Chapter 9: Shisui's Warning – An Unexpected Alliance
---
The night was silent again.
But this time, I could hear the village breathing.
People sleeping. Guards patrolling. The rustling of leaves.
A stark contrast to last night—when Root's assassin nearly turned my home into my grave.
Danzo wouldn't stop. That much was clear.
The question was: how far would he go?
The answer came faster than I expected.
---
An Uninvited Guest
I sensed him before I saw him.
The air shifted slightly, a presence lingering just beyond my vision.
Someone was watching.
I didn't react, continuing my walk toward my usual training spot.
Only when I reached a secluded clearing did I stop. "You might as well come out now."
Silence.
Then—a flicker of movement.
A shadow materialized from the trees, landing lightly on the ground.
Shisui Uchiha.
He stood with his arms crossed, dark eyes studying me carefully. "I thought I was the best at sneaking around," he said, smirking slightly. "Guess I was wrong."
I smirked back. "Or maybe I just knew you were coming."
Shisui chuckled, but his expression quickly turned serious. "We need to talk."
I already knew why.
---
The Warning
Shisui took a step closer. "I'll get straight to the point."
His gaze sharpened. "Danzo marked you."
I didn't flinch. "I figured."
Shisui frowned. "Then you should know—he won't stop until you're either dead or under his control."
That, too, was obvious.
I leaned against a tree. "Let me guess—you came here to warn me?"
"That, and to ask a question."
He narrowed his eyes. "Who are you, really?"
His stare was piercing. Not just physically—his Sharingan had activated, scanning me for even the slightest hint of deception.
Clever.
If I was lying, he'd know.
I sighed. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you."
Shisui raised an eyebrow. "Try me."
I smirked. "Alright. I'm just an orphan with max talent, max intelligence, and max battle IQ. Oh, and I'm also ridiculously good-looking."
A beat of silence.
Then—Shisui laughed.
A genuine, amused laugh. "That… might be the most honest answer I've ever heard."
I grinned. "See? Told you."
His expression sobered. "Even so, someone like you… Danzo won't ignore."
"Let him try," I muttered.
Shisui shook his head. "No. You don't get it. He's not just after you anymore."
I tensed slightly.
Shisui's voice lowered. "He's moving faster than before. He's not just targeting you—he's accelerating his plans against the Uchiha, too."
My eyes narrowed. "You mean—"
"Yes," Shisui said grimly. "Danzo is preparing to steal our eyes."
---
An Alliance Against Root?
I exhaled slowly.
So, Danzo wasn't just after me. He was gearing up to betray the Uchiha entirely.
I expected it—but not this soon.
Shisui's gaze was firm. "That's why I came to you. I need to know if we're on the same side."
I met his stare. "And if we're not?"
Shisui's chakra subtly flared. "Then I have to make sure you're not another enemy."
A test.
I could respect that.
I smiled. "Relax, Shisui. I have no love for Danzo. If you want to take him down, I'm with you."
Shisui studied me for a long moment.
Then, he nodded. "Good."
He offered his hand.
I clasped it.
At that moment, an alliance was formed.
Shisui Uchiha and I—against Danzo's Root.
---
The War Begins
Shisui crossed his arms. "So, got a plan?"
I grinned. "Oh, I have plenty."
Danzo had underestimated me once.
He wouldn't get a second chance.
