Chapter 4 - Truth

When Eldrin touched the seventh statue, something amazing happened: it turned into a shadow and entered his body! For a moment, Eldrin felt like his head was on fire and his brain was boiling. The pain that affected his soul was almost too much, but he couldn't faint. Strands of ice flowed towards his body, colliding with the invisible heat that enveloped his body. It made Eldrin feel like every inch of his flesh and bones was cracking!

Eldrin put up a great fight, and the determination he'd built up since he was just a kid really shone through. He kept going until all the shadows had entered his body.Once he'd taken in the last bit of shadow, Eldrin's spirit finally settled in, his vision grew blurry, and the goddess' temple gradually disappeared. In his blurry eyes, Eldrin saw his mom's lovely, concerned face, and he finally relaxed and slipped into a peaceful slumber.

"I got two abilities. Mom will be proud of me!" Eldrin thought subconsciously in the floating darkness.

In the attic, an obvious crack appeared on the altar of the Moon Goddess. This rare altar was damaged during the ceremony. Elaine was pale, and a trickle of blood flowed from her lips, but she was unaware of it. She just frantically checked Eldrin's body. When she saw that his body was intact and not damaged at all, she was relieved. But when she found a small shadow hovering between Eldrin's eyebrows, her face changed again.

There were lights and moonlight in the attic, and Eldrin was lying on his back, so no matter which light source was used, it would not cast a shadow on Eldrin's forehead. The small shadow was like mist and smoke, slowly moving, but it was condensed and did not disperse. This was a shadow that ordinary people could not distinguish at all, but Elaine, who still had the power of the fifth crescent moon in her body, could see it. She trembled and reached out to touch it. She felt a faint, cold tingle on her fingertips, a sensation brought on by the strange dance between the shadow energy and the power of Elusia.

"Shadow creature?!" Elaine exclaimed, her voice quivering with surprise. She gritted her teeth and once again inserted her fingers into the shadow between Eldrin's eyebrows, quietly reciting a prayer she had not used in a long time. This was the divine foresight that Elaine hadn't quite mastered back then, but at this moment, her heart was already in turmoil. In her mind, only this divine spell could reveal the origin of the shadow between Eldrin's eyebrows, and no matter how slim the hope was, she had to give it a try.Since she lost her status as the high priestess, she also lost the favor of the goddess and all her magic. It was a desperate act, but Elaine didn't expect the magic foresight to work.

A picture appeared in front of Elaine's eyes. It was endless darkness and chaos, with only energy. There was no moon or stars. In the chaos, huge shadows were slowly swimming. The seemingly chaotic trajectories finally converged on a track, pointing directly to the final clear destination, which was Little Eldrin!

The image flickered, and Elaine felt a wave of exhaustion wash over her. She was left with no energy to even move.Even if she had had the strength, the sight had left her feeling desperate.Shadow is different from darkness. It's a kind of energy without a real existence, and it naturally has spatial attributes. There are countless types of shadow creatures, and most of them wander between planes aimlessly, seeking the chaotic energy that sustains them. They're tricky, dangerous, and strong, which makes them a favorite food for mages and a scary enemy for anyone they encounter.Shadow summoning is a spell that's been around for a while, and it can be made stronger from level 6 to level 9. But there's a tiny chance it might not work, and if that happens, the shadow creature might lose control and attack the magician. It's no surprise, then, that there are stories every year of mages being swallowed by these creatures. The shadow between the little Eldrin's eyebrows showed signs of life, but it wasn't fully formed. Its energy wasn't strong, and an ordinary sacrifice could purify it. Its role was akin to that of a lighthouse, marking a position in the vast and intricate plane universe and beckoning a large group of shadow creatures to enter this plane. This was precisely what Elaine had glimpsed in her foresight.Alas, even if this shadow was erased and purified, it was too late. The group of shadow creatures had already obtained the coordinates and set off.

When a large group of shadow creatures began to attack the plane, little Eldrin had only two possible outcomes: either he would be destroyed by the violent energy conflict, or he would be possessed by the most powerful shadow creature and lose control of his body forever, becoming a container for the shadow creatures.

No one can clearly explain the laws between planes. A shadow creature crossing may take hundreds of years to complete the journey, or it may reach the destination in a month.

