I woke up the next morning with a banging headache, I got ready for the day and went out to have breakfast, while eating I was informed that my father was waiting for me in his study, I hurriedly finished my breakfast and went out to meet him.
"Good morning father", I greeted him.
"Good morning", he replied.
I called you here to start discussions concerning the preparations for you marriage to Prince Alexander Silver.
Oh, I should have realised this was why you called me, I said.
There's no need to have pessimistic feelings to this marriage, think about the future of this kingdom, this marriage is beneficial to us and the millions of people who live in this kingdom.
Anyways I didn't call you here to try and change your mind, it has already been decided and you are getting married in six months and there's nothing you can do about it. My father said.
I'm just briefing you on what will happen in these six months time frame, after now all briefings will be conducted by the Royal press officer.
The Crown Prince of Avaloria will be arriving in 2 two days, the day after his arrival a press conference will be held which will be broadcasted in both kingdoms announcing your marriage to the Prince Alexander and on the secondary after his arrival an engagement party will be held. The invitation card are ready to be sent.
After my father finished talking I stood up and left his study to try to gather my thoughts and clear my head.
I went out to my sacred place in the castle, I came here whenever I was stressed or sad.
In the heart of the palace grounds, there was a secret garden. It was hidden behind a tall, ivy-covered wall, and the only way to enter was through a small, unassuming door.
Inside, the garden was a riot of color and fragrance. Flowers of every imaginable hue bloomed in abundance, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of roses, jasmine, and honeysuckle. A small fountain gurgled in the center of the garden, and a stone bench provided a place to rest and enjoy the peace and quiet.
The garden was a haven from the hustle and bustle of the palace. It was a place where one could escape the pressures of court life and simply relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.
I spent the majority of my day there and just went back into the palace to pack a picnic basket and a book to read.
Reading had always calmed me, it was a surefire way for me to forget about my worries. Anytime I read I immerse myself in the book, I play out the events in the books in my head as if I was directly involved in the actions that took place in the book. I read as if I'm the main character and the book is about me. I've always believed that a good book should have the ability to make you feel the same emotions the characters are going through, if a book doesn't do that to you then it just isn't good enough.
Once the sun started to set I packed up my things and headed back into the palace.
I went about the rest of my day, by deciding to just try and accept my fate as there was nothing I could do about it.
I had dinner and went to bed early.
The next day I had a meeting the Royal Press Officer to discuss the press conference. Although the press conference was going to be broadcast live all the media houses that were invited were given a set of questions which they were to ask. Both Prince Alexander and I were given these questions with a given set of answers to prepare on.
Although this was an arranged marriage, it was decided that it would be best if the citizens of both Kingdoms thought that we were getting married out of love so that we could receive support from them.
After I was given the list of questions I went to my room to work on them as the Press conference was in two days.
I was woken up early by my mother the next day to make sure all things were set in order for Prince Alexander's arrival.
A special menu was sent to the chef to be prepared for a welcome dinner which would be held to celebrate his arrival, the royal band was also sent for to play at the dinner.
Finally we were notified that Prince Alexander had arrived at the Veridia International Airport, this was at the capital city of Veridian and it was about a 2 hours drive from the castle which was closer to the outskirts of Veridia.
A driver was sent to pickup the Prince while all preparations were finalised in the castle.
Once they were on the driveway to the castle entrance I was notified and went out to welcome Prince Alexander into our castle. Although I didn't want to do it, it had to be done to keep up appearances and for publication purposes as pictures would be taken which would be released after the Press conference.
I stood in front of the door as the car pulled up, and then went towards the door to greet Alexander.
I tried my best to put a smile on my face, we were supposed to be in love so I couldn't actually make it look as though I wasn't happy to see him.
I smiled up at Prince Alexander, who looked at me with a look of disdain on his face. I hugged him, gave him a kiss on each cheek and invited him in with a promise to give him a tour loud enough for those around taking pictures to hear.
Once we were inside I turned to him.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" I said
He shrugged and glared at me
"Can't you talk?"
HEY! Answer me
Can you at least just pretend that you care about me in front of the press so that this whole charade can go smoothly? I asked him
This finally brought a reply out of him.
"Pretend?, Pretend?, why should I do that?" he asked, in a deep menacing voice
Why should I lie to the citizens of Avaloria?
I don't like you neither do I care about you, and I'm not about to start acting otherwise.
I stormed off and instructed the head butler to show him around.
I was so angry, what the hell is wrong with him?
As if I would actually be in love with a snob like him, does he think I want to get married to him?
I hated him just as much as he hated me.
I walked into my room to get ready for the welcome dinner, even though I wasn't happy to do this, I had to keep up appearances for the sake of my kingdom.
