Chapter 17 – Sharon POV
I was in my room, lying on the bed with Liam, a book in my hands—'100 Ideas to Investigate a Disappearance.'
Yeah, I knew Liam told me to stop but i couldn't . And yeah, nothing proved that Madeleine was kidnapped or worse than this . She was a grown woman. She could have left on her own.
But something inside me wasn't convinced. something inside of tell me to investigate .
Liam was already fully asleep beside me while I kept reading. Everything was quiet. Normal.
Until I heard footsteps.
At first, I thought it was my imagination. cause this days i was too tire so maybe its me ?
Then, they came closer.
And closer.
My heart pounded. No. This wasn't in my head.
Its real someone is in the house ...
I shook Liam awake. "Babe, wake up! There's someone in the house."
Liam groaned, half-asleep. "Yeah, yeah, someone's here. That's cool."
I pushed him harder. "I'm not joking, Liam. I heard something."
He sighed, rubbing his face. "Sharon, stop hallucinating. We have a high-security alarm system. No one can enter without the code."
Then, the footsteps started again.
This time, Liam heard them too.
He shot up instantly, fully awake.
"My gun, Sharon." His voice was sharp, alert.
I got up, shaking, and reached under the bed where we kept it. "Yeah, wait—here."
Liam grabbed it, holding it steady as we moved downstairs together, step by step.
The house was silent. Too silent.
Liam flipped on the light. Nothing.
Not a broken window.
Not a single thing out of place.
Then, we turned our heads to the other side of the room—
And there it was.
Written in bold, Pink letters on the wall:
TICK TOCK Watch The CLock ...
REVENGE TIME IS COMING.
WHO WILL BE THE FIRST TO FALL?
