Chapter 1 The World After the Catastrophe
In the depths of the dark universe, a brilliant light broke through the silence, like a god descending, illuminating the silent starry sky. The God of the Universe traveled through the stars and descended to Earth. His body was as huge as the sun, but when he approached the earth, his body gradually shrank and turned into a tall and strong man wearing a dark red cloak, with deep eyes, containing endless wisdom and compassion.
Gray dust filled the air, covering the sky, and the sun's brilliance was blocked by thick radioactive clouds. The whole world seemed to fall into endless darkness. The ruined city stood in the wilderness, and the remains of reinforced concrete told the horror of a world-destroying catastrophe. Among the ruins, the remaining high-rise buildings were burned black by the raging fire, and vehicles were overturned on the streets, with bones scattered in between, and the air was filled with the smell of charcoal and death.
The God of the Universe landed gently, his boots stepping on the cracked ground. The breeze blew, bringing up a wisp of sand with radioactive dust. He walked slowly forward, with a heavy sadness in his eyes.
This land, once the pride of human civilization, is now only dead silence and wreckage. His eyes penetrated the layers of smoke and dust, and saw the traces of nuclear explosions all over the world. The once prosperous cities are now only radioactive ruins. There is no sign of life on the charred land. The ocean is evaporated by the intense temperature. Some of the sea water has dried up, revealing deep cracks in the seabed. In the Pacific Ocean, the huge mushroom cloud formed by the nuclear explosion is still slowly dissipating, and the remaining high temperature distorts the atmosphere, as if the world is still gasping in pain.
He closed his eyes and sensed the life signal of this world. The weak life fluctuation came from deep underground. He opened his eyes instantly, and his figure turned into a ray of light, rushing towards the source of the signal. He passed through the desert-like ruins, passed by collapsed cities, and finally came to a shelter hidden underground.
The entrance to the shelter was buried by thick rocks. If it weren't for his extraordinary perception, it would not be found at all. He stretched out his palm and gently squeezed it. The boulder turned into dust, revealing a narrow passage. Deep in the passage, the faint light flickered, and the air was filled with the smell of corruption and dampness. He stepped in, and his footsteps echoed in the empty tunnel.
After crossing a long corridor, he came to the core area of the shelter. The shabby metal door was half open and half closed, and the light inside was swaying. Clark walked in slowly and found that the room was full of dried food residues, and several corpses in tattered clothes fell in the corner, already decayed. His eyes fell on the corner of the room, where a thin figure curled up and trembled weakly.
It was a little girl about seven or eight years old. Her clothes were tattered, her face was covered with dust, her thin fingers were tightly holding her knees, and her whole body was trembling. It was obvious that she had not eaten for a long time. She heard the footsteps and raised her head suddenly. A pair of clear blue eyes flashed with a light of fear and hope.
"Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you."
The little girl's body was still trembling, her eyes were full of vigilance, but when she looked carefully into the eyes of the God of the Universe, she seemed to feel warmth from the deep gaze. She opened her mouth, her voice hoarse and weak: "You... who are you?"
He stretched out his hand and gathered a small amount of energy in his palm, forming a warm ball of light. The light was not dazzling, but it brought a reassuring power. He gently pushed the ball of light towards the little girl, illuminating a small space in front of her, dispelling the shadows and coldness.
The little girl's eyes gradually softened, and finally, she hesitated, stretched out her hand, and carefully touched the ball of light. At that moment, warm energy flowed into her body, her face slightly regained some color, and her trembling body gradually stabilized.
"My name is Alice..." Her voice was still very light, but she had a little more strength than before.
"Alice, can you tell me what happened here?"
Alice's eyes dimmed, she lowered her head, her voice weak but clear: "A few months ago, the world was still normal... But suddenly, countries began to attack each other frantically, and all the TVs and radios were full of war news. We originally lived in a big city, but suddenly, the sky lit up, everyone was screaming, and then... Then everything turned into flames and darkness."
Her eyes were full of painful memories, and her voice trembled slightly: "Mom and Dad took me here to escape. They said it was safe here, but... They are all dead..." Tears flashed in her eyes, and she bit her lips tightly to prevent herself from crying.
The God of the Universe became deep, he had guessed everything.
The destruction of the world is not a simple human war, but there is a deeper conspiracy behind it. Governments of various countries are controlled by evil spirits and launch nuclear bombs against each other, which eventually led to the collapse of human civilization. And he, who should have stopped all this, failed to arrive in time due to the limitations of traveling through time and space.
He gently stroked Alice's hair and said softly: "Don't be afraid, everything will be fine."
Alice raised her head and looked at Clark with a glimmer of hope in her eyes: "Really?"
The God of the Universe nodded firmly: "Since I am here, this world has not really ended yet."
