JUDE
I am shaking, hands sweaty as I stare at the door.
They are in there, waiting for me.
It's now or never. With that thought, I exhale, as I push the door open.
The five boys are in the middle of talking, and when I step inside, they all fall silent, eyes on me.
The door closes behind me with a bang and I flinch. They are all seated around the room, a table separating me and them, where they are seated, judge style.
If I thought they were intimidating through a screen, seeing them face to face is way more. My heart is racing, as I look at the five of them, who are equally looking at me with mild expressions on their faces.
"We don't have the whole day," a blond-haired grumbles, looking at me with an annoyed expression.
"shut up Rin," the one next one to him jabs him with his elbow resulting to Rin bowing in pain. "hi, you are …" the boy asks. He is wearing glasses, and his warm smile eases my nerves a little.
A snort from a boy who is looking bored by the whole interaction cuts me off just as I am opening my mouth. "you don't even know his name?"
"Well, do you?" the glasses guy asks, throwing a dirty look at the bored guy, wearing all black.
"Jude, right?" he asks.
I nod, thrown off by the exchange. "I am Jude Silvers."
"silvers huh?" the blond speaks again, still looking at me with an annoyed expression. "why are you here?"
I am confused, looking behind me to make sure I am in the right room. "I was told to meet you guys here …?"
I dare to look at the other two who haven't spoken a word. One is watching us all calmly, but when our eyes meet, he gives me a small smile. I look at the last boy, next to him and my breath gets caught in my throat.
He has his hair in a half ponytail, sunglasses that obscure me from looking into his eyes, wearing a white tank top that showcases his athletic build. his aura is dark, reminding me of molten dark chocolate.
sexy. alluring. Mysterious.
He is easily the most beautiful person I have ever seen.
A snort breaks me from the trance I seem to have been pulled and I look at the others, face flushed at how obvious I was checking out the boy.
"and another one goes," the boy in glasses laughs, as the others join in in the inner joke.
"Why did you say yes to joining us?" the blond guy asks me and I am convinced that I might be somewhere I am not wanted.
The energy is telling.
"I was offered-"
"so if it was up to you, you wouldn't join us." He cuts me off before I go on.
"no that's not what I am saying-"
"you said you love slow meaningful songs. Clearly, you are not exactly thrilled to be here. are we not good enough for you?"
"okay, I cant watch this," the bored guy stands up. "Silvers, welcome to our group. Can you sing?"
"yes," I nod, clasping my hands in front of me. This is going worse than I anticipated.
Forget the dreams and fantasies I had coming here, I might be going back home tonight with nothing but a bad memory of how much I am messing up.
"you are all making him nervous. He is about to cry for fuck's sake," the guy with glasses says and I look down in embarrassment.
"I am sorry on behalf of the dickheads," the quiet boy who smiled at me stands up and comes towards me. " I am Andre," he extends his hand towards me and I take it.
"nice to meet you, andre," I politely shake his hand and he chuckles shyly. "you are welcome. Now let me introduce you to the crew."
He takes my hand and brings me closer to the table. "the guy giving you a hard time is Rin," he points at the blond who only rolls his eyes not bothering to even look at me. I seem to have annoyed him by coming here.
"This is Zein," the bored guy nods at me.
"Rex," the glasses guy gives me a small salute smiling.
"And this is Miko."
Miko. The mysterious quiet guy who hasn't said a word since I got in here.
"Welcome to MARS."
His voice catches me off guard. Not very deep, but very intoxicating. I think I am getting side-tracked again.
"if you guys are done ogling each other, we should get back home. I am hungry and it's not a very good day for me already," Rin stands up, the chair scraping on the floor loudly.
"shut up Rin," Miko stands up as well, going to rin and wrapping his arm around his shoulders, one hand in his pocket as they start to walk out.
He doesn't look at me, but I watch them as they open the door and disappear behind it.
What the fuck just happened?
"don't mind them, the guys are all on edge for the addition of a new member. We are all cool, I promise," Andre speaks beside me and I turn to look at him, finally coming back on earth.
"I am sorry if I am imposing. I don't know how to go about this, its very confusing for me," I admit. He feels like someone I can be open with.
He pats my back friendly. "don't worry about it. it's the fist day and you are the new kid. We love that you are here. excited. We are just a close knit group, so having someone new is a little hard to adjust to. its not you," he winces apologetically.
"I understand. I know it must be hard."
"we will get over it," he shrugs as he turns to the others. "did Miko leave the other car keys?"
"I got them," Zein raises a set of keys and jiggles. "I am hungry as fuck too, and the guys are already heading to our favorite joint."
"I didn't eat yesterday night. I can eat four servings right about now," Rex stands up, stretching in a groan.
"come on, the others are waiting," Zein starts to leave, as he looks at his phone.
"you hungry?" Andre asks as he takes my hand.
I am so nervous to eat. "yes," I wont pass on any opportunity to prove myself to these guys.
Fate has brought us here, and now our lives are connected. I am going to do all that I can for them to accept me as part of them. Even though I have only met them for a few minutes, I can see how close they all are.
I don't let go of Andres's hand even as drags me out to the basement which I assume is where they are parked.
This is now my life. To say I am on edge would be an understatement.
Fuck.
