Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: Fragments of Past

The ground trembled again as the dragon fully emerged, its massive form casting an impossible shadow over us. My mind struggled to comprehend what I was seeing. This wasn't just any creature—it was something out of legends, something so ancient and powerful that it seemed beyond our understanding. Fafnir's father, a creature of unimaginable strength, stood before us, and I had no idea what to expect next."What's going on?" Fafnir asked, his voice laced with worry as he stared at the massive dragon."I... I don't know!" I replied, just as confused. I could barely process what was happening. As the eight-headed dragon continued to rise from the ground, it turned its gaze to the demon standing before it. With a deep, resonant voice, it spoke: "I have endured for eons in torment. My flesh, blackened and tarnished with gold, rotted from within. The corpses of those who dared to cross me littered my path, their souls lost to my hunger. I have waited... for his return, for the day I would rise again. Hear me, Demon, for I am Ingi, the spear of Djinn. I am a harbinger of death, and defeat is a word that has never touched me. You will not survive this. You will feel true HORROR, as the very essence of despair consumes you."The moment those words left the dragon's mouth, an overwhelming and dreadful aura surged around it. The demon, standing in its shadow, felt a cold chill grip his heart. Fear overtook him as the crushing weight of the dragon's presence bore down. The demon's confidence faltered, and he quickly began to think of any way to escape, knowing that only one outcome awaited him: death. The demon stumbled backward, his mind racing. "FUCK! Why did this dragon just appear out of nowhere?!! This is insane!! I have to get out of here!! This aura... it must be connected to that human! A mere human is capable of doing this?!! DISGUSTING!!" the demon shouted, panic creeping into his voice. The eight-headed dragon tilted one of its massive heads toward the sky and uttered a single word: << Rakurai >>. The air around us crackled with energy as the dragon summoned the power of lightning from the heavens.*Rakurai: A word to summon a lightning strike, a devastating force of nature. The demon, realizing the incoming destructive energy, knew he had no way of escaping it alive. Desperately, he extended both arms, shouting, "<< Collapse >>! You leave me no choice—this is my last resort! Once I nullify the lightning, I'll escape with Spiritual Teleportation. Easy!"*Collapse: An ancient spell capable of nullifying a magicore, a technique unique to the Netherland.*Spiritual Teleportation: The user can teleport by transforming into a spiritual energy form, leaving behind their physical body to travel to a new location. This leaves their physical form destroyed. But even as the demon unleashed his spell, he realized his mistake. The electric charges were too powerful, the magicore too unmeasurable. His attempt to nullify it was in vain. With growing frustration, he glared at the dragon, muttering, "Shit! I didn't realize that there's someone strong enough to surpass my liege..."Fafnir, seeing the demon's impending demise, grabbed me and quickly flew underneath the dragon's massive form, shielding us from the wrath that was about to be unleashed.*Rumble... Rumble...With a booming cry of << Rakurai >>, the dragon summoned a bolt of lightning, a catastrophic strike that descended from the heavens. A lightning bolt consisting of over 500 million volts crashed down and obliterated the demon instantly, leaving nothing behind but a raging firestorm and clouds of ash."You have won for now," the demon's voice echoed in the air, "but you will never escape us... especially from my liege. He is one of your kin... and he will surely murder you..."And then, the demon's final words faded into nothing.Unbeknownst to us, the destructive force of the lightning strike reverberated across the entire land of Norkiya, sending shockwaves of magical energy through the air. The entire realm felt it, and creatures of myth and legend took notice.Inside the Guild of Asnor:*Murmuring filled the air.A random adventurer stood up, his face serious. "Did you feel that, everyone?!" he asked, his voice carrying urgency."Yeah! What was that just now?" another adventurer responded, eyes wide with disbelief. The Guild Receptionist quickly stood up, trying to restore order. "Everyone, please calm down! Our Guild Master will arrive shortly and explain the situation, so please just remain calm!""That... that wasn't just any magicore," one adventurer muttered, his voice trembling. "That was... something out of this world!""Ho? Interesting," another voice responded, intrigued."Did you feel that too, Jimmy?" someone asked."Yeah. Whatever it is, it's dangerous. We need to find it and eliminate it—ASAP," Jimmy replied with a grim tone.Somewhere in the Marsh Land:The world trembled once more, and the sky cracked open. The ground shook violently, and the air itself seemed to crackle with power."Keep our Majesty safe! NOW!" a creature shouted, its voice full of alarm."Your Highness, over here!" another creature demanded urgently.A massive crowd had gathered in a large room, all preparing for something, weapons in hand."Commander, what's your order?" one of the creatures asked."None. Just wait," the commander replied, his voice steady but uncertain."But Commander! Our Majesty could be in danger if this continues!" the creature protested."Relax," the commander said, calming them down. "If we were really under attack, they wouldn't be revealing their aura like this. Doesn't that seem off?""Ah... Yeah," the creature murmured, realization dawning."Now, now, everyone. Let's calm down. We are not under attack," a confident voice called out, trying to ease the growing tension."But we're not safe either," another voice chimed in. "I just found out that there's someone stronger than me."The crowd murmured in agreement, a mix of excitement and fear filling the air.Somewhere in Westeros:An elf's voice broke through the quiet, anxious. "A catastrophic event has been set in motion, my liege. This is bad."The Queen of Elves nodded gravely. "Yes, my child, but we must face it and eliminate it."A giant, filled with excitement, cheered. "Ho! A strong aura means a strong opponent! Kuahahaha! This is going to be good!"A dwarf chimed in, eager. "If that's the case, let me craft you a weapon—RIGHT NOW!"Somewhere in the Netherlands:An Upper Demon gritted its teeth in anger. "One of our kind has been annihilated. This is bad news!"A Lower Demon cried out, despair in its voice. "We're done for!"An Advanced Demon clicked its tongue, frustration visible. "Tsk. This is bad."A Special-Class Demon stepped forward, its voice calm but confident. "Chill, everyone. I know we lost one of our kin, but don't worry. Our Master has a plan."Another Special-Class Demon smirked. "For crying out loud! This is exactly why Special-Class Demons are stronger than the rest of you! I'll find and kill that human. Kuhahaha!"Back at the present event:Fafnir trembled as he looked at the dragon in front of them, still shaking with recognition and disbelief. After a brief exchange between Fafnir and me about the dragon's overwhelming power, Fafnir's nerves got the better of him. He suddenly ran forward, stopping just before the colossal creature."Father! Are you... my father?" Fafnir asked, his voice filled with uncertainty. The eight-headed dragon paused, sensing something familiar in the air. Its many eyes narrowed, and a soft rumble vibrated through the earth.*Magicore Aura: A powerful aura that surrounds the user, enhancing their magical abilities depending on the type of magic they wield. The dragon, its senses heightened, finally recognized the presence of the magicore surrounding Fafnir."F-fr-aen-err?" the dragon stammered, its voice faltering for the first time. "Ar-ree... yo-uyo... Fr-aen-err?"
