Viperus knew the little female, Kite, had wanted to forage for wild vegetables in the morning.
While visiting the Horned Sheep Tribe, he had noticed the horned sheep eating a long-leafed vegetable. Thinking she might like it, he brought back a bundle. If she did, he could always trade for more later.
Kite took the bundle and gave it a sniff. It smelled a bit like romaine lettuce, but the leaves were much longer—nearly a meter! Everything in the beast world is oversized, she thought with a wry smile. She took a tentative bite. It was a bit bitter but edible.
If the horned sheep can eat it, it's not poisonous.
Kite sliced off a small piece of fat from their stores and tossed it into the pot to render some oil. She then threw in the chopped long-leafed vegetable and stir-fried it, adding a pinch of salt and a few drops of soy sauce. Once the leaves started to soften and change colour, she took it off the heat.
