I never wanted any of this, never wanted monsters to appear out of nowhere and begin to cause chaos, never wanted to be part of the 'Monster Investigators Organization', never wanted to be part of the group to deal with an S rated monster, and never wanted to die in the process but they just had to happen.'
Kayla Nicole is a seventeen years old girl with dark hair and pretty eyes. She was born into an average family, parents who work at the police force, an elder brother who was currently schooling at one of the low-budget university and a twin sister who got times two everything she wished for.
Unlike her other siblings, Kayla was born with just an average look, she wasn't that intelligent to begin with and her bad character made things worst for her. People disliked her, never wanted to associate with her, and said she was bad luck... Nothing seemed to go well with things whenever she got involved.
Sometimes, she questioned her birth but then, wasn't her twin sister born the same time with her? Why was Tyla more pretty, inyelkiy, sweet, and kind than her?
Why do people love her twin sister and not love her as well? Why can't she be loved just like everyone else?
To crown it all, after the appearance of monsters, her life became worst.
Her twin sister was chosen by the government to join the new organization that was formed for the sole purpose of fighting against the monsters but instead of making her go, her parents forced her instead to join the organization in place of her sister, and that was how she ended up in the organization as Tyla Nicole.
Things had been moving quite good for her even though it was against her wish because she had only been going on simple missions.
But that particular day, she just had to join in the S rated investigation.
Their mission was to hunt down a S rated female monster and they were quite confident since the team were all A rank investigators... Unknown to them, the monster was a lot difficult to hunt than they had imagined.
Before they could do anything to the monster who went by the name Rica, half of the group had already been wiped out.
Kayla wasn't all that strong, the only reason she joined the group was because it was an order from their boss. One of the members was currently sick and a replacement was needed immediately, other investigators were busy only her. Thus, they asked her to join.
Before the fight could even get serious, she had already gotten severely injured, with her life hanging on the line.
The other investigators saw that she was going to become a hindrance and then moved on without her. "It was better to loose one person than to loose the whole team." This was their thoughts as they left her alone to die.
Seconds turned into minutes, minutes into hours, and before one knew it, the sky had turned dark.
She was currently in a forest miles away from their base and even if she was to survive, there was no way she would be able to return to their base on her own — She was truly left to die alone.
As the night crawled more and more, she was half asleep when she began to hear an approaching step. The dry leaves moved, creating sounds that drove fear down her spine.
As she looked, she saw the silhouette of a cloaked woman, she had glowing horns on her head and a tail behind her back. Her eyes widened in shock
It was the Rica, the same monster they have been searching for.
'What is she doing here? What happened to the investigators?' Kayla yelled inwardly with her eyes open in shock.
Rica's eyes gleamed with malevolence as she approached Kayla. Kayla tried to move, but her body felt heavy, her injuries screaming in protest. She was trapped, unable to escape.
Rica's tail swished back and forth, the sound sending shivers down Kayla's spine. The monster's eyes seemed to bore into Kayla's soul, and she felt a sense of hopelessness wash over her.
"No...please," Kayla begged, her voice shaking with fear. "I do not want to die, please."
Rica's face twisted into a cruel smile. "You should have stayed out of this, human," she sneered.
With a swift and deadly motion, Rica grabbed Kayla by the neck and raised her up. Using her other hand, she reached into Kayla's chest and grasped her heart. Kayla's eyes widened in agony as Rica's fingers closed around her heart like a vice.
"N-no pl-please," she cried but her pleas fell on deaf ears. Monsters were cruel, they wouldn't let their prey go free... It has never been done and will never.
Kayla struggled and kicked, but Rica's grip was unyielding. She felt her heart being ripped from her chest, the pain unlike anything she had ever experienced.
"Ah...no...!" Kayla screamed, her voice echoing through the forest.
Rica's smile grew wider as she pulled Kayla's heart out of her chest, she dropped her body to the ground afterwards. Kayla's body arched backward, her eyes frozen in a permanent scream.
And then, everything went black.
Rica stood over Kayla's lifeless form. She gazed down at Kayla with a mixture of curiosity and disdain, Kayla's heart still clutched in her hand.
With a flick of her wrist, Rica tossed Kayla's heart aside, and it landed with a soft thud on the forest floor, next to Kayla's lifeless body. Rica turned and disappeared into the darkness, leaving Kayla's body to rot in the forest.
Kayla's consciousness drifted through a sea of darkness, her mind foggy and disoriented. She tried to remember what had happened, but her memories were hazy and indistinct.
As she slowly came to, Kayla realized that she was floating in a dark, endless void. There was no light, no sound, no sensation of touch or smell. It was as if she had been erased from existence.
But as she floated around, Kayla's mind began to wander back to her life. She thought about her family, her parents who had always favored her twin sister Tyla. She thought about Tyla herself, who had always seemed to get everything she wanted without even trying.
Kayla's thoughts turned bitter as she remembered how she had always been treated like the inferior twin. She had always felt like she was living in Tyla's shadow, like she was just a pale imitation of her sister.
But as she drifted through the darkness, Kayla realized that she had never really had a chance to forge her own path. She had always been defined by her relationship to Tyla, always been seen as the "other" twin.
Tears pricked at the corners of Kayla's eyes as she thought about all the opportunities she had missed, all the chances she had never taken. She had always been so focused on trying to measure up to Tyla that she had never really lived her own life.
As the darkness closed in around her, Kayla felt a sense of regret wash over her. She had wasted so much time trying to be someone she wasn't, trying to fit into a mold that had been cast for her by others.
As she continued to float around, Kayla realized that it wasn't too late. She could still make a change, still forge her own path. She could still become the person she was meant to be.
And with that thought, Kayla felt a spark of determination ignite within her. She would not be defeated by her past, she would not be held back by her regrets. She would rise above, she would overcome.
If she would be given a second chance in life.
But as she made this vow to herself, Kayla realized that she was not alone in the darkness. There was something else there with her, something that was watching her, waiting for her...
