The earth was shaken to the core by the continuous sightings of monsters that defied nature, laws and the standard of beauty, they were fucking ugly and horrific, they didn't even look like animals, they were disgusting, like something straight out of your nightmare, any human would want to pluck his eyeballs out after seeing them, but they became normal sightings.
It all started on a normal morning, they were first sighted in Capetown South Africa, then in New Delhi India, then in Morocco, then every country in the world, Monsters both big and small, large, lean, flying, crawling , running, walking, greatly terrifying, less terrifying, the whole world was in shambles, no one knew where they came from or how they came but they were enough to reduce the world population from eight billion to 6 billion, billions of people were slaughtered, killed under the span of a month, it was hell, a struggle, an apocalypse.
"It's just like those zombie movies huh?"
Dustin said as he tied his ankles with bandages, he had slightly shifted his ankle bone from running through all the debris in the city with Jonas to find food.
The whole city was in shambles, destroyed, not functioning, chaotic, in order to find food, they had to pass through flocks of monsters, they was a particular group of monsters that hung around in groups near the closest shopping mall to their hideout, they were green, short and ugly, they were at least four foot but very agile and just one of them was as powerful as a grown man , they had to fight against groups of them just to get food every three days and had just finished their desperate struggle to secure food and had reached their underground hideout in the subway stations.
"But with different monsters instead" Dustin chuckled as he looked at Jonas lying down on the dirty and wet floor trying to rest.
"Those goblins are something else yeah?" Dustin asked Jonas hoping to get a reply
"You have an odd way of naming things Dus" Jonas called him Dus, it was a kind off nickname he had made for Dustin and liked calling him that because it sounded like dust, in fact he either called him dus or dusty, because he was always dirty.
"It just fits their description you know, 'goblins' the name rolls out of the tongue smoothly, like the name was meant to be?" Dustin replied with a mischievous smile on his face.
"Yeah well, I wish you could fight as well as you name things" Jonas replied and Dustin looked at him with a smile on his face hiding the fact that he got stabbed right to the heart just from his words
"why would I fight? I have a superhuman tank as a best friend" he laughed as he said this to Jonas
"I guess you are right." Jonas laughed softly as he enjoyed being complimened
'smug bastard, I wish you could pass out again so I'd slap you more' it was annoying for Dustin now that Jonas had these powers, he can't do shit to him.
"But Jon?" Dustin brought out the bag of food they had just acquired and poured it out on the ground close to Jonas and sat close to him to for them to each choose their rations
"what is it kid?" Jonas answered Dustin with an annoyed tone, he just wanted to eat.
"Kid? We're both seventeen, I'll just let you have this one, I'm in as good mood, do you think there are more people like you?"
Dustin said as he grabbed some of the food over to himself and brought out a small plastic bag from his pocket to put it in
"you know. People with powers" he asked Jonas.
"People with powers? There might be, no they are definitely out there " Jonas replied to Dustin as he sat up to take his own ration of food and eat a little, he took some bread and ate it.
"ever since my senses got heightened, I could feel this strange force in the air, something other than oxygen and carbon dioxide and the usual gases is up there and some of it are stick to people's body, that's how I know" he chewed his bread and finished it and said
"I could feel this strange force in my own body as well, my veins and arteries, it's mixing with my blood, no, it has become my blood, my heightened senses and my whole body can feel it, I can control all my body cells at will now, it's really scary " he sighed heavily
"let's leave all the boring stuff to later" he lied down on the floor to sleep.
"How the hell is this even boring stuff? It's important stuff, and you've never told me how you got those powers!!" Dustin yelled
"Oi!! I've told you countless fucking times, that I don't know how it happened, it just happened, I had a strange dream the night before that day and horrifyingly powerful creatures were rushing to the earth and the earth released some kind of substance that feeled the air and covered the entire earth, I inhaled it in my dreams and I saw myself like this with powers the next day!!! I've told you this before!" Jonas shouted everything to Dustin's face.
"We, you're pouring saliva all over my face, and this is the first time you're telling me this bro" Dustin looked at Jonas, wonder how to curse him.
"Oh, you're right, sorry, I thought I did" Jonas Chuckled and scratched the back of his head.
Dustin was... Well let's just say he wasn't so happy about that.
"So what are we gonna all the force that is in you and came from the earth" Dustin stroked his chin with his index finger and thumb
"you dumb fuck and naming" Jonas said while laughing at Dustin.
"Tch, can't even remember stuff properly and you're calling me dumb." Dustin replied to Jonas, Jonas just laughed and kept chilling.
'But how the hell did this all happen, powers, monsters on a havoc all over the world, hell, satellites Don't even work no more, communication is fucked, this all feels unreal'l, like a game or a story or something, and Jonas is like the main character, cursed life' Dustin said to himself
'well, I hope I don't run into any other awakened being' he had done enough thinking for the day, after eating, laught and talking some more with Jonas, Dustin fell asleep.
Deep in the other side of the city, in the hideout of the destroyed sniper gang, a mysterious man plots and plans to take the city and it's survivors as his subjects and rule them with force and with his new fire ability.
