Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: The Titan from the Shadows

A deafening roar echoed across the battlefield as the ruin began to move. The blue flames receded, and underneath something came to light - something gigantic.

A massive warrior of pure darkness rose from the ground. His body consisted of black stone and shadows, in his glowing eyes burned ancient rage. In his hands he held a huge blade covered with black fire.

"Okay... that's new," Kael murmured.

Elara felt her heart race. The Titan was bigger than anything she had ever fought.

"We have no choice," she said firmly. "We have to defeat him."

Kael grinned. "It was clear that you said that."

The Titan raised his sword - and with a single movement he swent a pressure wave across the field.

The first attack

Elara and Kael jumped apart when the attack tore the ground. The Titan moved more slowly than the Shadow Warriors, but each of his blows had the power of an earthquake.

Kael attacked first. He ran forward, his sword wrapped in blue energy. With a quick jump, he pushed the blade directly into the Titan's leg - but the weapon simply bounced off.

"Damn it! His skin is too hard!"

Elara gritted her teeth.

She concentrated, feeling the darkness in her.

"Use me."

The voice was back.

Elara swallowed.

"You can't control me when you're scared. Let go."

She closed her eyes - and let the darkness flow through her veins.

Her hands began to glow, black and gold at the same time.

Kael looked at her. "Elara...?"

"I have an idea."

She ran straight to the Titans.

Kael shouted, "Wait!" but she didn't listen.

She jumped up, right up to the monster's chest - and at the last moment she opened her hands.

The darkness shot out of it.

The new power unleashed

Black tendrils wrapped around the Titan, crawling over his body, and sninging. The Titan roared, but he couldn't move anymore.

Elara concentrated.

"Now, Kael!"

Kael understood immediately. He ran forward, jumped at the bound Titans - and with all his strength he rammed his sword directly into the heart of the creature.

A shocking scream filled the air.

The blue flames went out.

The titanium splintered.

Silence.

Passed the exam

Elara fell to her knees panting. Her whole body was shooking, the strength had completely exhausted her.

Kael helped her up.

"That was crazy," he said, grinning.

Elara breathed heavily. "But it worked."

The watchman stepped out of the shadow.

"You passed the exam."

He raised a hand - and suddenly two objects appeared before them.

A black crystal from which dark energy pulsated.

And a silver amulet that shimmered in holy light.

"Choose wisely," said the guardian. "For this decision will change your destiny forever."
