Chapter 1 - 1) Salmon Steak and Mop Water

"The Sun rose at 5:42 am sharp as it often did. The sun made it's usual rounds, following the equator however 12,000 years ago from the modern age, the Sun stopped it's journey just at the horizon of the Antiac circle" The professor said in a monotonous tone.

The students were fully focused, as if these teachings were the most important thing to them. However, if one looked closely they would see that they were paying little attention to the class but more to the clock that continued ticking. In the middle of the class, a girl with hazel-coloured eyes and auburn hair that had platinum highlights was sweating nervously with her fidgeting in her chair and her eyes becoming dilated whenever she heard a distinctive 'tick'. At the back, a boy with blonde hair and green eyes was twitching in anticipation, paying the clock his full attention. Even the professor would pause to look at the clock as he halted his Cosmic History class.

As the students continued paying no mind to their teachings, a boy with dark hair that reached his ears and had brown eyes that were deep with knowledge was reading through a textbook that was titled, "The Underlying Soul" written by a Professor Gambridge. As the students stood in great anticipation and ran to the door as the bell tolled, they tripped over their robes running to door.

"Don't forget to research on the Sun's path for the upcoming examination!!"

As all the students left so quick that many had left their stationary and text books the professor sighed.

"What is one to do with such anxious youth, Aurelius?"

The dark haired boy just smiled and chuckled as he put his textbooks into a large bag that was filled to the brim with research papers, textbooks and anecdotes from researchers. He was bronze-skinned with an average build. His face wasn't extraordinary and would be considered instead as extra-ordinary. The professor saw the large amount of research items, some that were advanced even for him.

"Seems like you've got quite a night of study ahead" The professor chuckled until he sighed, "If only the other students were as diligent as you were, then perhaps they could become scholars in the city" The professor said with a solemn expression.

The boy called Aurelius heard this as he joined in the clean-up and chuckled out, "Please, no need for comparisons Professor, even if i work hard who knows if I'll ever have a chance to even enter the city. Though deep inside, Aurelius was greatly pleased.

"Trust me Aurelius, with your passion for knowledge and that great ambition of yours, there's no doubt you'll become a scholar in the city" The professor said cheerfully with a earnest smile.

As they tidied up the class, the school soon became deserted with only a few disheartened students who were in detention remaining behind. Sounds of music reached into the school with great volume and shouts of glee could be heard. The professor and Aurelius heard this. The professor looked at Aurelius with a smile and said

"Go on Aurelius! Head to the Fish Egg festival, it most likely heating up right now."

Aurelius was taken aback by these sudden words. "But the clean up is still quite much professor and i don't truly enjoy the festival all i enjoy is -"

"You're still young Aurelius, there's time for everything, experiences can shape the soul too y'know!" The professor said with a wink. "Plus I heard the newest edition of Suns and Brothels has come out" the professor said with a wink.

"Professor, It's you who reads that remember?"

"Sometimes, reading a story of love and steamy action can lead to greater knowledge than that of academic journals" The professor said with gusto but deep inside he knew this was just a fib to save his image"

"Alright Professor, whatever you say" Aurelius said as he rolled is eyes and packed up his bag. "See you soon, professor!"

"Same to you!". As Aurelius walked off, the professor smiled a toothy smile until he looked at the dirty footprints that littered his classroom.

With a sigh, he picked up a mop. "Another late-night cleaning, away from my delicious salmon steak" he said with tears falling into the water bucket.