"How could this happen?" Elaine whispered to herself, her voice cracking with emotion as she embraced Eldrin. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked up through the skylight, her gaze falling upon the fifth crescent moon, still hanging high in the starry sky. There, she noticed a faint trace on the moon, reminiscent of dried blood. It seemed that the power of the crescent moon had mutated, which had led to the change in the enlightenment ceremony. But if she was still the high priest of Elusia, the enlightenment ceremony wouldn't have changed. Is this a punishment from Elucia?Elaine thought sadly. She didn't have the energy to complain about fate or feel sorry for herself. She carried Eldrin downstairs, then carefully placed him on the bed and covered him with a blanket.Eldrin frowned a little in his sleep, but smiled from time to time, showing that he had dreamed of many happy things. He was a very beautiful boy, his little face just beginning to lose its childishness and already quite handsome.Elaine stared at her child quietly; he was the focus of her life for ten years, although ten years was only a short time for her with a long life, but it seemed as long as a lifetime.Little Eldrin grew up very fast, but he was a little more immature than human boys of the same age, which was only because of his bloodline. With the lineage of the Silver Moon Elves running through his veins, Eldrin had a natural life of almost five hundred years. His features beautifully blended the Silver Moon Elves' delicate beauty with their rough, hard-working nature. Only Elaine could see the depth of his character.

The little shadow still hovered and played upon Eldrin's little face.

Elaine let out a soft sigh, kissed Eldrin's forehead, and gently left the room. She sat down alone in the living room, gazing at the night sky, and the past gently flowed through her heart like water. Those nights almost condensed the intensity, hatred, and love of her entire life! And now, she had to recall it again.Outside the window, the blood-stained fifth crescent moon quietly moved away, and the sixth crescent moon, shining with a unique golden light, had already risen. When the seventh crescent moon appeared, it would be morning. The light of the seventh moon finally shone through the window, lighting up Elaine's face. She looked a bit tired, but also more beautiful than ever. The mirror on the wall reflected her beautiful face. This was how she had looked for the past ten years. She had almost forgotten what she looked like. This was the grace that only the Silver Moon Elves could possess.

She stood up, carefully took out a piece of magic paper covered with star patterns, and spread it on the table. Then she took out the well-sealed magic pen and checked it.Fortunately, the magic power of the ink preserved in the magic pen made of griffin tail feathers was still there. This was ink made of unicorn blood.Although there were only a few drops left, the letter she wanted to write was not long, so it was just enough.

But the feather pen felt like it weighed tons in her hand. She held it up for a long time, but couldn't write a single word. When the first ray of sunlight shone through the window, she smiled and whispered to herself, "The one who can destroy the Elf King's Court should be able to deal with the shadow life, not to mention that another ten years have passed..."

She finally convinced herself, and began to draw an exquisite magic circle on the top of the star pattern paper. She wrote a long name:Gordon, Isaiah, Cetanistria, Malificus. The moment she wrote the name, the magic pen vibrated, and the entire name under the pen tip began to shine, emitting a faint red light, like a burning flame. When the flame went out, only a faint mark that was almost invisible remained of the long name. The mark was faint, but it was there, clearly visible on the star pattern paper. As long as that precious paper remained intact, the mark could not be erased. As a former high priestess, she had a deep understanding of the secrets of blood. The burning flame indicated that the name written with magic power had touched the law and had been sensed by the owner of the name. Then, everything she wrote would cross time and space and be directly transmitted to the owner of the name.

The magic pen stopped in the air again, and the hand holding it was shaking slightly. The signs just now also showed a fact: this is indeed Gordon's real name.Although she has never doubted it over the years, this is the first time to confirm it. With this knowledge, she could cast a powerful curse on him with just a little magic. Even though Gordon is now a legendary strongman, he can't resist the curse. The real name is the most important secret of some bloodlines.

This guy actually told others his real name casually...

She couldn't help thinking, but the slight emotion was immediately replaced by the memory of a large burning and decaying forest. Her hands felt icy, but the shaking stopped. She wrote a few short lines, and then it was time to sign. She paused for a moment, and finally wrote her name in the same elegant handwriting as before:Ilani Moonsong. The star-patterned paper burned brightly and turned to ashes in the blink of an eye.The information written on the paper had been sent to distant places through ancient and mysterious laws.

As she put down the magic pen, Ilani also put down all her melancholy, becoming calm and beautiful.
