Chapter 1 - The Start

It started as just another day, peaceful and hectic. As the warm sunlight shone on her face, she squinted her eyes to see the road ahead, careful of the passing vehicles. A few kids around her were chattering away as the talked about the latest trend unaware of the chaos brewing...waiting to engulf them.

"...And from then on, he was called 'Alexander the Great' ". Shiér listened to the history teacher, or more accurately the background voice. Not that she wasn't serious about her studies but she already studied this chapter though she wasn't wasn't really studios either but she just studied on a strange whim.

She was sitting near the window at the back of the class to enjoy the beautiful scenery outside....which like every other school was a plain, brown playground. Neverthless, it was still more interesting than the things happening inside.

Suddenly, she saw a ruckus at the schoolgate, seeing probably someone with a strange grudge to the school. Not much happening, just two people from school arguing with some Stanger at the schoolgate . Quite boring as they were just repeating the same lines again and again .

'Interesting either way, let's watch' ,thought Shiér as she now completely threw away the 'background voice' to the back of her mind.

"Sir, you can't enter the school, you are sick, please go back!" shouted the PE teacher, Mr. Baek in a stern voice as he tried to stop the strange looking, strange behaving, strange ...strange man...?

"Close the door" said Mr. Baek after a while of useless arguing as he did not want to get in a physical confrontation with such a strange man.

" Sir, is it necessary to close the door, we can just send the man away" said the watchman worriedly

"No, he is too strange to take any risks. Close the door. I will take the responsibility. " said Mr. Baek as he knew the watchman was worried about being held responsible.

Just as the door was about to be closed, several other people also came, stangely growling in a low voice, towards the school.

"Who are these people? Is this some kind of prank going on? You all better stop if this is some sick Joke." said the watchman as a wave of relief washed over him thinking it was right to close the door before all those people showed up. Mr. Baek also shouted a few words to them confirming this isn't some prank before turning to be watchman," This needs to be reported to the principal, luckily he is at the school today. I will go report this and make sure you don't open the door." The watchman nooded in understanding as Mr. Baek quickly went to report to the principal.

The classes had already stopped as several students clung to the window looking curiously at the commotion.

"Hey, could these people be the zombies shown in movies and now it's happening in real life?" laughed Ji hun, the popular kid in class.

"Haha, who knows maybe the next thing you know is that some superhores come with flashy powers and save the day." cheered the boys in excitement .

"Alright kids, go back to your seats don't be noisy." the history teacher, Mrs. Chu said sternly as everyone dispersed . The students chatted thinking about the possible reasons for the strange behaviour of those people.

'Zombies huh...' Shiér thought looking towards the schoolgate leisurely, a privilege of sitting near the window.

"Attention everyone! Stay in your classes and don't wander. Every student needs to be near a teacher at all times. A hostile group of people is outside the school and no one is allowed to go near them as they can hurt you. Teachers are requested to do a headcount and keep everyone together till the matter is settled." came the principal's voice as all the speakers in the school worked simultaneously.

"Isn't the principal overreacting for such a small matter. What can a few dozen people do to the entire school?" complained a few students to their friends.

The students chatted excitedly not the least bit worried about whatever was happening, just happy that they got an unexpected chance to gossip with their friends.
