The surge. A clash of Titans that resulted in a shockwave of pure energy that enveloped all of Earth.
An estimated 30 percent of Earth's intelligent species was granted abilities. While an estimated 50 percent of Earth's animals, wild or domestic, mutated into horrific monsters.
This day brought apon chaos all over Earth. Many people died, and crime rates rose but after 2 weeks the chaos was settled, but Earth had changed forever… Again.
"Did you really have to say that part?" a blond teenage boy named Suyo, asked his friend, his evebrow raised and a smirk on his face.
"Well with all Chronolokian war and the Lyshinians, not to mention Apex Tech's rise to power, what do you want me to say?" His friend Xander, who had yellow spikey hair and a few scars on his face, responded.
The two were lying on couches next to each other in a furnished living room. The wall had a rectangular holographic screen playing a movie they weren't even paying attention to due to their talking.
"Fair enough I guess." Suyo chuckled. "So… Were you one of the lucky 30?"
"Yeah, I was. I got a system."
"Great. Not only do you have your Earth elemental powers but now you have a system." Suyo said, a rather intimidating look on his face.
Xander chuckled nervous as he scratched the back of his head. "Yeah… I guess so…"
"God, If only I didn't leave for Lunar…"
"Oh, yeah! You never told me how what your stay there?"
"It was fine I guess. Took a while to get used to the gravity, and having to exercise everyday was a pain. The only thing I found annoying was that everyone is base 5 had to be moved for some reason. When we came back, the place looked a bit different. Turns out all of Exo's tech was gone replaced with Apex Tech."
"They already took over the Lunar side of the EXO organization? Didn't know about that."
"It's not like you read the news you dingle."
"Hey! I can crush your skull if feel like it you know!" Xander yelled as he got up the couch.
"Like you'd do that… Pussy."
"What did you call me!"
"Man… I really wish I stayed at Earth now… I want powers as well."
"Bitch, I nearly died during the surge you know!"
"Oh really? Whomp whomp, you're still alive."
Xander took a deep breath and lied back on the couch.
"If I die, I'm haunting your ass for the rest of your life."
"Fair enough, hehe… Now are you gonna demonstrate this system of yours?"
"Not even gonna ask about the hell I went through, huh?"
"Nope…"
Xander just groaned and walked out to his backyard, Suyo following behind. The backyard was rather simple. A grass lawn with brown oak fences.
"You know, I don't even know why you're asking me to demonstrate this. It's not like you'll be able to see the screens or anything."
"Oh. Didn't think about that."
"Of course you didn't." Xander sighed "Well, I guess I can show you this."
Xander opened out his hand and flashes of blue light outlined the shape of what looked like a rock. With a short flash, a rock appeared in his hand.
"That may be the least impressed impressive thing you've shown me. A rock."
"Why did I even bother… The system game me an inventory so I'm using it to store rocks for my Earth powers." The piece of rock broke into pieces and morphed into a staff.
"Can it store a dead body?"
"What?"
"Nothing!"
There was a brief paused as the two looked at each other. Xander's eyes narrowed, staring daggers into Suyo. Suyo cleared his throat and as he was about to say something, the loud thud of an explosion was heard in the distance.
"What was that?" Suyo asked.
"A monster might have emerged somewhere. Wanna go watch?"
"And risk my life?!… How fast can you get us there?"

