Chapter 1: Adamus!
Savant Kingdom, Thousand Mountain State, Outskirts of Ouloba Town.
"And that makes it seventy." A white-haired young man spoke as he cleared his forehead of sweat with his dirty hand, his right arm holding a hoe.
His mood was calm, his eyes sharp, and his breath steady.
He was wearing a white shirt as dirty as his hands and steamy with the sweat of his labor; beneath his legs were rows and rows of farmland, of which he tended to 70 each day.
There were 4 other individuals who helped him, and with their collective experience, they were able to take care of it in a reasonable time span.
7 hours of work a day was the minimum if they didn't slack off.
*Huff*
He breathed out and looked up. Since he woke up early, the sun was high in the sky by now, and he had to use his hand so as not to be blinded by it, and then he looked down.
"Adamus! Haha, you're done? Lucky you, you've finally got enough money to stop this hellish work." A distance away from him, a man with a straw hat was approaching slowly while speaking.
He had some kind of plant on his mouth, and his eyes shone brightly while his smile almost made the usually cool young man smile back; it was contagious.
Adamus looked at the smile and even though he wasn't entirely willing, a small curve flashed on his face.
"I guess so, yeah." He said, his voice mature and rough.
"Ooh, your voice is as spooky as ever; it reminds me of my dad, haha." The man acted as if he was scared as he spoke.
The two men stood side by side; even though one was a young man of 18 and the other 23, they were of the same height, and they treated each other as equal; even their clothes were the same, apart from their blue pants; while Adamus wore his shirt above it, the other had his shirt below it, looking somewhat comical.
"The others should be done soon; after that, let's go get ourselves something to eat and go get our pay. Don't worry, it's on us, haha." The man laughed once more.
"So? Planning on opening that bread shop you told me?" he asked.
"Yes, I need to get enough money to buy a technique; I need that to meet the requirements of the baron's army." Adamus spoke, his gaze looking at the short walls of the town of Ouloba.
"Heeh, sometimes I envy you, man. The way you talk as if you have your entire life planned out makes us, who barely make ends meet, sleeping each night not knowing if we'll be able to eat the next day, lowly." The man stopped for a second and spoke in a low voice, his smile not as lively as before and his eyes squinted down.
"Nelson." Adamus looked at the man and spoke.
"What is it?" The man asked while facing Adamus.
"Don't speak as if you're a poor caveman. The money you make from this job each day is enough for you to live happily for a week if you don't spend it pampering yourself again." Adamus said, looking weirdly at the man.
"... *Sigh*, At least let me act poor." The man sighed and shook his head.
"Hey Adamus, Nelson, What are you doing there, Get your ass over here." From their side, One man followed by 2 others, all looking older than Adamus, called.
"Let's go." Nelson tapped Adamus' shoulder and started walking towards the men.
Adamus stood there for a second, looked back at the fields and closed his fists.
"I'm one step closer..." He said to himself, his eyes sharper as if reminiscing on the past.
For a young man to be so dedicated, so motivated, there surely had to be a reason, a reason that almost appeared in his eyes for a second.
As he walked towards the group, his mind wandered back.
It wandered to
a day; he knew not if he gained more than he lost.
------End------
Alright, the start of another great story from me, Stell. This little note here is just to tell you an important bit of info. This story doesn't have a typical MC, in fact, it doesn't have one at all, at least not at first. Since this is a family lineage novel, there will be multiple POVs, and you will follow most if not all aside from Adamus, from their birth to their peak.
Also, the first 20 or so chapters will be fast-paced, and only after the birth of the second generation will it slow down a good bit.
Alright, check out my other novel while you're at it; just add it to the library and read it once you're done here. Though it's not as good as this story, if you like OP villain novels, then check it out.
