My Reincarnation
"My lady, please wake up! It's your 18th birthday, and you don't want to be late for breakfast with your family," Miriam urged, trying to rouse me from sleep.
I groggily opened my eyes, still feeling the remnants of slumber. "Uhhhh, go awayyy," I mumbled, snuggling deeper into my bed.
But then, realization struck me like a ton of bricks. I jumped up from my bed, and the maidens present in my bedroom gasped loudly as I almost fell off.
"Gosh, I'm alive!" I shouted, excitement coursing through my veins.
Miriam looked at me quizzically. "Of course, you are, my lady."
I beckoned the maidens to come closer, and they hesitantly obeyed, fearing they might have done something wrong.
But instead of scolding them, I pulled Miriam into a tight hug. "Thanks for living, okayyy!" I exclaimed, pulling her cheeks and making her spin around.
The other maidens couldn't help but smile at my antics. I hugged them all countlessly, feeling a deep sense of gratitude and connection.
After the impromptu hug fest, I instructed Miriam to prepare my bath, Leah to inform my parents that I'd be down for breakfast soon, and Millicent to sort out my clothes, shoes, and jewelry.
As they scurried off to complete their tasks, I leaned back against the headboard of my bed and stared into space.
Zeus had granted my request, and I had promised to marry Emperor Phoenix, my true soulmate – not that traitor Atlas.
A Vow of Revenge
Those two – Sarah and Atlas – had destroyed me in my past life. But this time, I was ready. I had traded everything for this second chance, and I wouldn't let them get the better of me again.
I vowed to plan carefully, to be cautious, and to make them pay for what they had done to me.
And it just so happened that Sarah would be attending my birthday banquet at dusk. The perfect opportunity for revenge had presented itself.
"My lady, your bath is ready," Miriam announced, breaking my reverie.
I stood up, smoothing out my dress, and made my way to the mirror. My glowing, radiant face stared back at me.
I took a deep breath, feeling my heart beat rapidly with anticipation. Today was my birthday, but it was also the start of my journey for revenge.
Downstairs, my family awaited me, but my mind was already at the banquet, where Sarah and I would finally meet again.
And as I descended the stairs, a chill ran down my spine. Something didn't feel right. The air seemed thick with an eerie silence, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched.
Suddenly, a faint whisper echoed in my ear: "Happy birthday, Seraphina. Your revenge will be sweet... but will you survive it?"
My heart skipped a beat as I spun around, but there was no one there. The whisper seemed to come from all around me, echoing off the walls.
I took a deep breath, my mind racing with questions. Who was behind the whisper? And what did they mean by "will you survive it"?
But I didn't have time to ponder those questions. My family awaited me, and the banquet was just hours away.
I smiled sweetly, hiding my growing unease. It was time to put on a show, to pretend that everything was normal.
But little did anyone know, the game of revenge had just begun...