Xander was now running on the road at around 60 km per hour, piggybacking Suyo. He was in a down town section of the city. The two passed by multiple hover vehicles as well as people on hoverboards.
The two soon arrived at the sight. Ice covered the scene. A creature was two stories tall. Six Tentacles sprouting out it's head like hair. It had a beaked face with with crimson red eyes. It walked with both it's hands and feel, it's posture similar to that of a gorilla. It's entire body was just teal skin.
The monster was fighting a human wearing rather casual clothing. This person was dark skinned, his hair parted from the center, going down. Two bangs going down from his right side, two pointed up from his right.
This person was firing ice and moving around it at high speeds, even going in for melee attacks.
The battle looked rather one sided. I look like the individual was toying with the creature.
The two watched in awe as he easily caught the creature's punch with his left, and punched it's hand with his right, completely destroying it's arms and turning the scene into a green blood bath.
"I think it's time we wrap this up, shall we?"
The individual said before shaping his hand into a gun and firing a shard of ice that blasted through its chest at tremendous speed. Ice spread across the wound before collapsing on to the ground.
"That was boring… Really haven't had a challenging fight in a while."
This person is one that everyone around the world knew best. Earth's strongest human. Kayin.
Kayin was a former hunter who works for the EXO organization who practically ruled the world thanks to the tech they created with took down basically all competition. The organization though was more like a military in charge of keeping paranormal threats at bay.
He soon quit working for EXO after an incident that happened at Bermuda island, an island at the center of the Bermuda triangle and and returned 1 and a half years later to protect Earth with a new comrade, Nesaku, outside of EXO.
The two went on to create Apex Tech and overthrow the EXO organization. Nesaku disappeared after the surge for unknown reasons and ownership of Apex Tech was transferred to another person l that Kayin could focus on the current problems on Earth.
"I can't believe it's really him. THE Kayin Eins!" Suyo said as he shook Xander excitedly. His excited overpowered the repulsive stench of the green blood covering the fairly damaged scene.
Kayin turned to see the two excited boys and after taking a deep look at Xavier, immediately dashed in front of him, arriving almost instantly, covering a 25 meter distance.
Xavier took a second to process what happened while Suyo just froze.
"Are you an elemental?" Kayin asked Xavier.
"Uhh… Yeah?"
"Interesting… Yours eyes and sclera are pure yellow so I can tell you're an Earth elemental. But no human uses the Chronolokian Elemental System. And the surge didn't link anyone with it, so what's with you?"
"I-I um… I wass t-trained b-b-b-by Melesin."
"Melesin? Haven't seen him ever since he left to Australia. For a second there I thought you were a disguised chronolokian. Do you have any forms?"
"N-no, sir."
"That's a shame. Well, I'll be going." Kayin skipped backwards three steps before launching into the air, a gust of wind rushing at the two. A large crater now took place of were Kayin once was.
The two stood there for a good three minutes, staring at the sky were Kayin took off before snapping back to their senses.
"I still can't believe I was standing next to Kayin himself." Said Suyo.
"Standing? He was talking to me." Responded Xander, the both still looking up.

It was two days after that event. The two were behind Xander's backyard. Xander had his system open while Suyo was watching.

"11? Really? Just 11?"
"Well, finding stuff to kill is pretty hard you know. I've mostly been doing daily quests or stuff like that to level up."
"So even with a system my Earth Elemental friend is still weak? Maybe I should get someone to teach me elemental powers as well."
"Like how would you do tha…. Are you really planning to waste your family's money on one."
"Of course I am."
"Spoiled brat…"
"Not my fault you broke."
Xander's eyes narrowed as he glared at Suyo. He then stomped his foot on the ground not even a second later, Suyo's feet were encased in hard dirt.
"Good luck getting out of that one, rich kid."
Suyo sat down, a satisfied smirk on his face, before summoning his system.

"My inventory is as dry as my credit card. With school on a temporary pause I should get a job in the meantime." He then turned his head to Suyo direction, who was trying his best to get his legs free.
"Ey, Suyo. Do you think I'd make a good superhero?"
"No."
There was a brief pause before Xander raised his hand swiping down his hand. And at the same time, Suyo's legs sank to the ground.
"Yeah, I'm going…" Xander said as he got up.
"Going were exactly, you bitch!"
"Apex defense headquarters of course."
"Like hell I know where that is!"
"I'll see ya tomorrow then." Xander turned to leave.
"Hey! Get back here! You aren't leaving me like this!"
Xander let out a sigh and stomped his feet to the ground. Suyo ended up getting shot up to the roof of his house.
"I'll be waiting in the car." Xander said before getting inside the house.
