With a furious roar from the Three-Tails Isobu, a gigantic water sphere shot out at astonishing speed, heading straight for Senshi.
"30 Million Volts: Thunder Beast!"
With a wave of his hand, Senshi summoned a massive, storm-like beast formed of crackling blue lightning.
Zzzt, zzzt, zzzt!
Huge arcs of lightning flashed and danced, exuding a terrifying aura. The colossal thunder beast collided head-on with Isobu's Water Release: Great Water Mass Bullet.
Boom!
Rumble…
As the giant sphere of water and the 30-million-volt thunder beast clashed, pillars of water exploded in every direction. But Isobu's Great Water Mass Bullet stood no chance against the thunder beast.
Bang—
In short order, the water cannon was shattered, and the crackling thunder beast plowed right into the Three-Tails' massive frame, smashing it sideways.
Angered beyond measure, Isobu refused to hold back. While sliding backward, it curled up into a huge spiky ball and rolled back at Senshi, aiming to crush him under its full weight.
But Senshi showed not the slightest concern. Off to the side, Genji and the other leaders of the Kiri, who were watching, felt a chill.
Genji couldn't help calling out:
"That's the Three-Tails' taijutsu, Shadow Stroke—both offensive and defensive! It's formidable. What's that ninja trying to do? Quick, tell him to dodge!"
Heeding Genji's words, Terumi Mei shouted from a distance for Senshi to get out of the way. But there was no time: confronted with the Three-Tails going all out, Senshi didn't even try to avoid it. He even looked excited.
"Lightning Release: Lariat!"
Molding lightning chakra throughout his entire body, Senshi transformed himself into a bolt of blue electricity and dashed headlong at Isobu.
This turtle-ball "rollout" move combined the Three-Tails' best offense and defense, while Senshi's own lightning armor boasted the strongest shield. Which was superior would be revealed in moments.
Boom—
This collision was far more intense and shocking than before. In an instant, man and beast slammed into each other with a crash like thunder, sending monstrous energy rippling outward in all directions. Towering waves surged and battered the lakeshore.
Isobu was slammed backward yet again, sliding along the shoreline. Shaken silly, it had to wonder whether it was really the Tailed Beast or if Senshi was the Tailed Beast. Senshi's fighting style was more like a beast's—brutal and unreasonable, utterly dominating it!
Bang!
Skidding through the water and flailing up sprays of mist, the Three-Tails staggered but quickly regained its balance. At once, it let loose its ultimate trump card—a Tailed Beast Bomb!
When Genji and the other top executives saw this, their expressions turned grim.
"Look out! That's the Tailed Beast's strongest weapon, the Tailed Beast Bomb!"
Sensing the terrifying buildup of power in Isobu's next attack, Kisame said with mock concern:
"Think that brat Senshi might have screwed up this time and be killed?"
Kakuzu stayed quiet, pondering whether it might be better if Senshi lived or died. On one hand, Senshi's relentless mission grind was great for revenue. On the other, Kakuzu did want a slower pace. Maybe it'd be ideal if Senshi got a bit injured—enough to reduce his insane mission schedule—without losing that enthusiasm for taking jobs.
However, Kakuzu was clearly overthinking it.
Sensing the tail-end potency of Isobu's Tailed Beast Bomb, Senshi refrained from using anything too lethal. He didn't want to kill the Three-Tails—he had other objectives.
"200 Million Volts: Thunder Dragon!"
He estimated that going beyond that would risk killing Isobu, which would sabotage his other two missions. After all, with the ninja-world adaptation, his Thunder Dragon was considered a type of enhanced Lightning Release technique.
"Rooaar—!"
A deafening draconic roar sounded, and a gigantic lightning dragon formed instantly, arcs of lightning crackling as though containing both the power of the thunder beast and the speed of the thunder bird. It surged straight at the Tailed Beast Bomb.
Boom!
Rumble…
The impact was earth-shattering, as though space itself tore open with a thunderous roar.
Kra-BOOOM!
Senshi's 200-million-volt Thunder Dragon was pushing near Ten-Tails-level strength. Such a technique could be used even against the Ten-Tails, let alone the Three-Tails. Isobu's Tailed Beast Bomb, like a flickering candle in a bright moon, was instantly swallowed by the lightning dragon. The Thunder Dragon, its impetus hardly diminished, proceeded to slam into the Three-Tails:
Boom—
The massive beast was hurled through the air, crashing into the forest behind it. In an instant, the Three-Tails was completely defeated—essentially crushed.
