The atmosphere was silent, and everyone looked at the drama unfolding right before their faces. Most of the male students watched. "This is the part where Ethan would be humiliated again." One fatty boy said with a wide grin on his face.
Carter stood still with Sophia, looking at the unfolding drama right before their faces.
Ethan gazes up to see who it was, and it was Elena. "Shall we?" She said it with her hands stretched out. "Is this a joke?" Ethan said, slowly getting up to his feet. "Does it look like I am joking?" Elena asked, taking a quick glance at Ethan's face. "You still owe me an explanation for all this. You are going to tell me why you want Carter to be taken down. From what I heard, you both are friends."
"Not anymore." Ethan replied.
The whole student stood in awe as they all looked at the latest couple in the school. "So, what are you offering, and are there any plans to take him down?" Sophia asked as she walked hand in hand with Ethan. "None for now, but can you start with helping me humiliate him?" Ethan said, looking at her in the face.
Most of the students now have their phones out as they took pictures of the hottest couple in the school. "Is that all?" Elena asked with a smile on her face.
Ethan nodded. He knew the system had asked Carter to be humiliated, but it wasn't specific that he needed to do the job. They walked to the podium with a lot of cheers and clapping, making Carter frustrated.
He had wanted Ethan to be disgraced and ridiculed, but here he was, his name being chanted and hands in the air for him. "Can we all settle down, please, and listen to the main reason why we are all gathered here?" Carter said with a cold voice.
The noise was quiet, with a lot of students ready for the charity to begin.
Carter's eyes narrowed as he gazed at Ethan and Elena, his mind racing with resentment. How had Ethan managed to turn the tables so swiftly? The charity auction, meant to solidify Carter's status, was now on the verge of being hijacked.
"Welcome, everyone, to the annual charity auction." A loud voice said, his voice strained. "Tonight, we gather to support a noble cause and bid on exclusive items. Let's begin with our first item, a rare art piece donated by a renowned artist."
As the man announced the starting bid, Ethan and Elena made their way to the front row, their hands still clasped together. The audience's attention remained fixed on the unlikely couple, whispers and murmurs circulating about their sudden alliance.
Sophia, standing beside Carter, shot Ethan a hot glance. Her eyes seemed to bore into his soul, but Ethan remained unfazed, his gaze locked on Carter.
The bidding began, with several students and faculty members participating. Ethan and Elena remained silent, their eyes fixed on Carter, who was growing increasingly agitated.
Suddenly, Elena raised her hand, bidding on a luxurious vacation package. Carter's eyes widened as the bid skyrocketed, and Ethan's gaze faltered. He knew he didn't have the money to bid or pay for what Elena was taking on. It would be a great disaster if he was asked to pay and he couldn't.
"I think it's time we spice things up," Carter whispered to Sophia, his voice barely audible over the bidding frenzy.
Sophia's eyes sparkled with understanding. "Let's do it," she whispered back.
With a mischievous grin, Carter stood up, her voice ringing out across the hall. "I challenge Ethan to a bidding war. If I win, he must donate double the amount to the charity."
The auctioneer laughed. He could feel the tension in the room, and he knew Carter wanted to prove a point.
"I can see we have some strong bidders in the room. Can we please invite Mr. Carter and Mr. Ethan out!."
The atmosphere erupted into a frenzy mode with a lot of students shouting and chanting Carter's name. Sophia grinned and held onto Carter's hand. Ethan looked at her and could not believe she was the same woman he had loved all his life. Ethan has tried to know what Carter was hiding, but he couldn't find anything on him.
"You got this right?" Elena looked at her face. "You have shown the school you have what it takes to win this auction, so prove to them once and for all that you are not some broke ass student." Elena said, trying to encourage him. Ethan gave a weak smile and nodded.
The room erupted into cheers and applause, Ethan's face turning pale. Beaded sweat began to form on his head. Carter's plan was unfolding perfectly, and Ethan was about to face a humiliation he never could recover from.
Most of the students began to whisper among themselves. "Do you think Ethan can best Carter? We both know Carter is richer than him." One of the students replied to his friend.
"But Ethan had promised to take on the auction. Do you think he doesn't have any backup plans for that?" He replied, poking his nose. "Why don't we watch? The drama is happening right before our eyes."
All the students paid attention to the unfolding drama before the two friends.
"Now to the auction of all time. We are going to bring out a rare antique that was bought in Korea. It is the lost hidden crown of the first king that was later found. The highest bidder gets the crown." The auctioneer said with a wide grin as he shouted into the microphone that he was holding.
Ethan's face went pale. "An antique? What the hell is that?" He thought to himself. He felt his pocket warm again, and the orb glowed with an ethereal light. Ethan felt scared. Is this the part the orb told him he had outdone himself?
He knew the time frame he was given was slowly ending. But to his surprise, another message popped right in his face.
