Chapter 71 - Chapter 71

When Sucrose learned about Takumi's purpose, she was relieved.

"Mr. Takumi," she said. "Everything I've researched is here. Let me introduce you."

Sucrose gestured toward the potted plants in front of her.

Takumi's gaze followed her hand, settling on the various plants.

"This is Test No. 66 wheat," she explained. "If nothing goes wrong, it could grow to the size of a thumb."

"This is Test Item No. 85. It seems to have failed—it turned out sweet."

"This is Test No. 92. It grows in the shape of a star."

Takumi listened to her explanations, feeling confused.

A thumb-sized wheat? A failed sweet one? A star-shaped one?

After thinking for a moment, he asked about the yield.

"What about the output of the thumb-sized one?"

Sucrose blinked and quickly grabbed her research notes.

"This one has several times the yield of regular wheat," she replied. "Because it's larger."

"But…" she hesitated.

Takumi raised an eyebrow. "But?"

Sucrose scratched her cheek in embarrassment.

"Since the fruit is so large, it might crush the stalk," she admitted. "So it's still being improved."

"But I have a new approach," she continued. "If I can fuse No. 66 with a wheat stalk that only grows without setting seeds, it might work."

"If that succeeds, we might finally have high-yield crops."

Hearing this, Takumi nodded.

It made sense. If the grains were too big, the stalks couldn't support them.

"Miss Sucrose, your work is impressive."

"What about these others?" he asked, gesturing at the remaining potted plants.

Sucrose hurriedly continued her explanation.

"These haven't matured yet," she said. "I'm still monitoring them."

"However, based on this particular specimen, its yield should be high."

"I just don't know if it can survive yet."

She pointed to a specific pot.

It looked like the only normal one among the experiments.

Listening to Sucrose's explanation, Takumi nodded.

"Alright!"

"I look forward to seeing the results."

If this research solved food shortages, Ningguang could start planning for population growth.

Takumi believed that Liyue's population was still too small.

If they didn't have at least ten million people, what was the point?

After staying a little longer, Takumi left the lab.

As soon as he stepped out, Klee ran toward him.

"Brother Takumi!"

"Do you want to go fry fish together?"

Excitedly, she invited him to join her.

Hearing her request, Takumi rolled his eyes.

"No frying fish today."

"I have work to do."

"Klee, go on your own."

"The high-voltage electricity will be installed soon. I need to oversee it."

Klee looked a little disappointed but didn't argue.

She nodded obediently.

"Okay, Brother Takumi."

Since Takumi was busy, she wouldn't disturb him.

"Then I'll go fry fish by myself!"

Humming a little tune, Klee ran off happily.

Takumi shook his head and didn't think much of it.

Instead, he returned to Wangshu Inn, picked up Shen He, and set off for Mingyun Town in his car.

While driving, Takumi glanced at Shen He sitting beside him.

She sat in the passenger seat with her usual blank expression.

The seatbelt framed her perfect figure.

However, from the moment he met her, Shen He had never changed her outfit.

This puzzled Takumi.

He couldn't hold back his curiosity.

"Shen He, don't you ever change your clothes?"

Hearing Takumi's question, Shen He looked at him, confused.

"Why would I?"

"Do you mean after bathing?"

Takumi was stunned.

"Just one outfit?"

Shen He remained expressionless as she answered.

"This outfit was given to me by my master."

"Any dirt is automatically cleansed."

"So there is no need to change it."

Takumi realized it was an enchanted garment, likely imbued with adeptal magic.

Understanding this, he shook his head.

"Even so, you should have other clothes."

"I'll buy you some when we get back."

A sly smile appeared on his face.

He recalled the fan illustrations he had seen on certain forums.

Seeing Shen He wear something different in real life would be even better than an illustration.

Just imagining it made his heart race!

Shen He, though puzzled, didn't argue.

Takumi's word was law.

Since she was now his assistant, she would do as he asked.

Takumi continued chatting with Shen He to keep the conversation going.

Before long, they arrived at the dam above Mingyun Town.

As they drove past, Takumi saw the tall electrical towers standing in a row.

Everything was built according to his specifications.

Many workers had already gathered at the dam.

Bundles of high-voltage wires had arrived.

At that moment, the foreman was discussing how to install them.

When they saw Takumi's arrival, everyone paused their work.

The foreman hurried over.

"Mr. Takumi!"

"What brings you here?"

Takumi's unexpected visit surprised him.

Glancing around, Takumi asked, "Is everything ready?"

"Are you about to install the wires?"

The foreman nodded.

"Yes."

"We plan to have a few strong workers climb up and secure the wires."

"Once they're in place, we can connect them to the power station."

Hearing this, Takumi nodded approvingly.

"Be careful."

"Carry on."

"I'm here to install the generator."

Takumi had no objections to their plan.

He wasn't sure how electricians from his past life handled this process.

But in Teyvat, they had their own methods.

There was no need for him to worry.

After the discussion, Takumi headed toward the base of the dam.

Reaching an open area, he activated his abilities.

He began generating the necessary machinery based on the dam's layout.

Shen He watched in silent awe.

An entire generator appeared out of thin air.

What kind of power was this?
