Chapter 4 - Information

It's morning again, or afternoon, or night. I don't know because there are no windows, and the only source of light here is the torches placed here and there. But I'm willing to bet that it's still morning or at least noon because I hear many footsteps above like they're busy doing something.

Anyway, this is a brand new day in not so brand new place. After I told the story of 'Beauty and the Beast' to Boa's sisters last night for a few hours, it was tiring because they asked a lot of questions about the details in the story, such as 'What kind of devil fruit did Prince Adam eat?' or 'who controls the furniture of the palace?' It took a long time to explain the logic of the story of 'Beauty and the Beast' to the world with fantasy power.

But I'm satisfied I could tell the story and bring us closer together. More importantly, Sandersonia and Marigold looked better and relaxed, although there was still fear in their eyes. But it's better than nothing, right?

Now, on this new day, what can I do? I can tell another story to Boa's sister, it can make us closer, or I can chat with Imran and ask more about this world because, of course, I know the main story of One Piece. But there is still a lot that Oda didn't tell in one piece, but after I think again, information is more important for now.

So I went to Imran

"Granpa Imran." It looks like Imran is talking to Laila, the chef that Granpa Imran introduced me to yesterday.

"Yeah, boy. Do you need something?" Grandpa Imran turned his face towards me with a question mark, and Laila just sat there smiling and nodding slightly. Seeing her nodding, I also nodded, indicating I recognized her existence.

"I wanted to ask because, you know, amnesia makes you lose your memory."

"I know what amnesia is boy, I'm old not dumb."

"So because I lost my memory, I have to start learning all over again, so can you help?"

"Yes, I can help, and you can also ask Laila here or some other people. As I said, they can help you in other ways, and answering questions is one of them." Imran pointed at Laila, who was waving her hand slightly.

"Yes, I'll try."

"Good, what do you want to know." Imran looked at me with a serious look on his face. It's good to see he really wants to help me.

"Maybe start with basics like money and dates?" I asked somewhat hesitantly because my knowledge of this world is strange, to say the least. What person doesn't know the date but knows about the truth about the Ohara incident or a once-flourishing race of lunarians now on the brink of extinction?

"I'll share what I know, but feel free to ask others for more specific information."

--

I gathered some insights from what Imran shared. Firstly, it's currently February 1505. Imran isn't certain of the exact date because, as I mentioned earlier, there is no natural light here—no sunlight at all. As a result, he also doesn't know what day it is, but it's likely around the middle of the month.

Secondly, the primary currency used here is berries, which are issued by the world government and widely accepted across nearly all regions. While some countries may still have their own currencies, they will generally accept Berries as well. The exchange rate varies by country or island, but typically, 100 Berries can purchase a loaf of bread in most areas. As a simple comparison, 1 Berry is approximately equal to 1 Japanese yen.

Our current location is unknown for now, but according to Imran's estimation, we are not too far from Mary Geoise. Traveling there may take 3-4 more days, at most a week.

The thought of Mary Geoise gives me goosebumps because that's where the bastard nobles live, and I, as the slave of those bastards, headed to.

"Imran, do you know what work we will do as slaves?" I know Mary Geoise is home to many slaves, including personal slaves who are carried around by nobles. There are also worker slaves who push the heavy weight of the travelators and escalators daily. Despite having the technology and resources to automate these systems, they chose to have the slaves do it instead. But is that all they do, or is there more I don't know about?

"Hmm, I'm not sure, as I've never been a slave before, but from what I've heard, in addition to being free labor, they also have a colosseum or some sort and also a special building for experiments and torture."

I... never heard of that, the Colosseum, the torture, and the experiment chamber. I guess it's only fair that those places exist because they're bastards.

Now I understand why the Boa sisters were given the devil's fruit. Maybe it's related to the Colosseum. From what Imran tells me, the Colosseum in Mary Geoise was not just a place of entertainment for the nobles, where they made the slaves fight to the death, but also a place of execution. Usually, the convict would be thrown into a colosseum filled with hundreds of hungry monsters with only a sword.

The Boa Sisters may have been given a Devil's Fruit to fight in the Colosseum.

"Brother Vincent." Suddenly, a voice called my name, interrupting my train of thought.

I turned around and saw Boa Hancock standing a short distance behind me.

"Yes, Hime?" Heh, Hime. I started calling her Hime because she wants to be like Princess Belle, but I think Hime is more suitable for Hancock because her future nickname is Hebi Hime, which means Snake Princess.

"ahh umm, Could you please tell us again about Princess Belle and the Beast? I would like to hear it again." She asked me with a happy and hopeful face, like a puppy. I thought she was pleased that I called her 'Hime.'

"Sure, let's go to your sister's, and maybe I can tell you another princess story." I walked towards Marigolds and Mandersonia in the corner. Their faces looked hopeful for their eldest sister to take me there and tell the 'Beauty and the Beast' story again.

I think it's going to be another long day.
