Chapter 1 - : Dream School

Kurou walks through a labyrinth of classrooms. He didn't know how he ended up here; all he remembers was telling his mom goodnight before heading to bed. He continues walking forward as he hears noises of footsteps coming from behind him, but no matter how many times he turns around nothing is there. 'Maybe I'm hallucinating it.' He thinks to himself before picking up the pace. Kurou walks into an empty classroom and closes the door behind him.

Bang, bang, bang.

The noise keeps coming from the doors, he pushes the desks against the doors to act as a barricade. The noise stops after going at it a few times. He searches around the classroom for anything that's useful. He's been in the school for god knows how long, it all started when he woke up in another classroom with a note on a table saying that a key is in room 108. He hasn't even been paying attention to what rooms he's been going in ever since he heard footsteps. It's like some invisible person is following him, but they never do anything except make noise. He can't even check what room number this is because that person is still roaming around and the sign is outside and above the classroom door. So he decides against it. Kurou moves the curtain away from the window and looks down the hallway. He waits a few moments, then freezes as he spots a boy running down the hall. Kurou feels like he's seen that boy before, he quickly lets go of the curtain and removes the desks from the door and walks out of the classroom, he glances at the sign above the door. Room 104…that means the classroom he's looking for should be close by! He heads towards the direction the boy went and pays attention to the room numbers. Room 108 was the door to his left and the door was wide open as he headed inside. The boy was rummaging around the teacher's desk and looked up as he heard his voice being called. "Minami, what are you doing here?" The boy named Minami smiles as he sees his best friend. "I could ask you the same question, seems like we're both stuck in this dream realm?" Minami asked. Kurou was confused and responded with, "Dream realm? Are you sure we didn't just get kidnapped? It seems to add up on the theory. I mean, I've heard footsteps and seen a note saying a key is in this classroom. So maybe our kidnapper is toying with us?" Minami chuckled and didn't respond right away. "Can you help me find the key? Also, have you ever heard an urban legend called 'Dream School'?" As soon as he hears that name it hits Kurou right in the face. How could he forget? Dream School, a Japanese urban legend about a kid that heard of the legend and within a week witnessed the legend come to life. The kid woke up in an empty classroom, and not knowing where he was he walked around the school and he found the note saying which room the key was, but the legend says that he never made it out of the dream to this very day. Kurou didn't really believe in it himself, so he tried to remember it every single day until he experienced it, but when he finally does, he forgets about it?! What logic is this?? Kurou finally speaks up, "So since we're here, does this mean that kid that got trapped here could be here too?" Minami shook his head, "I didn't see anybody else and I've been looking for this classroom for ages, so I would know. I did see an exit though, which was locked because even a dream doesn't make anything easier for us." Kurou nodded and tried looking for the key, after looking for a while Kurou found a silver looking key hiding in a compartment on the side of a desk. He holds it up for Minami to see. "Found it! Now where was that exit you said you found?" Minami smiles and leads him outside of the classroom and downstairs. "It's pretty far down these stairs, and since this place is like a maze, it's easy to forget where it is. So, stick close to me and keep your ears open for noise. You don't know what you could find in this place." Kurou does as he says and it's before long when he starts hearing footsteps behind them again; they quicken their pace and run downstairs. They eventually reach double sided doors and Kurou pulls the key he had in his pocket out and quickly tries to put it in the keyhole. The lights behind them flicker and turn off and the footsteps get closer and closer. Minami looks behind him and yells, "HURRY UP! That THING is coming!" Kurou's hands are shaking so badly that he keeps missing the keyhole. After a few more attempts he steadies his hands and manages to unlock the door, he turns around to find Minami being engulfed into the dark as the light above them goes out. Kurou hears Minami scream and he feels a hand push him into the white light that shines behind the exit doors. He watches as the light flickers back on and Minami is gone. As he falls into the endless white abyss, he yells the last few words that the dream school will listen to that day. "MINAMI! I'LL COME BACK FOR YOU!"
