Chapter 1 - Prologue

The sky was clear the sun lazily hanging like it had nothing better to do.

Raj and I sat on the cracked rooftop of an old building, legs dangling over the edge, watching people live their boring, repetitive lives. Cars honked, kids cried, street vendors shouted same old noise, every day.

I sighed "Raj, what do you think? Why do we even live?"

Raj glanced at me, raising an eyebrow. "That's deep for a Tuesday."

"I'm serious,"

I muttered, leaning back on my elbows.

"Why not aliens come to Earth? Why does everything feel so boring, like... like life forgot to add excitement for us."

Raj chuckled. "Maybe we're just background characters in someone else's story."

"You're right," I said, staring at the empty sky. "I'm tired of living like this. How do people do it? Every day feels the same.

Eat, sleep, repeat. A loop of boringness."

Raj didn't reply.

"I mean," I continued, "we've been living on Earth for 17 years, and nothing horrible or dangerous has ever happened.

I want " I paused, thinking. "I want an alien attack… or zombies… something.

Anything to break this endless routine."

Raj snorted. "Careful what you wish for."

And then it happened.

The sky tore open with a blinding blue light, as if the universe overheard my wish and decided to be sarcastic. It wasn't a shooting star or a plane. It was… alive. The light stretched across the sky, pulsing like veins in the clouds, humming with a sound I felt more than heard.

We both stood up, shielding our eyes.

Then people started screaming.

I whipped around. The street below was chaos. Some people fell to their knees, clutching their heads. Their bodies twisted unnaturally, skin turning grayish-blue, veins like dark cracks spreading beneath.

"Raj…?" I whispered, feeling a chill crawl down my spine.

Raj didn't answer. I turned to him—he was trembling, eyes wide, pupils shrinking to pinpricks.

"Raj?" I grabbed his shoulder. His body jerked, and then he collapsed to his knees, gasping. His skin darkened, his veins bulged.

"No, no, no—what's happening?!" I shook him, but his head snapped up so fast it made my heart stop.

His eyes were gone. Just empty, black voids. His jaw unhinged, revealing sharp, jagged teeth.

"Raj…?" My voice was a whisper now.

He lunged.

I ran.

The streets below were worse. Monsters. Everywhere. People I knew—neighbors, friends, strangers—turning, their screams morphing into guttural growls. Blood splattered walls, cars crashed, windows shattered.

This was it. The alien attack. The zombie apocalypse.

I got my wish.

And I was going to regret it.
