But soon, an inexplicable rift split it apart—Hope fractured into two opposing forces: Hope and Despair.

Hope continued to grant dreams, breathing life into the wishes of those who never stopped believing. But Despair… Despair fed upon the broken, those who had abandoned all faith. It grew, festered, and soon, it transcended into something far worse. Day after day, it gathered strength, manifesting into the embodiment of ruin—The Seven Deadly Sins. With their corruption, humans twisted into monstrous beings known as Zetsubo, lost forever in the abyss of suffering.

To restore balance, Hope took its final stand. It forged celestial guardians—twelve… no, thirteen—beasts of divine power, each embodying a star of the Zodiac. One by one, they would awaken, choosing their destined hosts, merging with them to bestow the might of the Zodiac.
