Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 – Moving In With the Devil

Morning came too soon.

Selena barely got any sleep, her mind racing with everything that was about to change. She was about to move in with Adrian Wolfe. A man she barely knew. A man who saw emotions as transactions and relationships as strategies.

She shoved the last of her belongings into a suitcase, ignoring the nagging voice in her head telling her this was a mistake. It's just six months. Just business.

A sharp knock on the door made her jump.

She took a steadying breath and opened it.

A sharply dressed man stood there, wearing a black suit and an expression as unreadable as Adrian's. "Miss Carter?"

"Yes?"

"Mr. Wolfe sent me. Your car is waiting."

Right. No turning back now.

She grabbed her suitcase, took one last look at her tiny apartment, and followed him outside.

A sleek black car was parked at the curb. The driver opened the door, and as soon as she slid inside, she felt the shift in her world.

The ride to Wolfe Tower was silent, tension pressing against her chest. When the car finally stopped, she was met with the sight of the towering glass building that housed both Wolfe Enterprises and Adrian's private penthouse.

She barely had time to admire the view before a familiar, deep voice called out—

"You're late."

Her gaze snapped forward.

Adrian Wolfe stood at the entrance, hands in his pockets, looking as effortlessly commanding as ever. His charcoal suit was tailored to perfection, his expression unreadable.

Selena straightened. "You said morning. It's 9:01 AM."

His lips twitched in amusement, but his eyes remained cold. "In my world, being on time is already late."

She rolled her eyes, dragging her suitcase behind her as she followed him inside. "Good to know I'm living with a time-obsessed control freak."

He ignored the comment as they stepped into the private elevator. The doors slid shut, enclosing them in silence.

As the elevator ascended, Selena found herself hyper-aware of his presence. He was too close, too composed, too unreadable.

Then he spoke. "There are rules, Carter."

"Of course there are," she muttered.

"You will attend public events with me as my fiancée. You will stay at my side when required. No unnecessary scandals, no reckless behavior."

She crossed her arms. "You mean no embarrassing you?"

His eyes flicked to her, sharp. "Precisely."

Selena sighed. "Anything else, Your Highness?"

Adrian ignored her sarcasm. "The engagement ring arrives later today. Wear it at all times
