They say your high school years are when you will experience many things, discover yourself, and learn new emotions. Happiness, sadness, disappointment, hopelessness, sometimes you want to give up, other times you don't. It will be difficult. However, that's life and no lives have gone by without some of those sad moments which will soon become memories we look back at.
As for Win, a transfer high school student who had just transferred to his rival's school, He seemed very happy on his first day here. Of course, his last school and his current school are rivals, however, his purpose of being here is to achieve his dream of joining the national team. The place where he is standing right now is where multiple national members from different generations come from. This is where he will strive for his dream and this is where his life will be filled with unforgettable moments.
*Win opens the door to the gymnasium*
Heavy footsteps and shouting from multiple people simultaneously are heard through the gymnasium as soon as he opens the door. From there, he can already see just how big the place is with different spaces for different sports like basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, and more. However, he is here for badminton. This is what he is here for.
Win walks through the gymnasium to the badminton corner, where he is met by the coach, a tall, middle-aged man. They greet and exchange some formalities, and then Coach Nicolai gathers the players to introduce Win.
" Alright, everyone, this is Win, our new member. He just transferred from NM School and he got in here by our sports scholarship program so you can say that he is a good player or maybe even better than some of you "
Nobody seemed happy about his remarks. Some were already scowling and giving Win a look, which he noticed but couldn't say anything about. Win had already expected this kind of reaction but did not think it would be this uncomfortable.
Suddenly, a voice was heard from the group of students. Everything was in slow motion when the voice's owner stepped out.
" But, sir, isn't he from our rival's school? "
" He is, however, now that he is here now. We should all welcome him "
The student snickered and then looked directly into Win's eyes.
Umm… What is this dude doing? Why is he glaring at me like he is ready to end me in two seconds? Though, he kinda looks familiar… Where did I see him?
" Coach Nicolai, you said he got here on a scholarship and is better than some of us… however, is he better than me? "
" I mean I'm not so sure about that "
" Well, I am sure that you are no better than a wannabe national. Am I right, Win? "
Judging by the way the student speaks, Win can already tell that they have met before and it was not a good ending. That student is no other than Kim, his biggest enemy.
Tall, black wavy hair and his face has a deep feature but is also soft at the same time. With almond eyes, sharp eyebrows, high nose bridge, and light pink lips, he is basically what you call a rare beauty. That aside, his aura is what scares Win. If eyes could kill, it would be Kim's.
Kim's POV:
As soon as I heard his name, my ears twitched. I haven't heard that name for some time now. This is interesting.
Whatever the coach said was true in some aspects but he was never better than me. Never.
I knew for sure it was him when I saw his face. Deer eyes, soft brows, nose, and lips perfectly align like a masterpiece. He truly has the look of an average good-looking guy. Nothing special, there is always this one thing on his face that always bothers me. The mole on his left brow. It's irritating but somehow it always caught my attention.
I stared at him provokingly after saying my greeting to him. His gentle face looks scared but stubborn. His lips quivering, ready to say something but couldn't do it.
I smirked and turned to my coach. " Coach, if we're going to let him join our team… we should at least see how capable he is "
As Kim requested, everyone agreed to a training match to test Win's ability. Since Coach Nicolai loves to brag about it so much, let's see how it goes.
The tension is rising as each match goes on and on and I may say, Win is not that bad. His strikes are more powerful and his stance is as firm as ever. Not many players can have such balance. If anyone sees him playing, they would think that he might play for the national team. He has improved so much and I'm a little pissed off about that.
As for me, I continue to win throughout the matches and finally, we have come to the final match where Win and I are playing against each other.
I know he has gotten better but I'm also confident in myself.
The match started as soon as the coach blew the whistle. I served him with a light tap and the shuttlecock flew back and forth, from me to Win and from Win to me. As it looked like he was getting a hang of it, I immediately gave him a heavy smash, making the shuttlecock land on his side of the net and everyone cheered.
He looks a bit taken aback but it made me smile seeing him like this.
" I suppose you need more practice "
" You're right, however, we're not done yet now are we? You only score one point after 7 minutes "
I chuckled at his words.
"Okay, let's continue then"
The second round started and this time he served. Again, the same thing happened with the shuttlecock flying across the net back and forth, then he started progressively adding more strength to his smashes and I added mine when I noticed.
This time we started running around the court, to prevent the shuttlecock from landing on the ground.
His smashes are getting more and more aggressive. How can he keep such a calm expression on his face? No matter how much I hit back, it seems that he is already getting a hang of it. No, I can't let him-
Getting lost in my thoughts, I didn't see the shuttlecock landing slowly near the net.
This bastard. He's suddenly using a soft hit so the shuttlecock can land near the net while I am far away. Cheap move.
Everyone in the court stood there shocked as he outsmarted me with this move.
" I may need more practice, but you need to be more aware of your opponent "
I shot him glares as he then smirked.
This annoying bastard.
