Synopsis
“My parents died protecting me.” “I only wanted a better, average life with my younger brother, but life knew how to punch you in the face. Nothing ever goes like I wanted.” “I started with the thrashest F-level trait possible, but so what? I’ll never surrender or resign myself to fate.” — Ash. Two hundred years ago, humanity opened portals to other dimensions, but involuntarily, they ended up bringing their worst nightmares to Earth—otherworld monsters that killed everything in their path. Mana came with the beasts, strengthening humanity’s bodies and allowing them to awaken traits to fight against the beasts. Yet they were still too weak. The only option found for surviving was to enter other worlds, steal their resources, and empower themselves to fight against their enemies. — This novel is inspired by one of my favorite Korean novels, which I had the pleasure of reading. However, the setting is entirely different. If you have read it, you'll likely recognize it in the prologue.

Chapter 1 - Prologue

Shimmering screens were scattered across all of Earth. All of them showed the same scene.

Not a single person on Earth could take their eyes away from the events unfolding on those screens.

Displayed on them was a single human facing dozens of thousands of soldiers. On his back, a simple wood-cutting axe was sheathed.

But nobody would underestimate him because of his weapon choice, because they knew: that wood-cutting axe had seen more blood than a hundred women in all their fertile periods during their lives.

Nobody knew his real name, but he made his first appearance a few years ago, and they all knew him by a single name—Warrior.

'A hero will sacrifice the person they love to save the world.'

While watching their screens, the audience murmured.

"He's back."

"He blocked the Empire's forces all by himself."

"No one knows where he is from."

"That guy is insane. Is he from Earth or Agan?"

As the commanding officer leading the arm approached the man, the video screen closed in on the commanding officer's handsome face. His long blue hair flowed with the wind.

"Do you think you can stop us on your own?" He said.

The man didn't respond. His dragon-like helmet covered all his head, making his expression indecipherable.

"Why are you fighting us?" the commanding officer asked.

The commentator introduced the commanding officer, although unnecessary, because not a single soul on Earth didn't know him.

"He is Gabriel Frost, a man with an SSS rank trait, war maestro, and also the guild leader of the strongest, Ice Dragon Guild, a genius on large-scale tactics and commands."

"Let me ask you this instead, why are you fighting these people?"

Although his voice was low, being infused with mana, he could be heard all across the battlefield.

"Because…" Gabriel carefully chose his words.

The answer is obvious; it was because they needed to steal their resources to empower their rankers and battle against the invading monsters on Earth.

This was a shameful action that was widely accepted on Earth. This was the way they found to survive and grow strong enough so they didn't have their planet annihilated by the invading otherworld monsters.

"Because they are our enemies," he replied.

"How so? They only want to live their lives in peace. You were the ones that came to kill them," said Warrior.

"If you bother us any longer, you too will become our enemy," said the commanding officer, his expression hardening.

"Is that how you betrayed others' trust, massacred the innocent, and reaped their resources?" Warrior laughed. "You are a man who does not know honor."

"Are you also from Earth?"

"Listen carefully," Warrior said as he raised his eyes, which were glistening inside the helmet.

'A villain will sacrifice the world to save the person they love.'

His powerful presence on the screen made it seem as if he was glaring at everyone beyond the screen.

Then Warrior raised his voice. It rang boldly across the plains as well as out from screens and into the ears of those watching.

"I'm a warrior."

"A warrior doesn't forsake faith."

"A warrior doesn't persecute the weak."

"A warrior doesn't attack unarmed people."

"A warrior doesn't yield to injustice."

"A warrior doesn't shame the gods."

"A warrior pays back any favors or vengeance."

"A warrior protects the powerless."

"I swear to the gods, I will abide by these laws as a warrior."

Warrior raised his wood-cutting axe. "I shall prove my honor."

Murderous intent rose from Warrior's body.

The ground shook, and the commanding officer and his army took a step back.

Warrior smiled. "Come."

'I chose to be both.'
