Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The Next Investment & A Father's Disdain

Varun sat on his bed, the soft glow of his laptop screen illuminating his face in the dimly lit room. His heart was calm, steady—the feeling of control settling deep within him.

Just a week ago, he was a broke graduate with no future.

Now?

His brokerage account balance displayed ₹3,42,000.

"And this is just the start."

He activated Stock Market Prediction.

Varun's eyebrows lifted. Sintex?

A textile and plastic manufacturing company—one of those mid-sized firms that had existed for years but would soon see an unexpected surge.

And he knew why.

In a few days, news would break about Sintex winning a major government contract.Stock prices would double as investors rushed to buy in.

For the average person, this would look like a surprise rally.

Varun leaned back, exhaling slowly.

"Now, I wait."

The Father's Judgment

The next morning, he sat at the dining table, eating breakfast. His mother, Lakshmi, placed a cup of tea in front of him without a word.

His father, Ramakrishna, sat across from him, scanning the morning newspaper. The sound of the turning pages filled the room, a heavy silence settling between them.

Then, without looking up, his father spoke.

"So, have you found a job yet?"

Varun didn't pause. He took a sip of his tea before replying. "Not yet."

His father's eyes flickered to him, filled with the same cold disappointment.

"You graduated last week. What are you waiting for? You think companies will come knocking at your door?"

Varun calmly placed his cup down. "I have plans."

Ramakrishna scoffed. "Plans?" He folded the newspaper and set it aside. "Tell me, what grand plans does my useless son have?"

Varun's mother remained silent, as always.

He knew this conversation well. He had lived it before.

"I'm figuring out my options," he replied smoothly.

His father leaned forward, his face hard. "Let me tell you your options. Either you find a job, or you become a burden on this family."

Varun kept his expression blank. "I won't be a burden."

Ramakrishna chuckled bitterly. "You already are. Look at Arjun. He's in his first year at IIT and already working towards a bright future. And you?"

He shook his head in disgust. "You waste time. You bring no money to this house. You are nothing but a disappointment."

The words should have hurt.

They didn't.

Because this time, he knew the truth.

"I'll handle my future myself."

His father slammed the table. "Stop talking nonsense and go find a job! Or do you expect me to keep feeding you while you laze around?"

Varun simply stood up, his chair scraping against the floor.

"Don't worry, Dad. Soon, I'll be earning more than you can imagine."

His father laughed. "You? Earning? With what? Empty words?"

Varun just smirked.

"Let's see who laughs in a few days."

Without another word, he walked away.
