Chapter 10 - The Final Confession

Luigi remained on his knees, his body trembling as Xeno Mario's laughter echoed through the throne room. The grotesque figure loomed over him, his red eyes glowing with malice.

"So, dear brother... any last words?" Xeno Mario sneered, his voice dripping with mockery.

With great effort, Luigi stood up, tears streaming down his face.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry for what I did to you," he choked out, his voice breaking with every word.

Xeno Mario stopped smiling, his expression unreadable as he stared at Luigi.

"All I ever wanted was to be the hero... to be number one, just once in my life. You were always the favorite... always the beloved. All I wanted... all I wanted was to feel what it was like to be you, to know how it felt to be the savior, the one everyone looked up to," Luigi confessed, his voice trembling with emotion.

"But... but that's no excuse. I deserve what's happening to me... I'm sorry, brother... Mario," Luigi said, his legs giving out as he collapsed to the ground once more.

Princess Peach, Yoshi, and the others laughed cruelly at Luigi's despair, their distorted forms mocking him. Only Xeno Mario remained silent, his smile returning as he spoke.

"It's... already too late."

Xeno Mario held up the Ultimate Super Star, its light flickering ominously. He opened his mouth, revealing a void of endless darkness, and swallowed the star. A black light erupted from his body, consuming everything in its path. The darkness spread rapidly, engulfing the room, the castle, and eventually the entire dimension.

As the darkness consumed him, Luigi whispered,

"I hope... you can forgive me one day... brother Mario."

When Luigi opened his eyes, he found himself in a familiar place—Bowser's Castle. He looked around in confusion, his heart racing.

"This place... it's Bowser's Castle!"

Someone tapped him on the shoulder. Luigi turned to see Mario, his brother, alive and well, standing beside Princess Peach.

"Hey, bro, I've saved the princess. Take her to safety," Mario said, his voice warm and reassuring.

Luigi stared at him, his eyes wide with disbelief.

"M-Mario... you're alive?"

Mario looked at him, confused.

"Yeah... Luigi, are you okay, little bro?"

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine. I'll take the princess to safety," Luigi stammered, still trying to process what was happening.

Mario nodded, and Luigi led Princess Peach to safety. As Mario defeated Bowser and sent him plummeting into the lava, the castle began to collapse. Mario ran through the crumbling structure, dodging debris and breaking blocks. Time seemed to slow as Mario reached out to Luigi, their hands clasping at the last moment.

Mario looked at Luigi and smiled.

"Well done, bro... Now pull me up—"

Before he could finish, Luigi yanked him up with all his strength and pulled him into a tight embrace, tears streaming down his face. Mario, though confused, hugged him back.

"You were the star today, Luigi!"

Luigi continued to cry, his mind replaying the nightmare he had just escaped.

"I saved him... I saved him. I didn't betray him this time... and I never will," he thought to himself.

After delivering Princess Peach to the Mushroom Castle, night fell. Mario took Luigi home, and the two brothers settled into their beds—Mario in the top bunk and Luigi in the bottom.

"Goodnight, Luigi!" Mario called out cheerfully.

"Goodnight, Mario," Luigi replied, his voice soft.

As he lay in bed, Luigi whispered to himself,

"Thank goodness... maybe it was all just a dream after all."

The scene shifted to outside the world Luigi now inhabited. Xeno Mario sat on his throne, the Ultimate Super Star glowing faintly in his hand. Princess Peach, her eyes glowing red, stood beside him, laughing wickedly.

"What a clever idea, my dear... but why create another world and rewrite its ending to suit Luigi? I don't understand. Don't you want him to suffer for what he did to you?"

Xeno Mario turned to her, his grin widening as he let out a hysterical, bone-chilling laugh.

"Because he'll remember what he did to me... every time. In his dreams, in his nightmares, in his reality... he'll never forget those moments with me. As long as he lives, until the day he dies, he'll carry the weight of his betrayal. And that... is how I've taken my revenge."

Princess Peach laughed, her voice dripping with malice.

"Ah, I see now. Clever as always, my love. Well, My lord has excused me, so I'll leave you to rule alone for a while."

She bowed mockingly and left with Yoshi and the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom, leaving Xeno Mario alone on his throne. He laughed maniacally, his voice echoing through the void. Then, he turned to the player, his grin impossibly wide.

"Well... a satisfying ending, don't you think, player?"

He waved his hand, and a black screen appeared, covering the scene. The words "Game Over" flashed across the screen, followed by:
