Chapter 2 - The Dawn Rises

The sun rose above the desolate landscape slipping into the room shining directly into Jax's eyes casting him in a golden glow, the sun made his handsome face even slightly more good looking then before, the sun hit his tanned olive skin making it shine, he opened his eyes slowly revealing his green eyes which sparkled like emeralds in the sunlight that was hitting them.

Jax yawned and whispered to himself "i wish every morning could be this nice"

He sat up and got out of the bed, the bed seemed to groan as he moved, he looked down at the bed and said quietly "shutup already", he stood up and walked over to the window and looked out at the wasteland, the landscape wasn't as pretty as the morning sun, however the damaged city skyline breaking up the suns glow was almost as pretty, in stark contrast the streets littered with dead decomposing half eaten body's and cars that were torn open by the morphs that were littered on the ground was quite the opposite of being anything considered pretty, just looking at it made his stomach churn threading him that something vile would come out if he didn't look away, he had seen this sight plenty of times but nothing changed how it made him feel, in a way it was a good thing.

Looking out further at the building he could see morphs crawling and trying to hide as the sun started peaking its head out, Jax wasn't really sure why the morphs didn't like the sun, but it was a good thing for him and Heather, it allowed for them to move during the day and camp at night. The only unfortunate part was that Jax was stronger at night while Heather was stronger during the day, their powers complimented eachothers weakness nicely, but it sometimes made Jax feel like deadweight.

He turned around and looked at Heathers sleeping body, her face always looked so pleasent when she was like this, it was as if she was a sleeping angel, the sun hit her face in a nice way making her glow, Jax couldn't help but smile at her. He walked over to her sleeping body and touched her cheek gently and whispered "Heather wake up" he shook her gently.

she opened her eyes smiling at him making his heart stop a little, she cleared her throat "goodmorning jax".

He smiled warmly and said "goodmorning", he could feel his heart beating in his chest as she looked at him with those piercing blue eyes, he was a little worried that she might hear it but the thought passed quickly.

For a minute he was almost able to forget about where he was as he stared at her beautiful face, her pale skin contrasted nicely with her black hair and blue eyes, the freckles around her nose and cheeks were pretty in their own way as well. Jax spoke up "come on we have stuff to do today" Heather looked at him curiously and said, "you talked about that yesterday what did you mean by that".

He smiled as he was looking down at her and said "i think i'm finally ready to get out of here Heather, you remember that one guy that we ran into who said something about a human settlement far to the east behind the mountains". Heather nodded her head slowly remembering the man that they saved from some morphs a few months back and said "of course but how can we even be sure that all of what he said was true".

Jax rubbed the back of his head thinking about it before saying "well i guess we just have to have some trust" even though he didn't like his answer anymore then she probably did he gave her a gentle smile.

Heather grinned at him and said "ever the optimist huh", Jax rolled his eyes and shoved her shoulder gently, his push made her fall backwards on the bed, she giggled as she fell back, her breast swayed a little as her back hit the bed, Jax tried his best to not think dirty thoughts about her as he bit his lip and turned away from her, his face flushed red slightly from embarrassement.

Heather looked at the back of Jax's head not really sure why he turned around so suddenly and said "is something wrong jax"

Jax cleared his throat "no nothing, i'm just thinking that we need to get start on packing our stuff and getting out of here before it gets too dark".

He turned back towards Heather his face now a little less flushed and his thought a little… cleaner, he reached out a hand to help her up and said "come on we got plenty to do".

Heather and Jax were now busy at work packing things up making sure that everything was ready, Heather turned around towards Jax getting his attention and said "the only thing we really need more of right now is food" she looked down at the lack of food that they had and showed it to Jax, Jax nodded in agreement and responded "damn i didn't realize just how low it was, we will have to do a bit of searching along the way then".

Heather gave him a worried glance before saying "okay but that store has nothing else left in it at this point, and i hate having to look at all those dead body's in there" her spine shivered a bit thinking about it.

Jax nodded and said "i'm sure we will find more food when we head further east, well that is if there is actually a human settlement that way" his face was grim, he wasn't sure how normal humans who weren't genetically modified like him and Heather would survive on they're own.

Heather kicked jax softly and replied "hey weren't you the one who said we should have a little trust, at least try and make me believe your lie dummy", Jax smiled and responded "sorry i'll try a little bit harder, i didn't think someone with such a small brain would need so much convincing" he grinned at her, she kicked him again this time a little bit harder and said "watch it".

A few minutes pass while they were packing everything up and getting ready to move out and jax cleared his throat and said "alright i think we are ready to get out of here", Heather nodded picking up the backpack, Jax also picked up his backpack and gave the room one last look over before saying "Let's get out of here".
