Love? Lena didn't believe in it anymore.
Once, she thought love was something beautiful—something worth waiting for. But in the end, it only brought her pain.
It was February 14th, XX24—Valentine's Day. A day for love. But for her, it was just another normal day.
Lying on her bed, mindlessly scrolling through Instagram, her phone suddenly vibrated.A message popped up from a username she didn't recognize.
A message. From an unknown account.
"Hey."
Kinda curious to know who it was, so she replied.
"Uh....Hey. Do we know each other?" she typed back.
The reply came quickly.
"No, I just saw your profile and thought you seemed interesting."
Lena raised an eyebrow. Was he just being friendly, or was this another guy trying to flirt?
" Interesting how?" she replied.
" I don't know… You just have a unique vibe. Like someone who thinks a lot but doesn't say much."
That caught her attention. Most people wouldn't notice something like that just from a profile.
" Huh. That's kinda accurate," she admitted.
" See? I have good instincts 😉" William replied.
Lena smirked. Maybe this wouldn't be such a boring conversation after all.
" So, do you always DM strangers and analyze their personalities?" she teased.
" Nope. Just when I'm bored. And today seemed like a good day to do something different." William said.
" Ah, because it's Valentine's Day?"
" Yeah Everyone's either out on dates or complaining about being single. I figured, why not start a random conversation instead."
Lena chuckled. " Interesting logic."
For a while, they just talked-about random things. Favorite music, weird childhood memories, embarrassing moments. It felt surprisingly natural, like talking to an old friend.
Then, out of nowhere, William typed:
" You know…I don't usually text random girls, but something about you makes me want to talk more."
Lena blinked at the message.
" Uh…is that a compliment?"
"Maybe." he replied. "Or maybe I just like talking to you."
Lena hesitated before typing.
"You don't even know me."
"True. But I'd like to."
Her heart did a weird little flip.
She wasn't sure how to respond, so she changed the topic.
"You're pretty bold for a stranger."
"You're pretty guarded for someone who keeps replying," he shot back.
Lena smirked. "Fair enough."
A moment passed before he sent another message.
"Can I ask you something personal?"
Lena hesitated. "Depends on what it is."
"Why do you seem…sad?"
Her fingers froze over the keyboard.
She exhaled slowly. Should she really open up to someone she barely knew?
