Chapter 1 - The well

"Jack, are you alright?" Daisy sounded scared and troubled. She couldn't see the bottom of the well, only heard Jack's moans coming up from the bottom. She looked around - May or Karen weren't nearby. She and Jack were left alone. She felt cold. Maybe it was because of dampness of the dark cave they all descended into without proper clothing or maybe, just maybe, she felt the fear lurking in the darkness.

"No! Ahhh.... "Jack moaned. His voice was unusually hoarse as if he had injured his vocal cords, but it was still Jack, her brother.

"Are you alright?" Daisy repeated her question, hoping that Jack would now be able to answer more clearly.

"I... I think I broke my leg..." He continued in a low hoarse voice, without the slightest tint of hope in his tone. Daisy felt terrible, she couldn't do anything to help. All she was able to do was to reassure her poor brother.

"Hold on, May and Karen should be around somewhere. I will find them..." Daisy was interrupted by Jack.

"No, please, stay here!" Jack was begging and Daisy couldn't refuse him. Besides, she was the reason he fell into the well in the first place. Daisy has always been a clumsy girl. Jack knew about that, but a minute earlier that knowledge slipped out of his mind, and his sister accidentally pushed him. Now, he was at the bottom of the unknown well, in the strangest cave where no one had been for ages.

"I'm sorry, Jack, it's my fault. We shouldn't have descended into this one. It was my stupid idea." Daisy has already punished herself twice for coming to the unknown place. First was when May and Karen, who just wanted to spend their quality time together were pressured to join this 'fun' expedition, and now was the second time.

"I... don't think... it's your fault... "Jack's voice was now barely audible and has become even hoarser than before. Was he dying? Was he in need of urgent help?

Daisy trembled of that idea. She wanted to check up on Jack. She took out a miniature flashlight and threw the light beam into the well. It was too dark and too deep to see a thing. Her body was shivering with the immense feeling of guilt, and she couldn't keep a steady calm grip with her cold hands. Suddenly Daisy was hit by a revelation - it was not a cold, it was a crawling fear. Then, as if out of nowhere Daisy heard steps behind her. She pointed the flashlight in that direction and scared Karen.

"Damn you, Daisy! You scared me! "Karen became enraged in a second. She rushed closer to Daisy and knocked out a flashlight out of her hands. It fell right next to Daisy, pointing on the well.

"I'm sorry Karen... "Daisy was feeling guilty even more now. Karen injured her arm and even May couldn't relax her.

"Where is Jack? I'm so tired of this shitty cave. Let's go back."

"He fell down... "Daisy closed her eyes. She was almost ready to cry. Karen got really scared. When she noticed the well, she came closer and bent over the edge to see what was going on. She called Jack. He muttered something unintelligible, which wasn't of great help.

"Because of you, Daisy Scallon, we are stuck in here!" Karen was furious. Jack was a perfect guide for such traveling endeavors. He could easily find a way in and out of every cave, but now, with him injured, they couldn't find the way out.

"Hey guys, look what I found!" Shouted a voice in the darkness. May appeared, holding a piece of cloth that looked more like an ancient tapestry. She expressed a lot of interest in the object and showed her finding to the others.

In the dim light of a flashlight it turned out to be an old tapestry indeed, which depicted a devilish creature with red eyes sitting on the well. Karen suspiciously looked at Daisy.

"Is that the same well Jack fell into?"

"Seems like it" Daisy uttered in a trembling voice. Karen gazed at her, ready to hit her right in the face. May, who didn't know what was going on quickly grasped the situation and gasped like she always did when Karen was ready to turn her 'rage mode' on. May did enough to distract Karen and saved Daisy from receiving a potentially hardcore hit, but a sudden shout that felt inhumane has shocked them all. Girls ran to the well, calling out for their guide, but he didn't answer.

"We have to give him a rope!" May took out the rope out of her backpack and threw one end into the well.

"Grab the rope Jack!"

There were loud sounds of teeth clacking, then - hissing, then - the rope was cut.

"What is going on? Where is Jack? "May began, but shut up because she couldn't ignore the weirdest strangest noise that was ascending. Something was climbing up the walls. Girls used the flashlight and saw a terrifying body of Jack, whose legs were bent in the unnatural direction and hands were gnawed. He was clinging to the edges of the well attempting his way up. His face was distorted, and his grin revealed huge sharp teeth. When Jack noticed three silhouettes looking down at him, he started to crawl faster, which made the girls run in panic. Karen stumbled onto May, who fell down, and hit a stone with her head. There was a strong smell of blood everywhere. Daisy was sitting on the ground that was soaked in blood and crying. She broke her leg, felt pain and wasn't able to move. She saw May crawling towards her when the girl was attacked by Jack. Parts of her flesh got stuck between his bloodied teeth. Jack was smiling as an insane who escaped the asylum. He crawled closer to Daisy looking her in the eye.

"I should thank you, my dear. Without you, I would have waited there forever. "He uttered through his teeth and hissed.

"Please, don't eat me, I'll get more folks down here! Please! "Daisy cried out with her voice trembling with hysteria. She hoped that whatever became of Jack would spare her life.

"Sorry, yummy, I'm hungry". Jack gave her a creepy smile.

"No-o-o!" Daisy burst in a storm of tears. Last thing she felt was her brother's sharp teeth all over her face.
