Chapter 5: Brother, Do You Mind If I Copy Your Homework?
The next morning, Cao Chenghui arrived at the internet café early again, just like the day before. As expected, Fang Hong showed up on time as well. The two of them had exchanged contact information the day before, but Cao Chenghui refrained from messaging immediately. He didn't want to disturb him or risk annoying the boss. It felt safer to wait until they were more familiar before continuing their conversations.
As expected, around 8:40 AM, Fang Hong arrived punctually and took his usual seat in the quiet corner of the café, where they could talk without disturbances. The two greeted each other when they met.
Fang Hong sat down and booted up his computer. Cao Chenghui, eager to chat, immediately began: "Brother, I'm really impressed. Shuyuan Technology hit the daily limit again during the late session yesterday. I used to think that the concept of a 'stock god' was nonsense, but now I believe it—I'm convinced that the stock god is right here beside me."
Fang Hong smiled slightly at the comment but didn't immediately respond. He subtly scanned the room, seemingly checking something, though he didn't say anything. Cao Chenghui noticed this gesture and quickly realized his voice might have been too loud. The last thing he wanted was to attract attention.
Lowering his voice, Cao Chenghui continued his conversation. He realized that Fang Hong was no naive student. The older man had a presence that made it clear he was experienced. Fang Hong acknowledged this by lowering his voice, signaling that he understood the situation.
Fang Hong had deliberately checked the surroundings to avoid drawing attention. He didn't want anyone to overhear their conversation, especially in an internet café, where it could quickly attract the wrong kind of attention—like loan sharks. If they found out he was good at stock trading, they might force him into a position where he had to make money for them. This would definitely be an issue, and it could complicate his situation.
The stock market was a place where human nature played a huge role. Fang Hong was fully aware of that—never test people's nature, or it could lead to disastrous consequences.
By this point, Fang Hong had no intention of showing off his skills to Cao Chenghui, but given the limited opportunities for making money quickly, he had to make use of every method available, including leveraging his abilities in stock trading.
---
At 9:25, the results of the pre-market auction came in. Shuyuan Technology opened with a +2.12% increase. The stock continued to rise steadily after the market opened, without showing any signs of reversing. Fang Hong was patiently waiting for the right moment to sell. He was also keeping an eye on a few other stocks he had selected earlier, which he was optimistic about.
Around 9:49, Fang Hong made his move. With a single click, he sold off his Shuyuan Technology shares, which had reached 6.65 yuan per share, marking an increase of +8.66%. The total value of his sale amounted to 2.11 million yuan in just one minute. Given that his capital wasn't large enough to significantly affect market trends, his actions didn't cause any pressure on the stock price.
"Brother, why did you sell before it hit the daily limit?" Cao Chenghui asked, a little puzzled.
Fang Hong explained, "The stock's performance during the early trading session was too strong, and the price shot up without any consolidation. It followed an almost vertical trajectory. I expected the price to hit the daily limit, but I didn't want to risk waiting too long. The profit margin was already too generous."
As soon as Fang Hong sold his shares, the price of Shuyuan Technology began to drop, and its momentum slowed considerably.
"Absolutely right!" Cao Chenghui exclaimed, slapping the table in excitement. He couldn't believe that Fang Hong had sold almost at the highest point of the day. The boss's ability to execute short-term trades with such precision left him in awe. He had been observing Fang Hong's trades for days, and it was clear that the boss was a master of the market—his moves were sharp, calculated, and effective.
Cao Chenghui's excitement reached a peak. He was now eagerly waiting for the next opportunity to "copy homework" and get in on the action. He was sure that following the boss's lead would make him rich.
---
By 11:25 AM, just before the market's morning session ended, Fang Hong made another move. He bought 400 shares of Quancang Stud Dinghai Seed Industry (002041) on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange at a price of 24.43 yuan per share, which was down by -0.77% at the time.
Without hesitation, Cao Chenghui quickly entered his order to buy the same stock. His excitement was palpable as he clicked through his purchase. He had no doubts now—getting rich was right in front of him, and this was the opportunity to take action.
"How much did you buy?" Fang Hong asked casually.
"100,000 yuan. I just took a shot—honestly, it's thrilling!" Cao Chenghui replied, trying to hide his excitement. "To tell you the truth, my account only had a bit over 20,000 yuan before. I took everything my family had saved over the years, without telling my wife. I even used money that was meant for my children's tuition."
Fang Hong paused for a moment after hearing this. He hadn't expected this level of risk from Cao Chenghui. However, he responded coolly, "Well, then you're wealthy."
Cao Chenghui laughed nervously. "We'll get rich together, we'll get rich together, haha!"
The phrase "people don't get rich without windfalls" echoed in his mind. He had already decided to follow Fang Hong no matter what. The boss's actions were daring yet stable, and that was the kind of approach that led to success. He was all in, ready to seize the opportunity.
After making the purchase, Cao Chenghui had nothing left to do but wait and watch the market.
Fang Hong, on the other hand, decided it was time to leave the internet café. It was already 11:30, and lunch time was approaching. Cao Chenghui considered asking Fang Hong to join him for a meal, but he decided against it. He felt it would be better to wait until tomorrow when they had made more money together—it would feel more appropriate to treat the boss then.
---
As soon as Fang Hong left, Cao Chenghui stayed in the café to monitor the market. Just then, he noticed a new announcement about Dinghai Seeds. The company had revised its first-half performance forecast, and trading would be suspended for an hour in the afternoon, resuming at 14:00.
"No way. Could it really be like this?" Cao Chenghui thought, his head spinning. He had already risked his family's savings on this stock, and now there was uncertainty about its future. His hands trembled as he hesitated to click on the announcement, dreading what he might find. He couldn't bear to check the news.
For a moment, he felt like he was in an ice cave, the excitement of getting rich from the morning quickly evaporating into fear. If the stock price kept plummeting, he knew his marriage might be at risk, and the situation could become unmanageable.
"Don't panic, don't panic. There's a boss here. As long as I stick with him, even if I lose this time, I can make it back. Right, right? Don't panic," he muttered to himself.
In a moment of panic, he decided to reach out to Fang Hong for advice. He quickly opened QQ, found Fang Hong's contact, and began typing a message. He needed the boss's guidance to calm down.
