"Not this lune again." Victoria mumbled, sighing as she saw Isabelle outside of her bakery's window. Oh, how Victoria despised Valentine's Day. The sickly-sweet decorations, the overwhelming scent of roses, and, worst of all, Isabelle.
Suppose it isn't as bad as she would make it out to be—after all, Isabelle's appearance was nothing out of the ordinary. She would always show up at Victoria's work practically every day for a coffee and a muffin, staying longer than necessary with that disgustingly insufferable, cocky grin of hers. But during the holidays? It was much worse.
Isabelle would come in with extravagant gifts to try and win Victoria over. Today was no exception, Isabelle stood outside, holding a bouquet of roses. Though Victoria couldn't make it out she saw Isabelle's lips moving, likely rehearsing her idiotic nonsense she had prepared for today.
Victoria rolled her eyes; she was already tired of Isabelle before the encounter had begun. Sure enough, only after a couple minutes, the bells above the entrance jingled, indicating Isabelle's arrival. She strode inside, her cocky confidence being prominent as ever.
"Will you b-" Before Isabelle could even finished her question, Victoria shoved a muffin into her mouth, not wanting to hear the headache of a sentence she would ask.
"Absolutely not. How many times must I tell you that we will never be together again?" Victoria angrily snapped, it was basically every year that sentence would be asked, but that persistent fool never gave up no matter how many times she got rejected.
"Come on, you're acting like we broke up on bad terms or something." Isabelle leaned on the counter as she finished chewing up the muffin. A glare was shot at her, making Isabelle stand up straight again.
"Never mind," she mumbled, clearing her throat. "I'll just take my coffee and go." The moment Isabelle said those words Victoria slammed a steaming cup of black coffee on the counter, her glare unwavering.
Isabelle placed the bouquet on the counter and then grabbed the cup of coffee, but before she could exit the bakery, she had the audacity to blow a kiss at Victoria. The action immediately earned her a slap for the idiotic behavior. She stumbled back, clutching the reddening skin, not expecting to get slapped. Even after the slap, Isabelle still had that mischievous gleam in her eyes.
"So cruel. What have I ever done to you?" She whined dramatically as she walked toward the exit. Victoria let out a scoff, watching Isabelle make her way outside—only for her to plop down into a chair right in front of her bakery.
Absolutely unbelievable.
Through the window, Victoria could see Isabelle menacingly sipping on her coffee. She tried ignoring her, trying to focus on making more baked delicacies, on the customers, on anything but the persistent lunatic who was watching her smugly like she wasn't just slapped across the face.
Occasionally, Isabelle would steal glances inside the bakery, only to be met with Victoria's scowl. She would always look straight back down at the ground when she saw Victoria's face. Not long after the cup was empty, and Isabelle decided to go into the shop for the fun of it. She waltzed back inside the building, tossing the empty cup into the trash acting like she owned the place.
Before Isabelle could even get a word out, Victoria hurled an empty coffee cup at her head, luckily Isabelle was quick enough to dodge the attack by ducking. She shielded herself with her arms as she waited for the barrage to end. As quick as Isabelle was to dodge the throw, the attacks were quickly stopped as Victoria had run out of coffee cups.
"You know, there are less violent ways to turn someone down." Isabelle said, dusting herself off. "But honestly, I'm starting to think you just like throwing stuff at me."
Victoria crossed her arms. "Is it really that hard for you to not make a fool of yourself for one damn day?"
The question was ignored entirely by Isabelle as she clasped her hands together in an exaggerated plea. "Can't I perhaps get one date with you? Pretty please, with a cherry on top?" She batted her eyelashes, along with jutting her lower lip slightly.
Victoria groaned, rubbing her temples. She knew Isabelle so damn well, she knew that the persistent prick would never stop until she got what she wanted.
"God dammit, fine." She sighed, finally agreeing on the date. Isabelle gasped, her hands flying up to cover her mouth in pure excitement.
"But only this once." Victoria added. "And after this, I better not hear you mentioning anything about another damned date."
Victoria held up her hand to silently say that she wasn't done talking. "And this crap of a date isn't happening until tomorrow. There's no way in hell that I'm letting people thing we're out together on Valentine's Day of all days. That's just asking for rumors, and I refuse to be associated with the likes of you ever again in my life."
"Fine by me!" Isabelle chirped. "As long as I get a date with you." Victoria couldn't help but let out another sigh, she was already starting to regret her decision, and the date hadn't even begun yet. Victoria would have thought that Isabelle would leave like a normal person after she just accepted the date, but of course, Isabelle would have to gloat about her little victory.
"Vicky just accepted my date offer!" Isabelle shouted for the entire shop to hear. "You guys all heard that right?" She said looking at the group of people that were chuckling from the interaction.
"This is unbelievable. I should've thrown the entire damn coffee machine at your retarded head." Isabelle then began wiping some imaginary tears from her eye.
"I would like to thank everyone who believed in me," she said pretending to choke up. "The journey was long, the rejections were heartbreaking, but in the end—love prevails." Isabelle placed a hand on her chest as she sniffled and wiped more imaginary tears from her eyes.
"Keep talking and your next kiss will be from my fist." Victoria threatened, cracking her knuckles like she was going to swing at Isabelle.
Isabelle raised her hands up in surrender. "Woah, woah. No need to get so violent, love. You know, violence is never the solution."
"Maybe it isn't, but it sure as hell makes you know your place."
"Alright, alright, I'm going. Don't gotta threaten my life because of an act." Isabelle slowly backed away to the entrance, her hands also going back down. "I'll see you tomorrow!" She blew another kiss at Victoria and quickly fled, fearing for the worst.
