ALEX:

It was a normal day like all others, bright sunny

morning, cheerful familia atmosphere, and a great start

to a great day, except this time, I had a feeling today

had planned quite an unexpected suprise for me. I was

requested to go and get some herbs, so that mum can

prepare soup for lunch, I didn't know why she couldn't

just wait till it was noon before she sent me, I didn't

want to get off bed but who was I to disobey the

woman that carried me in her womb, I forced myself up

and went to take a shower, and brushed ny teeth. It

took me 10 minutes to get ready, I headed downstairs,

greeted my dad, who was always in his rocking chair

under the morning sun, head back and eyes closed, his

dark brown hair flowing slowly with the morning breeze,

basking in the morning glamour, I guess. Mum is still a beauty queen in her prime, with her long red hair and

sapphire blue eyes, she was a sight for sore eyes, I went

and saw her in the kitchen, as usual, I gave her a

morning kiss and she replied, she gave me a list of the

herbs she wanted me to get, and I gave a pirate

response and headed out, encountering Chelsea on the

way, with her silky long brown hair, and her sapphire

blue eyes just like mine, she ran to me, giving me a

crushing hug,

"Can I come along? This house is too

boring"

, She whined,

"I heard that"

, Mum and dad said

in unison, I laughed as I patted her head,

"Won't take

long Chels"

,

"Promise?"

, She asked, man was she cute,

"I cross my heart"

, I said, making an X sign on my chest,

and reluctantly, she let me go.

As I was passing through the woods, I heard a howl, and

like always, I always took with me my bow and arrow,

just in case I wanted to go hunting, so I went in the

direction of the howl, which was in the opposite

direction from where I was going, I slowly approached

the arena and when I had reached there, I saw a young

girl, probably my age trying to get away from the

ferocious beast that is trying to attack her, I slowly

walked towards the beast placing two arrows on the

bow and aimed at the direction of the beast, which

turned out to be a wolf, I shot at it as it tried to pounce

on the girl, the girl screamed but the wolf fell at her feet,

she stopped screaming and turned at my direction, i

heaved a sigh of relief because the girl wasn't hurt, i

slowly walked towards her but increased my pace when

I heard a couple of howling coming in our direction, I

reach the girl and asked her to help me carry the wolf,

which she did, although it was quite heavy for her she

managed to lift it, I looked around for any of the herbs I

was sent to pick, and saw them in the direction of the

wolves, i held up my bow and arrow and aimed at the

wolves, I shot a couple of them and the rest were

heading straight for me, i just brought out one arrow

and stabbed the wolf that approached me, the other

wolves seemed to get the message and so they all

retreated to their caves, I gathered the herbs and

gestured for the girl to come over, at first she was

hesitant but then she came and I asked her if she came

to pick some herbs too, and she said nothing but just

nodded her head, I picked mine and picked for her, as

she tried to help me, I held her whimper on a low pitch,

I looked at her puzzled and then noticed her bleeding

on her foot, maybe she scratched her leg while trying to

escape from the wolf, I tied both our herbs together and

asked her to take it, as she took it away from me I

carried her and whistled, My horse heard my whistle

and quickly came to me, I lifted her on the horse and

climbed on taking my bow and arrows with me,

including the ones I shot the wolves with, I rode Spirit,

which was the name of my horse back home, I got spirit

on one of my birthdays, my parents said that they

specially kept him for me, I was so happy that I didn't

even know when the day ended, but either way I was

happy about spirit, I gave him that name because of his

speed, and we have been best of friends ever since...

As we reached my house, the girl behind me broke the

silence that we maintained since we started riding,

"Thank you for coming to my aid back there, I don't

know what I would have done if you hadn't arrived on

time and killed that wolf"

, she said as she tightened her

grip around my waist, I was feeling pain yet happy,

"Don't mention it, I was just passing by when I heard

you and I just couldn't leave, the name's Alex by the

way, Alex Walters"

, I replied after a moment of silence,

"Samantha Rogers, but you can call me Sam".

We reached my house and I carried Sam all the way to

my room and asked my little sister Chelsea, to bring

some warm water, a bowl and a first aid kit, she smiled

at Samantha before rushing to bring it,

"Don't you think

she's too young to bring all those things"

, I looked at

her. and smiled, looking down again,

"she'll figure it

out". A moment later my mom and Chelsea came into

the room bringing the materials I had asked Chelsea to

bring,

"Told you"

, I said to Sam as they set it up in in

stool, I placed sam's bruised leg on the stool and was

attending to the wounds when my mum asked,

"Alex,

who's this beautiful young lady you have here"

, Sam

blushed at my mum's compliment, she fiddled with her

hands as I treated her wounds,

"Her name's Sam, she

was attacked by a a wolf when I was on my way to get

the herbs you asked for and I quickly went to her aid

and brought the herbs from there"

, I said as I paused

treating Sam and loosened the herbs I had tied

together, separating sam's herbs from ours, I handed

Sam hers and have mum ours, mum went downstairs to

start the cooking while I finished up treating Sam's

wounds,

"Thanks"

, she said as I stood up and took the

materials, Chelsea came to help me so it was easier,

"You're welcome, you'll have to stay here for a little

while, we will be back and then we will go to your house,

she just nodded and I and Chelsea went out of the room,

and came back a few minutes later holding a 3 plates of

soup,

"Mum said you should have this before you go,

she gave me one to renew my strength, and Chelsea

just took one just so she could join us, I hope you don't

mind?"

, I said as I and Chelsea sat around the stool

facing Sam, Chelsea and Sam giggled, and then I

handed Sam her plate and we started eating, we

maintained the silence until the meal was over, we

rested for a while before finally setting out to leave for

her house.

I got on my horse, and she followed me, getting on my

back, my mum and sister wished us fair well as we

began out journey. I was having this feeling ofuneasiness whenever I was with Sam, the feeling of not

wanting to make a fool of myself in front of her, so I just

kept quiet and followed her directions as she led me to

her house. We were still going when I broke the

awkward silence between us,

"Is the way to your house

that far away?, how did you even walk all the way to the

woods with such distance?" I asked looking at her over

my shoulder surprised, she just smiled and giggled,

"I

used to do it with my parents when I was younger, so it

has become apart of me now"

, she replied, and then I

just nodded not knowing what else to say, I haven't

been or known any girl besides my sister, and I don't

understand what's going on with me or if she's feeling

the same way I am, but I was focused on bringing her

home and then maybe get familiar with her family.
