AIDEN
"I want to rip them apart as my much as you want to Alpha." Satyr informed me.
" This is no way to to treat a woman, but we can't run in there blind, we can't be much use to her if we fail to go in without proper cognizance and end up being taken down by hidden wolves." He continued.
" He's right." Hambul continued.
" We can't be sure they don't have wolves hidden in trees waiting to pounce the moment we show our faces." He added.
As much as I wanted to charge into the clearing and start chopping off heads, I realized that there was wisdom in their words. This could be an ambush for all I know.
I'll remember their loyalty and rational thinking when we get back home. I silently assured myself.
" Fine." I grudgingly acquiesced.
" You take opposite sides and take cognizance of their numbers and positions." I ordered. " Be back here in six minutes or I'll charge with or without you." I added.
Without wasting time on words, they shouldered their battle axes and took to opposite sides and I returned my attention back to the sight in front of me.
" I swear you have the wrong person." Ava was crying and pleading.
" I'm a mate-less wolf, I have taken no one's mate," she continued tears dripping down her face.
" Do you deny that you somehow managed to convince Aiden into thinking you are his mate." The reedy man snapped, taking the blade away from her windpipe and sticking it into the tree trunk through her hair.( A little of the tension in my shoulders loosened when the blade left her windpipe).
" I didn't do anything to Alpha Aiden except disrespect him, he hates me." She announced, breaking my heart at the finality in her voice.
Had I really being so ruthless that she believe I hated her. What sort of monster had I
become.
" Please Greeley." She begged. " You have to let me go."
So the reedy man's name was Greeley huh, good to know the man whose head I was about to rip off had a name.
He laughed in her face, my blood boiling at his impudence.
" You expect me to believe such a cockamine story?" He asked.
" I must admit you do have spunk and you're not too bad looking either." He added, trailing a finger down her cheek.
" Too bad I'll have to kill you, you would have made quite an interesting addition to my collection of bed partners." He added digging his fingers so deep into her skin he drew blood.
That's the last straw, I decided.
Unclipping the ax from my belt, I threw it at the nearest wolf, caving his head in, right before I transitioned into a wolf and lunged at them, swiping at the rouge wolves with my paws and feet and tearing into them with my claws and teeth.
Filled with rage, I was oblivious to anything but my desire to tear all the wolves to shreds and save my mate, and I went about, swiping, tearing and clawing to achieve my aim.
I don't know how long it took, but when I was finally calm enough to look around and really take in my surroundings, I found myself crouched in the middle of the valley of terror in human blood, covered in blood from my face and flesh stained teeth to the soles of my feet. Heaps of decapitated wolves lay on all sides, with a small group of battered, bruised and malnourished wolves in human form cowed in a corner, Hambul leaning menacingly over them snarling and gnashing his teeth at them.
On the other side of the woods, Satyr held a squirming and blubbering Greeley pinned to a tree trunk with one meaty paw.
" Please." He was pleading.
" Don't kill me." He begged.
"I was only following orders." He added.
As much as I longed to ask him whose orders he had been following so I could rip their throat out, right after I ripped his throat out, but my gaze was drawn to Ava where she sat cowering still tied to the oak tree.
Hurrying over to her side, I quickly reached into my boots for the ceramic knife with which I cut of the ropes before picking her up and hugging her to my chest.
Cradling her in my arms, I slowly got to my feet and turned away from the sight of carnage, not wanting her to see anymore. The goddess alone knew what she had been through already, I couldn't bear to put her through more.
"Round them up and bring them back back to the pack for questioning." I told Satyr and Hambul. " I'll take Ava back to the pack and get the healers to look her over." I said. Nodding slightly to acknowledge their bows of respect, I carefully transferred Ava from my arms to my back, making sure to protectively wrap her arms around my neck before letting my wolf take over and heading back home as fast as I could.
" I'll find out whoever they were working for and make them pay for this." I assured her as she cried into my back, her tears mingling with the blood on my coat.
SELENA
Honestly, if I lived to be a hundred thousand years old I don't think I would ever understand men. There were such strange creatures.
" You did what?" I asked the man in front of him, hoping against hope that I had a hearing problem and hadn't heard what I thought I just heard.
" I decided to let them run themselves ragged." He replied.
" We'll let them exhaust themselves and scoop them up like the caged rabbits they are." He explained, sounding pleased with himself.
" What is wrong with you?" I wondered out loud staring at him dumbfounded.
" You saw that stupid little bitch escaping with that twitchy praying mantis of a man that calls himself Greeley and you let them?" I asked, needing to hear him confirm it one more time to be sure I had heard him correctly.
To think that I always thought Cosmo was one of the smart ones and he ended up doing this. " Lena dear." He began placing a placating palm on my thigh, and that was all it took. All my anger seemed to ooze out of me and I leaned into him.
The power this man weilded over me was indeed immeasurable, all it took was a touch, sometimes even a look and I became putty in his hands, ready to be moulded into whatever shape he chose.
If I hadn't been so determined to be Aiden's bride, I might have even fancied myself in love with him. But of course I wasn't, he was simply a distraction, someone to pass time with until I could convince Aiden to make me his.
What did it matter if he held immeasurable sway over my life and actions, once I won Aiden I didn't intend to ever set my eyes on him again, which was why I had to make the best of my time with him now.
" Greeley may have knowledge of the woods but he's nothing but a powerless witch,an outcast fit to be nothing but semi- useless spy and Ava might have some spunk in her but she won't last an hour in the woods. Do you see them making the three day journey back to the millennial pack or to Greeley's coven." He explained, slowly trailing patterns on my upper arm and thigh as he spoke.
" Are you sure?" I asked, barely able to get the words out,my sole focus on his fingers as they lightly danced over my skin.
" Of course I'm sure." He assured me.
" We'll let them run around till they tire themselves out, then we'll scoop them back into their cages with little or no effort." He added, his fingers slowly climbing higher to tease the edge of my skin tight, deerskin micro skirt.
" Whatever you say." I agreed, getting up to take off my skirt.
" But I still think you shouldn't have let them go." I added, before kneeling between his legs to pull down his breeches and take his cock in my mouth.
Now, that was one exercise I could never have enough of.
COSMO
Hours later, when I stood in the middle of the valley of terror and raked my gaze over the piles of decapitated wolves all around me. I realized that Selena might be an airhead, but she had been right this one time,I really shouldn't have let them go.
I didn't let it get to me though, Ava had fallen into my clutches once, if I so desired I could get her to fall again.
And as for Greeley,it wouldn't hurt for his coven to find this. It would serve as a warning to make sure they didn't send any more spies into his pack, no matter how incompetent and easy to spot they might be
