Chapter 9 - Chapter9 :Killer Bob

The library, once a sanctuary of knowledge, had now become a temporary refuge for Jack and his companions. The dim light from the flickering lamps barely illuminated the room, casting eerie shadows that danced on the walls. The air was thick with the scent of old books, mingled with an undercurrent of tension and uncertainty. With no immediate plans, their days had turned into a monotonous cycle of eating and drinking, trying to conserve the dwindling supplies. The presence of two girls, Lily and May, made them more cautious, opting to wait quietly for rescue. However, the reality of their situation was becoming more pressing with each passing day. The food was running dangerously low, with only enough to last for two more days."Is anyone there? Is anyone there?" The radio crackled to life, the voice on the other end filled with desperation. "I'm in room 12 on the 121st street. Is anyone coming to rescue me? My name is Bob."Jack's heart skipped a beat. He quickly grabbed the radio, his fingers trembling with a mix of hope and anxiety. "Yes, yes, we're here. How's the situation over there?" he asked urgently, desperate to know what was happening outside, especially beyond the school grounds."The entire building is sealed off. I've checked every floor, and everyone's dead. Not a single person left," Bob's voice came through, laced with a chilling calm."You mean everyone in your building has been infected and died?" Jack's voice wavered, the implications of Bob's words sinking in. If it was an airborne virus, the situation was far more terrifying than he had imagined. There would be no way to defend against it."No, no, it's not like that," Bob quickly clarified. "What I mean is, everyone here was infected. I went floor by floor, checking each person. Since they were all infected, I had to kill them to prevent further spread."A silence fell over the group as they processed Bob's words. The realization that they were speaking to a potential psychopath sent a shiver down their spines."Don't get me wrong, I mean, everyone here was infected. I had to eliminate them to stop the virus from spreading," Bob continued, his voice tinged with desperation."Bro, honestly, you're scarier than the virus itself," Tom muttered from the back, his voice dripping with sarcasm."Hey, man, if you're that strong, do you even need us to rescue you? Shouldn't you be the one rescuing us?" Jack questioned, his mind racing with possibilities."It's like this. The building's management sealed off the main entrance, and they piled up a bunch of rocks outside. I'm trapped in here, like a caged animal," Bob explained, his frustration evident. The group exchanged glances. With their supplies running low and the need for a strong ally growing, they couldn't ignore the potential benefits of having someone like Bob on their side. Despite his unsettling nature, he could be a powerful asset in this apocalyptic world."We'll come for you today. Make sure you're ready to provide support. I'm afraid the zombie horde might ambush us," Jack said, his voice firm and resolute.Bob quickly thanked them, promising to keep an eye on the outside movements. With the communication over, Jack and the others began to prepare for their journey."I have to say, this guy is really something," Lily remarked, her voice filled with a mix of admiration and apprehension."I see him as a much stronger ally. Based on the radio messages we've been getting, the world out there has changed drastically. We might not just be facing zombie attacks, but entire zombie armies and even zombie superhumans," Jack added, his mind already racing with the possibilities."What if we just became zombies? Wouldn't that solve all our problems?" May joked, trying to lighten the mood."You know what? You're right. If we were dead, we wouldn't have to worry about anything," Lily replied with a chuckle.Tom playfully tapped May on the head. "You have to stay alive. I'll do everything I can to keep you safe," he said, his voice soft but determined.Jack and Lily exchanged a glance, the unspoken tension in the air palpable. It was clear that the dynamics between them were shifting, and the future held more than just the threat of zombies.
