The day went by in a blur. My nerves ate at my insides for most of the day. Trey and Atlas were so excited. I wanted to be confident in myself but over the past few weeks Oliva had me questioning myself more and more.
" I am thinking of asking to move dorms." I finally said as we walked to the duel grounds.
" What do you mean?" Atlas asked
" I don't know man, the way that Olivia works just makes me feel less." I replied
" Dude, don't worry about it. You got this. All you have to do is rank first during the first exam in a few weeks." Trey said.
" Based on what I heard you won't have to worry about her for long." Atlas said
" What do you plan on doing?" I asked
" It's not me." He said defensively. " I overheard Olivia talking to Brenda about what her final argument is going to be."
" She is already thinking about that?" Trey asked
The more I hear about her the more I hate her.
" She wants to bridge the gap between us and the non magic world." Atlas said
Stopping in my tracks I said " She wants to do what?"
" She claims that we should help the non-magical people who aren't as privileged as us. "
" Damn." Trey said " She really ain't one of us. Anyone who is anyone knows that we are superior to anyone who is not a Witch or Warlock."
Hearing all of this made me feel a lot better. I will stay in my room and watch her world crumble down. As a Warlock it is my duty to remind people why we are at the top of the food chain. The stadium was packed with students cheering loudly. As we were guided to a waiting room we were given a list of the rules. For the most part there were no rules. The main was there are no outside weapons, all weapons must be made in the ring. All magic and Shift powers are allowed.
Stepping onto the field as my name was called felt surreal. My first official fight was against a girl. I wished that I had told the others to go easy on them. Olivia stepped on the field and every breath in my body left. She looked amazing in her skin tight leggings and a black sports bra. Her hair was tied in several braids flowing out like a whip.
"I am so jealous." Atlas said " I have to know how she got her abs to look that good."
Shaking my head of the thoughts that I was having, I focused on the fight. Mr. Henderson looked each of us in the eye and gave a nod. After we gave him a nod in return he signaled the match start. The girls took no time in attacking. Brenda took down Trey before I could blink. As Brenda rounded on me I drew the light symbol and threw it at her.
" Switch with me." Olivia yelled at Brenda
Brenda nodded and headed towards Atlas. I wasn't worried because Trey was standing back up.
Olivia's fist connected to my jaw before I could react. Pain bounced around my head. I used Air to shove her back. As she moved back she kicked out her leg almost hitting my jaw again. She used Earth to shift the ground beneath me. Quickly I shot a fireball at her. She pulled back. I use the moment to come in with an uppercut. The Worst mistake in my life.
She swung on me like a wild dog. There was no rhyme or reason to it any more. Being in a tough spot I did the only thing I could. I shifted.
It was one of the worst feelings in the world. Each bone snapped as a human skeleton turned into a horse shaped skeleton. But man being a unicorn was the best.
The whistle blew right after my hoof collided with Olivia's temple. I looked up and saw that Brenda was a white flag.
AS I stepped away Brenda started to talk to Olivia. I could hear her telling her that it was going to be fine. Walking into the waiting room I turned back and asked " What happened?"
" I am not sure man. I was getting my ass kicked by Brenda then all of a sudden She started to yell at Olivia and then waved the flag. It had something to do with the fire you threw." Atlas said
"We need to figure it out." Trey said " They were kicking our ass."
" Let me talk to dad and see what he says." Atlas said
" What are you going to tell him?" I asked, " you know that he won't be happy about the fight."
" We did win." Trey pointed out.
Atlas shook his head and head off to call his dad I assumed. Trey wandered off exploring or finding shiny objects. Mr. Henderson walked into the room and said " congratulations on the win. I need you to sign this form stating that the five of you are satisfied with the outcome and you will not fight over this matter for at least three months."
" Honestly I don't know what we were fighting over. It all just kind of happened."
" I put it down as a different option on powers. Will you have Mr. Anderson and MR Lightwood come and sign this when they get the chance."
Since I have my magic I decided to head to Lydia's Wands and Bobs to scope out what I wanted to use as a spell casting focus. I loved watching dad use magic. The way that his wand moved through the air forming the signs. The shop was located off the side of the main road squished between a small dinner and a clothing shop. Along one of the walls was a lot of staff. There were several that looked pretty cool. I imagined myself with one of them and it felt okay. Then I saw what I wanted right under the cash register in the display case was exactly what I wanted. It looked exactly like my horn. As I was about to call for someone, two people entered from the side of the shop. One was a man with white hair and green eyes. He had scars running down one side of his face. The other was a woman with long blue hair and blue eyes. They were in deep conversation in a language that I did not know.
When the woman's eye met mine she said " Oh I'm sorry I did not realize I had a customer. How may I help you young man?'
" I am wanting to pre order my wand."
The older man said " Is it already time for that?'
" We will be getting our grimoire at the end of the month. I just had the time so I wanted to be ahead." I replied " You look familiar, do I know you from somewhere?"
"My daughters are enrolled at Vycreek."
The woman turned to him and asked " When did you have another and why did you not tell me Erin."
The man Erin backed away and said " I adopted Olivia when she was ten. I promise you Lydia I would have told you if I had another kid. "
" Olivia is adopted?" I asked " What happened to her dad?"
" you will have to ask her." Erin said " She can seem snobby or rude sometimes but she is a good kid. She will tell you if she trusts you."
He told Lydia that he had something to take care of and left. I paid for the wand and she told me that i can get it when I get my grimoire. I rushed to find Atlas to tell him what I found out.
