Chapter 1 - Preface

It is believed that in the land of Selvatico, the dwellers are gifted with special abilities to see beyond the normal by communicating with their inner spirits. Also, the old ones were rumored to possess great powers like controlling certain elements and balancing the forces of nature.

In Selvatico, everyone has a spirit that gives them distinct special abilities. Some possess clairvoyance, super speed, super strength, whilst others have skilled knowledge and wisdom. Above all, they can hear, see and feel the abnormal. Of course, they are lesser gods and they are feared and respected by other human races and neighbouring kingdoms.

These spirits associated with each individual are formed and shaped through their personalities. Your type of person determines your inner god, your Chi. A representative of who you are in the ethereal world. Therefore, everyone has a different aura with different colors. That is why they are called "The Selvatico" (untamed). By the age of fifteen, a Selvatico born should be able to balance and control its Chi. Their inner god must have taken a form. An animal form except the forbidden Snake, the Basilisk, which has never happened in a millennium. The first and last Basilisk was a villain who sought to dominate all things that walks, breathe or lives on earth. Her powers were so great and cunning, it took almost an entire destruction of both the human and spirit race to bring her down. Her soul could not be destroyed so it was locked away, securely drowned under the harsh currents of the Sea of Doom...

Well, nobody expects it to reawake or reincarnate but the old ones feared the unknown and made an unprecedented law that, "any child does not possess a spirit animal by the age of fifteen will be considered as cursed and will be sacrificed by draining the blood of the cursed one to restore the natural balance of the chi." Everyone found this amusing because no one in Selvatico has ever been without powers, it was a thing unheard of and unspoken. What would they know?
