Chereads / lost in lust / Chapter 6 - 6

Chapter 6 - 6

Days passed, but the boundaries they tried to erect between themselves crumbled whenever they were forced to interact. The strain of denying their connection only seemed to fan the flames that consumed them. Each stolen glance, each accidental touch, felt like a spark igniting an inferno they could no longer contain.

It was a Friday evening when they crossed the line again.n

The monastery's library was a place of quiet solitude, its towering shelves filled with ancient texts and illuminated manuscripts. Elena often sought refuge there in the evenings, finding solace in the scent of aged paper and the soft glow of candlelight.

But tonight, solace eluded her. Gabriel entered just as she was shelving a book, his sudden presence sending a jolt through her.

"Forgive me," he said, his voice low. "I didn't know you were here."

Elena turned, clutching the book to her chest as if it could shield her from the storm brewing inside her. "It's fine, Father Gabriel. I was just finishing up."

He hesitated, his dark eyes scanning her face. "You've been avoiding me."

Her breath hitched. "I thought that's what you wanted."

Gabriel stepped closer, the shadows of the library cloaking him like a shroud. "What I want and what I should do are not the same.

Elena's heart pounded as he closed the distance between them, his towering presence both a comfort and a torment. "Then why are you here?" she asked, her voice trembling.

"Because I can't stay away," he admitted, his voice raw. "No matter how hard I try, you're always there. In my thoughts. In my prayers. Everywhere."

The book slipped from her hands, thudding softly against the floor. "Gabriel..."

Her name on his lips was all it took for her resolve to shatter. He reached for her, his hands trembling as they cupped her face.

Their lips met in a kiss that was both desperate and tender, a collision of guilt and longing that left them breathless.

"Elena," he murmured against her lips, his hands tangling in her hair. "We can't..."

"Then why does it feel like we have to?" she whispered, pulling him closer.

Their movements became frantic, their hands exploring with a hunger that defied reason. Gabriel pressed her against the shelf, his lips trailing down her neck as her fingers tugged at his collar. The sacred vows that once bound them seemed distant now, their only reality the heat of each other's touch.

"I've tried to fight this," he said, his voice ragged as he lifted her onto the edge of the desk. "I've prayed for strength, for clarity, but all I want is you.

"Then stop fighting," she said, her fingers threading through his hair. "Just for tonight."

And for that moment, they surrendered to the fire between them, their passion igniting in the quiet confines of the library.

The Morning After

The dawn brought with it a crushing wave of guilt. Gabriel awoke before the morning bells, his body still aching from the night before. Elena lay beside him on the desk, her hair fanned out like a halo, her face serene in sleep.

He rose carefully, his movements slow and deliberate as he straightened his cassock. His heart felt heavy, his mind clouded with the knowledge of what they had done.

Elena stirred, her eyes fluttering open to find him watching her.

"We shouldn't have..." he began, but she cut him off with a gentle touch to his arm.

"Don't," she said softly, her voice tinged with sadness. "I know."

They dressed in silence, the weight of their actions pressing down on them like a physical force.

As they parted ways, their gazes lingered, unspoken words passing between them. They knew the risk, the danger of their connection, but the pull between them was undeniable.

And as they stepped back into the light of day, they couldn't help but wonder how long they could continue to pretend, to hide, to resist the fire that threatened to consume them both.