Rooooar—!
From the distance came a furious growl. Yet it could do nothing against this human who fought like a Tailed Beast himself. If anything, Isobu was thinking, "Maybe we should swap places. Let him be the Tailed Beast."
What was worse, the Three-Tails had landed in a dense forest, away from witnesses. Senshi instantly flickered over with a burst of lightning and appeared above its head.
He spoke in a cold voice:
"Isobu, your power is too strong! You need to be—contracted."
Boom!
At those words, Senshi unleashed a "head pat of doom." With a single palm smashing against the Three-Tails' skull, a contract seal forcibly spread across its entire body. The Three-Tails tried to resist, but to no avail.
Rooaar—!
Furious at being forced into a summoning contract, it thrashed and snarled. Senshi, however, didn't mind:
"Lightning Release: Lariat Waltz!"
He promptly gave Isobu a series of severe beatings—
Pow! Pow! Pow! Pow!
The once-enraged beast fell silent and cowered in the forest. Even fighting other Tailed Beasts, it had never suffered such a savage beating.
Having forced the Three-Tails to submit, Senshi pointed toward the large lake:
"Go back to the lake."
Hearing this, the Three-Tails wanted nothing more than to get away from this "human Tailed Beast." Already battered, it had no choice but to obey. By the time Terumi Mei and her companions rushed over, they arrived just in time to see the terrifying scene of Isobu seemingly "tamed." With one gesture from Senshi, the Three-Tails lumbered back to the lake, submerging itself once again.
Seeing this, Genji and the other Kiri leaders felt as though it was all too unreal. They had anticipated a huge disaster. Yet in the end, Isobu barely did anything before being hammered back into the depths. Countless shinobi looked at Senshi with utter fear.
From the Blood Mist faction, Hōzuki Getsuki, Karatachi Tachii, and Kondō Ryū were practically coughing up blood. They had known about Kondō No's plan, which looked promising enough—if Isobu actually ran wild. But Isobu had barely gone berserk for a moment when that monstrous Senshi smacked it down so hard that its eyes shone with near-clarity.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Before the entire Kirigakure's stupefied onlookers, the Three-Tails trudged back into the lake. It had no choice, having been thrashed into submission. Anyone could see that Senshi hadn't even gone all-out.
Among them, Genji and the high officials of the Kiri felt deeply moved. They had expected a tragedy akin to the "Tailed Beast rampage," yet in the end, the beast never really got rampaging, thanks to the mysterious ninja Terumi Mei had hired—someone who had forcibly suppressed Isobu and driven it back underwater.
Genji and the village seniors came over to Terumi Mei, exclaiming:
"Terumi Mei, you've done us a great service! You saved the village from catastrophe!"
Earlier, many of them had presumed she was being duped; after all, in this era, who could match the legendary Senju Hashirama or Uchiha Madara? Yet seeing the battle with their own eyes, they realized maybe such a being truly existed—and that was Uzumaki Senshi.
Upon hearing Genji's praise, Terumi Mei responded modestly:
"Lord Genji, this was my duty."
She'd always felt a strong sense of belonging to the Kiri, despite its issues. Genji, satisfied, continued:
"So, could the village convince this mighty ninja to stay on as one of us?"
Given Senshi's incredible strength, if he were willing to join the Mist and protect it, that would leave them free to develop without fear. Yet Terumi Mei shook her head:
"I'm not sure. However…"
She paused before continuing:
"…we can maintain a working relationship using commissioned tasks."
Though it baffled them, this unbelievably powerful ninja seemed fixated on taking "jobs." But one thing they knew: as long as a legitimate commission was given, no matter what, Senshi would accept and carry it out at one-hundred-percent success. Recruiting him into the village might not be feasible, but forging a partnership via ongoing commissions certainly was. Perhaps they could even negotiate a discount?
Hearing Terumi Mei's explanation, the others exchanged looks. With his strength, if he wanted to join a major village, he'd be welcomed like a king, maybe even start a mighty clan there. They might let him marry some ideal partner to pass on his excellent genes. Even Terumi Mei didn't understand why Uzumaki Senshi was so obsessed with unending missions.
