy grew up believing he was destined to be a hero. He even attended Hero Academy.

Until the papers that made him want to destroy the entire universe landed in his hands.

[File XX]

Name: Roy Darshstone

Qualifications: Congratulations, Mr. Roy. You have been accepted… as Amazing Wonder Man's sidekick.

Roy swallowed hard. His hands trembled as he turned to the sexy, hot superhero documenter in pink, anxiety twisting in his gut.

With a voice barely above a dead shriek, he asked, "Why?"

The documenter, her cute almond eyes blinking at him, replied cheerfully, "Because Wonder Man chose you himself."

At that moment, Roy knew—she understood nothing of his pain.

"Wait, lady, you don't understand. I signed up to be a hero, not a sidekick! There must be some mistake. You need to change it!"

[Lady, you look like a goddess. You might even be my future wife if you play your cards right. But PLEASE, for the love of all things heroic, understand me!!]

Forcing a smile, Roy looked at her pleadingly.

The accountant shook her head, her gaze fixed firmly on him. "No. Wonder Man chose you. You should be happy."

[Thanks, but I don't want to marry you anymore.]

Roy grabbed her hands, his eyes desperate, as if he were about to cry—but no, men don't cry.

"Pretty aunt, listen! This is not my destiny. You don't understand—my fate is to stand at the top as a great superhero someday!"

"Maintain your distance, young boy," the woman said with a scowl.

Roy was forced to step back.

History forgot to mention that Roy's head barely reached her hips—so to her, he was just a short kid.

...

Damn it.

Roy gritted his teeth, arms crossed over his chest, as Wonder Man flew with him like he was carrying a disobedient dog. The way he held him just screamed it.

[If this motherfucker hadn't chosen me, I would have been a hero…Sorry, I really don't wanna die young. Sidekicks always die before the hero. Why? Because they always take the shit for them.]

...

Location: Sidekick Quarters

They finally arrived.

Amazing Wonder Man flung Roy through the open window, his body rolling through the air before crashing onto a soft purple couch.

Lucky for Roy, the window was open.

But honestly, even if it wasn't open, who cared? He was a superhuman—his body could endure it. That's exactly why Amazing Wonder Man had no problem throwing him straight through his own window.

Amazing Wonder Man flung Roy through the open window.

"Damn you, Wonder Man!" Roy spat, flipping him off with a middle finger. Not that the so-called hero could see it—he was already flying away, his back turned. But with those super ears of his, he definitely heard it.

Roy sighed, sinking into his couch, eyes zoning into the void.

Just a lonely, dark space.

Above him, his floating robot, Mimo, was having dinner with another little Mimo.

Roy wasn't sure if they were gay or just neutral bots, but he was so bored that he had programmed such pointless settings for them.

"Oh, damn it!"

A sudden wave of pain shot up from his groin, hitting him hard. He was just a young boy—tears welled up in his eyes against his will.

Groaning, he pressed the telecaller on his wrist.

A hologram appeared in the room.

A woman with flowing blue hair and dazzling crystal-purple eyes appeared, an apron tied around her waist. The background? Obviously, a kitchen.

Before Roy could even breathe, he blurted out:

"Ma, you might not have grandkids!"

Immediately, his mother's aura filled the room, almost as if she were about to materialize right then and there.

Which, of course, she could.

"Ma, I'm not lying! My balls got broken by a supervillain."

What would his mother say? She was always so proud of him for working under a superhero, but she had no idea about the full consequences of it.

"Mom... I want to run away," Roy admitted.

"I support you, son."

Roy nearly choked.

"You—you'll support me, Mom?"

"Of course, son. Our family isn't broke, and besides, what's the point of you making money if I don't have grandkids to spend it on?!"

His mother barked, and Roy cackled.

"Alright, Ma! I'll run away today, hehe. I wasn't born to be a sidekick. The other sidekicks in HQ will be asleep—I'll make my escape tonight!"

Roy had made up his mind. With his mother's blessing, he would escape this place and leave his sidekick days behind.

But what he didn't know was that fate had other plans for him.

...

A/N: Lol, the last part sounds like I'm hinting at the next episode of Dragon Ball.
