Chapter 4 - Huge Commotion

Determined to uncover the secrets woven into the ancient map, Starlet and Alexandra shared a knowing glance — one that spoke of courage, curiosity, and the promise of adventure. They both knew their lives were about to change forever.

"We'll leave at sunrise," Starlet declared, her voice steady with conviction. "Before anyone notices."

Alexandra's heart raced at the thought, excitement mingled with nervous anticipation. "We need to be smart about this. Supplies, a route... and we'll have to keep the book safe."

Together, they mapped out a simple plan. The palace guards wouldn't be a problem at dawn when their watch shifted. They would sneak out through the garden path that led to the old forest trail—a seldom-used route that would give them a head start.

Carefully, Starlet closed the shimmering book. The golden patterns on its cover flickered one last time before settling into a quiet glow, as though acknowledging their decision.

"Back to our room," Alexandra whispered, glancing around as though expecting someone to overhear their bold scheme.

Quietly, they carried the book through the labyrinth of palace corridors. Moonlight streamed through tall arched windows, casting silver patterns across the marble floors. The palace, usually bustling with life, was now hushed in peaceful slumber.

Their footsteps echoed softly until they reached their chamber. Once inside, Starlet bolted the door while Alexandra placed the book carefully on their writing desk.

For a moment, they simply stood there, hearts pounding with anticipation. The weight of what lay ahead pressed against them, but neither wavered.

"Are you ready for this?" Starlet asked, her chestnut-brown eyes gleaming with determination.

Alexandra nodded, a spark of excitement flickering in her expressive blue eyes. "I've been ready for this kind of adventure my whole life."

With that, they prepared for the dawn. Gathering essentials—cloaks, provisions, and a few treasured keepsakes—they worked quietly, their minds already racing toward the journey ahead.

As they lay down for a few hours of restless sleep, the book sat silently on the desk, its golden cover gleaming faintly in the moonlight. It was a silent promise of the wonders waiting for them beyond the palace walls.

And when the first light of dawn crept across the horizon, Starlet and Alexandra would step into the unknown, guided by a map of forgotten places and bound by a shared resolve to uncover the secrets of *Luminarin*.

Their adventure was just beginning.

A hushed murmur spread through the Royal Court, a ripple of unease crackling in the air like an approaching storm. Ministers shifted in their seats, their voices hushed yet urgent. The towering marble columns and golden chandeliers of the grand chamber, once symbols of order and power, now stood beneath the shadow of uncertainty.

Seated upon an obsidian and gold throne, King Manova Christopher steepled his fingers, his sharp gaze sweeping across the assembled council. The heavy silence in the room told him all he needed to know—something had happened. Something serious.

Then, the grand doors burst open. David Zechariah, his trusted military commander, strode forward, his black cloak billowing behind him. He was young, only twenty, yet his name was already legend among the kingdom's warriors. His long black hair framed his chiseled features, and his piercing blue eyes held the weight of the discovery he had made.

He knelt before the king. "Your Majesty," he said, voice low but unwavering. "The rumors are true. Reports from the north confirm that magical creatures have been sighted. The people are afraid. They whisper of beasts moving through the mist—things they do not understand. There is panic in the villages."

A heavy silence fell upon the court. The ministers exchanged glances of disbelief, then concern. Some leaned in, whispering among themselves. Others sat frozen, eyes wide with fear.

The king, however, remained still. Only his fingers, tightening ever so slightly on the armrests of his throne, betrayed his thoughts.

Eighteen years.

Eighteen years since the last time magic walked this land.

He had thought it was over. Thought it had been buried with the past. But now, the storm was returning.

He had once believed it was over—buried beneath the weight of time, lost to the whispers of history. Yet, fate had a cruel way of unearthing the past, dragging old shadows into the light. And now, like storm clouds gathering on the horizon, it was returning.
